The Meltdown and their staff consistently hit it out of the park. I have never had a bad meal or service at their establishment. Even the pickiest of eaters in my life dream over the next time they can dine here. What people have to remember is that each menu item is literally an entree made into a sandwich. The explosiveness of flavors, the freshness, and the dynamic ingredient list make every bite a culinary experience. The price of produce has gone up and so have menu items everywhere. As someone who travels for work, I’ve spent more on meals elsewhere and been disgusted and unfulfilled. A result which never happens at The Meltdown. While I dislike being gluten free, it’s an unfortunate reality for me. Options aren’t as widespread as people think and every GF meal I’ve had here makes me question “how can something this good be GF?!” I’m given the comfort of food I miss with every item and a plate so full that leftovers are always taken home. The owners expect a caliber from their staff which is sorely missing in today’s world, bringing the dining-out experience back to life. I had the GF Gobbler special and it’s no easy feat to make a whole separate group of dishes to cater to a small group that requires it. From the first bite, I felt the flavors of home and my childhood across my palate and it carried through to my last bite later in the evening.
I was very happy to see the gluten friendly menu. Our wAIt staff was exceptional. The atmosphere is very interesting. if you get a chance, visit the upstairs rest rooms lots of history there!
4 part customer driven menu that rocks. Bowl for gluten free or calorie counting or burrito. Then choose your primary filler followed by your flavor profiles such as: southern, jerk, traditional, bbq, and 5 more.
Well done, fresh ingredients, clean interior, positive vibes by servers who ask the same questions over and over with a smile.
If you live in the Montpelier/Barre area, or are passing though, make sure you visit Si Aku Ramen. We just went for the first time last weekend and had to come back today. The menu is simple, but varied, with something for everyone- vegetarians and carnivores (and with different noodle variations, seemingly for gluten free folks, too). The broth is rich in flavor, and clearly handmade, and the soup is put together with such care- just delicious. Don't miss out out on this place!
