Lovely wee cafe, as a coeliac I was excited to see this place had lots of gluten free cakes to enjoy with my tea! Space for about 25 inside and even some seating outside too.
A lively venue with fantastic entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere, perfect for a fun night out!

Amazing evening at mengarie last night. Such a fun venue with great entertainment.
My sister is gluten free and the gentleman serving us (think it was the manager?) was brilliant, he knew exactly what he was talking about explained what was gluten free on the menu and made her feel completely at ease. This was so nice as often when eating out staff don’t understand it and my sister can be made to feel really different and singled out.
Food and drinks were good, staff were super friendly, music was great and we loved all of the thought that has gone into the venue, ring lights etc! Would definitely come back! Thank you!
Get ready for a brunch experience with intriguing options and top-notch coffee that caters to all dietary needs.

Absolutely delicious brunch.
Really interesting options with a good attention to detail.
Nice vegan and vegetarian options as well as meat.
Staff were super helpful and arranged high quality gluten free bread on request to cater for allergies.
Coffee was exceptional quality too.
Enjoy the flavours of the East at East Z East
With all the cuisines currently available, it’s sometimes easy to forget about the curry classics. EastZEast is definitely a classic that has been providing traditional desi food for many years. They are based in multiple locations around Manchester and we visited the Riverside Branch with the Bollywood classics playing and sultry setup.
Appetisers began with poppadoms and a pickle tray - Usually we wouldn’t have this as it fills us up and doesn’t leave space for the good stuff. However, on this occasion we had a blast from the past with the pickle tray at EastZEast and it was flawless. Fresh crispy poppadoms and a selection of pickles and chutney to please everyone. We enjoyed the onions, the mango chutney etc, but the lime pickle is also worthy of a mention.
We decided to have a mixture of more common dishes with the less common to give a balanced view on the place. For starters;
\Lamb Chops [£5.95] - Not asianified at all, with tender meat coated in spices that were distinct but not overpowering
\Masala Fish [£5.95] - Flaky fish covered in a crispy batter, and was like a bigger version of a fish pakora that you get at an asian wedding...yummy
\Bengan Pakora [£3.95] - A little plain, and understand that they were trying something new with this aubergine in batter and fried. Dip it in a sauce of your choice and it makes it that much better
And then onto the mains of roti and rice with;
\Lamb Shank Nihari [£13.95] - Oh, so spicy and oh, so tasty. It was cooked really well with the meat falling off the bone and the soup made of rich flavours. This is definitely one of our recommended dishes
\Lahori Murgha [£10.95] - This was just as good and was the perfect recommendation from the waiter. Although it’s cooked on the bone making it more fiddly to eat, the dish had a fresh tomato based base. It was fresh and it was filling
\Sarson-da-Saag [£8.95] - This was a bit meh but worked well to complement the other dishes. We don’t think it’d do well as someone’s full meal and it was quite blended so order it completely mild and perfect for the children who want a spinach puree.
Our mocktails of the night were picked by the waiters and we were provided with a Strawberry Mojito and a Passion Fruit Mocktail [£5.95 each]. Fancy little drinks that were filled with fruit. Something for you all to remember - they have BOGOF on the cocktails/ mocktails before 7pm, so all the more reason to get there early.
Now for the sweet endings of;
\Flourless Chocolate Torte (gf) [£5.50] - Perfect for those who require gluten free and for those who don’t. Rich, dark and gooey - this is pure indulgence
\Gajar Halva [£3.95] - Authentic, sugary and warm. A true desi dessert
We usually visit East Z East with a big family group, and we’re likely to be back
