I love the atmosphere and the staff is amazing, but the food is limited in terms of gluten-free options. I wish there were more healthy options for gluten-free. The brownie is too brownie box like.
With tasty pasta, generous portions, and a simple menu, this spot is a must-visit for a satisfying meal, though the vibe could be better.

El Pastaman lives up to its name. During our three-day stay in Montréal, we ate here the last two nights. My girlfriend suffers from coeliac disease, which is why we are always on the lookout for gluten-free options. El Pastaman offers gluten-free pasta. The pasta sauces are also gluten-free. I ate the "El Transparente" pasta with normal spaghetti. I have never eaten a better carbonara in my life. The sauce was perfectly balanced. The spaghetti was topped with crispy bacon, juicy pancetta, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh spring onions and sprinkled with parmesan. It was real soul food. The taste is 1A. My girlfriend also liked it. On the second evening, I tried the spaghetti bolognese (El Rosso). This was also delicious, but couldn't even begin to compete with the delicious carbonara. Our recommendation is therefore: try the carbonara. The restaurant itself offers plenty of seating. You can come by without a reservation, which we really liked. However, the ambience was not the nicest (fans were running, electronic music was playing in the seating area and pop music in the kitchen - very confusing). But we would still eat here again at any time.

Pros: Fried chicken is gluten free. Portions are decently large.
Cons: Chicken is only ok (definitely underseaoned). Price is high for the quality.
I personally didn't enjoy the vibe of the food hall, but I imagine many other people would.
Experience good vibes and generous portions in a lively ambiance, perfect for enjoying a variety of tasty options with friends.

Loved my experience here! The portion sizes are quite generous and the food is delicious, with a variety of vegan and gluten free options. However, the service was quite slow. I don't know if it was due to the volume of people in the restaurant or being understaffed but waited quite a while for our order to be taken.
Starters shine with standout oysters and calamari, while some mains leave mixed impressions, all enjoyed in a cozy vibe.

Enjoyed the starters more than the mains. Portions were on the smaller side for me.
Hits 🔥
- Oysters
- Scallops were refreshing
- Calamari is really tasty (the sauce is heavenly)
Misses
- Risotto (Did not care for the granola-like garnishes & the sweet flavor. I think I was just craving a savory risotto.)
- Quail (Meat itself was good, but the sweet & sour sauce pairing didn’t add to the dish)
Service was attentive & knowledgeable about which dishes were gluten-free. We also had a nice bottle of natural wine.
