The atmosphere of the place is very pleasant, with a cozy décor and suitable music that enhances the dining experience. It has a warm, inviting feel that makes it a nice spot for casual dining.
We ordered two pizzas (one margherita for $23 with an additional order of olives for $3, and one ham and pineapple for $22, with a gluten-free base costing an additional $5 and vegan cheese for another $4) and a drink (a Lemon, Lime, Bitters for $5) at 6:45 pm. According to the prices listed on the menu, the total cost of our order should have been $62; however, the amount charged to the card was $64.01. The drink was delivered 25 minutes later, and the pizzas arrived 43 minutes after we ordered. The margherita was flavourful with fresh basil and the added olives, while the ham and pineapple had a nice sweetness from the pineapple.
Unfortunately, one of the pizzas was noticeably burnt. When we informed the waitress, she responded, “That pizza is not burnt,” adding that “this is normal for pizzas with a gluten-free base.” She reiterated, “That pizza is not burnt.” (See the photos for your own reference)
Although she offered to bake a new one, her attitude showed clear annoyance. It would be helpful for the staff to receive additional training in customer service to handle such situations more smoothly.
The replacement pizza arrived 10 minutes later and was perfectly baked. However, the waitress commented, “Some people like their pizza doughy, and others prefer it well-cooked,” and added, “We didn’t know what your baking preference was for your pizza.” This kind of communication could be improved by asking for customers’ preferences at the time of ordering to avoid misunderstandings.
Compared to previous occasions when we visited this pizzeria, this time there was a clear decline in both the level of customer service and the quality of the pizza. The margherita was delightful, but the service issues overshadowed the experience. Overall, I felt that the experience did not match the value for money, especially given the wait times and service issues. While I still enjoy the atmosphere and the menu options, if the staff can improve their communication and service approach, it would greatly enhance the dining experience.
