One of my all-time favorite spots. Obviously, nothing beats the original Tacofino up in Tofino—but during high season, the lines can be wild. So we opted for the city version in Victoria yesterday, and it totally delivered!
They were super accommodating with dietary needs—my friend is both dairy- and gluten-free, and they had no problem whipping up a bowl for her. Our food came out fast and piping hot.
What I love most about Tacofino is the explosion of flavor in every bite. Fresh, bold, and seriously satisfying. If you’re visiting Victoria, this place is an absolute must.
This vibrant eatery offers a clearly labeled gluten-free menu that delights guests with hearty, flavorful options. The friendly, efficient service and cozy outdoor seating create a welcoming atmosphere ideal for those seeking a safe and satisfying gluten-free dining experience.

La Taquisa’s owners Scott & Sindy will tell you:
- Everything is made from scratch - less the Valentina’s & soda.
- We only use local, antibiotic, hormone free meats.
- We proudly serve authentic family recipes.
But they’re forgetting, that their food is absolutely delicious and has remained the same price for years - they’re the cheapest in town, by several dollars per meal.
Over the years, and the hundreds of times I’ve dined there - I’ve only ever had one issue, which was a salsa missing from my order. Chucked it up to them being human, and me ordering an exorbitant amount of salsa. 😅
I’ve tried every meat and veggie option, and every salsa, the guac, and the refried beans. It’s all good.

“Secret menu”
Burrito-on-a-plate (gluten free)
Each component is placed next to one another, you can self-assemble into tacos with the 3 included gluten-free corn tortillas or make a burrito bowl.
This isn’t exactly secret, but is available in their online menu although the in-store menus haven’t been updated, but can be ordered in-person.
They’re coming up on their 15th year having brick-and-mortar locations:
- Downtown in the spring through early fall has a large outdoor courtyard, the Fort Commons, that is shared with other businesses the border the space.
- Vic West has a row of bar height seating with stools, and a few tables outside.
Any nit-pic comments or drawbacks mentioned in other reviews are more than made up for with the value that they’re offering, which is why they’ve earned 5 stars despite not being literal perfection.
This cozy Mexican spot features a warm, colorful atmosphere with mellow beats perfect for relaxed conversation. The friendly, accommodating staff ensure a welcoming experience, making it an awesome choice for gluten-free diners seeking a safe and enjoyable meal.

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining here on Saturday (Dec 2). I have a wheat allergy, so it was wonderful to be able to order almost anything from the menu knowing that the majority of it was gluten-free. We each enjoyed a hibiscus margarita, Yum!, and we shared the pork enchiladas and boneless ribs. I can’t even get over how delicious these meals were! The flavors were perfect, as were the portions! The service was excellent, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. 100% recommend and we will be back!!

My partner and I love and recommend this little restaurant! We have never been disappointed with their fresh and flavourful empanadas and arepas, and I love their patacones. The staff are helpful, friendly, and will recommend something tasty for you if you’re not sure what to get. I am celiac and I appreciate their allergen knowledge and precautions. :)
Cozy Mexican eatery with gluten-free options like corn tortillas and safe, delicious soup.

Great little hidden mexican gem. They were able to accommodate gluten and dairy allergen(celiac) early on in the day, can guarantee later in the day, but it was delicious. Definitely will go back again, would suggest if your Celiac to call ahead to make sure they haven't had cross contamination, although they said the soup is always safe and it was sooooo good ..

Had empanadas and they were so incredibly good that we got 2 each. I’m celiac and I haven’t had empanadas since I was a kid in Mexico. I was so shocked that these were Glutej Free! They were so crispy and crunchy on the outside with the most delicious tender and juicy filling with melty cheese. You can tell a lot of care and love goes into everything they prepare and assemble. I will definitely come back and recommend. (Plus the owners are fabulous and kind!) My go to place for Mexican goods and snacks from now on! 🇲🇽
This lively spot offers a warm, personal touch with a friendly local family atmosphere. Its thoughtful accommodations for gluten-free diners make it a standout choice for those seeking a welcoming and safe dining environment with plenty of gluten-free options.
