Great Coffee, excellent eats. I particular enjoy the Hero Salad, which comes from the Matakana Market Kitchen downstairs. All the baked goods are awesome and there is a good selection of gluten free treats as well. Friendly service. Ice cream is amazing too.
Wait staff did a good job of letting the kitchen know our Gluten Free requirements (celiac), however, my meal definitely contained traces of gluten even though we ordered from the GF menu. Kitchen procedure really let MMK down this time and as a result I was sick the following day
A cozy spot with a fantastic selection for various dietary needs, delicious offerings, and a chill vibe that keeps folks coming back!

Amazing food? Check. Dietary requirements met? Check! Friendly service is a nice chill environment? Check! Matakana is not lacking in good places to eat, but this is my favourite. We went back three times in one trip. My wife and daughter are coeliac, so having a wide gluten-free selection is fantastic for them. It’s some of the best gluten-free bread and cabinet treats I have tried. And the hot chips are superb. Definitely worth the trip. Thanks again for making an extra loaf of focaccia for us! We’ll be back next one we’re here
Known for its separate fryer, this spot serves up big, delicious hot chips that everyone raves about.

We enjoyed a lovely late lunch at Matakana pub last Sunday May 1st. The fish and chips were superb and the service excellent.
Nicola in particular stood out. She was accommodating, thorough and professional when organising kai that I being coeliac could enjoy.
Thanks again for a lovely experience

We popped in here unsure what we would find. The staff member we spoke to was very Helpful, lovely and kind. The menu looked lovely but we were after grabbing a bite to eat. Only trouble I had was the song smell of yeast from the brewing. It kind of hit you as you walked in. There was outdoor seating though. Despite a good amount of parking it was getting pretty full when we stopped in. A good sign I'd think 🤔
Gluten free food was avaliable. Yay.
I'd love to come back and give the menu a go especially if we have the same lovely staff member we had today.

We love craft beer and food trucks on Sundays. 8 Wired has some really different beers. Lots of sours and I tried a barley wine (beer stored in wine barrels) that was unexpected and actually quite nice. Tasting paddles are the way to HO, as you can try a few different beers.
The fit out is like many other breweries - industrial meets 70s lounge decor. Although unlike many other breweries, the furniture appears newly made so you’re less like to drop into a sofa where the springs have gone.
The food truck was Amaranto - Italian but all gluten free. The pasta was delicious and comforting, and the meatballs were accompanied by a lovely sauce.
Highly recommended next time you’re in Matakana.
