This cafe is not only stunning but the food tastes amazing and is very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and so was the atmosphere. It was always difficult finding a cafe to accomodate a gluten free and vegetarian but this place ticked all the boxes. Would highly recommend!

We came across this restaurant by chance. What was our surprise when we discovered this incredible and charming place. First of all, the food is of impeccable quality! It is rare to find such a large choice of gluten-free dishes 🍕 🍝. From starter to dessert, there is something for everyone. Then, the staff is remarkably kind and attentive. Special mention to Enrique with whom we had the opportunity to speak and who was very attentive. Finally, what can we say about chef Sergio! A unique person, he speaks many languages ​​and exudes passion. I'm celiac and came here after reading the rave gluten free reviews. I ordered a gluten free pizza for takeaway. I confirmed when I was paying that the pizza was indeed gluten free - was told yes! I ate one piece once I got home, and felt extremely hesitant that this was really gluten free so I waited to see if I would be okay. After about an hour, I was profusely throwing up the entire contents of my stomach. Either this pizza was NOT gluten free, or it was - but gave me food poisoning. I almost never leave bad reviews - but this experience was awful.

From tapioca, salads, smoothie bowls, shakshuka, pancakes, etc. We'd also like to inform you that all toasts can be served on gluten-free bread or with a baked sweet potato base instead of traditional bread. Had a lovely meal here. Great for gluten fee, knowledgeable friendly staff, menu clearly labelled and staff confirmed all orders to be sure all gluten free. Had the mozzarella salad, delicious squid and amazing duck risotto. Very small resturant on the water front. Seating outside with about 5 tables for 2 inside.

Fantastic meal here. Just back of the river front and behind the restaurant Rib. Great atmosphere. Good for gluten free. Knowledgeable staff and lots of options for those with dietary restrictions. Food was delicious but go hungry as portions generous. Had a sea bass and.octopus as mains, both of which were great. All dishes looked good. Delicious mouse for desert. Good wine selection. All reasonably priced. Would highly recommend. Booking needed.

We had tortilla, veal capaccio and prawn risotto. All delicious. Great setting with a good vibe in the main railway station. Booking required as constantly busy.

Mercador Café & Brunch in Porto is a gem for those looking for a cozy place with a modern atmosphere. The service was super friendly and fast. I enjoyed a delicious açaí with fruits, which was fresh and very well presented. 🍓🫐 In addition, they offer gluten-free bread, which is a great plus for those who need it. Their coffee is excellent and perfect to accompany their varied menu, which includes fresh and healthy dishes. 🥑🍳 The decoration of the place is elegant, ideal for relaxing or having a good time. Although the prices may be a little high, the quality justifies it. Without a doubt, a place that I recommend for a quiet and tasty brunch in the heart of Porto.

I miss gluten-free food, this is the first time that it has happened to me in a McDonald's that they don't have anything gluten-free. We couldn't eat because they don't have gluten-free options, only the fries. In all the McDonald's in Spain there is gluten-free food, a Happy Meal hamburger. No gluten, no problem, this time we couldn't eat. The place is very nice and full of people. The area is currently under construction and is a little dirty and dusty, but otherwise it is very good, but not having gluten-free food is very bad.

It is a spectacular place to eat and have a great time with family or friends. The food is great and as far as allergens are concerned there is nothing to worry about. As for the waiters, they are all charming, especially a boy with glasses who brought me a complimentary gluten-free skewer because he had heard that I have celiac disease. Unfortunately, not understanding Portuguese well, I understood that he had made a mistake and I rejected it. Thank you very much anyway, if I have the chance, I will try all the delicious gluten-free skewers again. A kiss❤️❤️❤️

We came to get some take away sushi and the place was buzzin’. Better reserve a table for dine-in. We were happy that they were able to make our choices gluten-free. We had a couple of makis, nigiris and the vegan box, and everything was delicious and very well presented. Would come back.

We stumbled upon this wonderful venue to escape the rain. Then we were enchanted. We enjoyed an excellent wine tasting and made some great friends with other guests. When we asked about a celiac-friendly restaurant, we were promptly invited to the restaurant at the back of the shop. We could hardly believe the dreamy ambiance that awaited us. This was followed by an unforgettable dinner with wine pairing. When we left the venue several hours later, it was still raining, but our mood couldn't have been better. We left slightly tipsy and with our stomachs full of delicious food. A very special thank you goes to the entire service team. We haven't experienced such excellent, attentive, and friendly service in a long time. We will definitely be back.

I was so looking forward to come to this place, after having been to other Jose Avillez restaurants. This one was such a disappointment! The service was bad from start to finish, started off with a grumpy lady waiter that couldn’t be bothered to wait for us to choose, even though we had a coeliac child and needed to make sure what was ordered was safe. We were then served by another waiter, but it turns out half our order was already sent to the kitchen. Our food came in different times and the steak was cold. Two starters ordered first arrived after the main meals and again( one of them was cold. We sent the steak back, but everyone else had eaten their meal by the time it returned without even an apology. I think Jose Avillez should ensure the standard of his restaurants remain high, otherwise people will come out disappointed and write reviews similar to the recent ones here.

Better flavors and quality than the gelato place across the street (yes, of course we tried them too!). The flavors list is labeled for gluten-free options (so you don’t have to ask). Staff are quite friendly and competent in multiple languages. I’m tempted to deduct an atmosphere star for the ear-wormy pop music… but no, they deserve all the stars.

The food and service were beyond exceptional. From the start to the finish, it was just a pleasure to be there. My fiancé is celiac and they made sure on each level that everything she had was gluten free. If you are visiting Porto, highly recommend coming here. Yes, it is pricey compared to other restaurants but that is expected when you go for a fine dining. Will come back next time we travel to Porto. Huge shoutout to the staff🙏🏽

I had walked by this place many times and finally stopped in yesterday. I am gluten free (celiac) and so I was just expecting to get a coffee and fruit or something simple. To my surprise and delight, they have GLUTEN FREE bread!!!! I had a delicious eggs benedict-type-thing with poached eggs, spinach and tomato chutney. It was amazing. I know I will go back a lot since it is close to home now. So happy to have wandered in.

A spectacular place to eat. We made a reservation at 12 to eat at 1:30 p.m. as it is a busy place. A menu with many options for celiacs and prices that (from my point of view) are quite justified (without being super high prices).

They have gluten-free pizzas! It would be nice if they advertised them more! We found out by chance, so we stopped by and asked. The menu outside didn't mention it, but they later gave us one that did (+3€ extra). The pizza was a bit pricey, but it's always good to have options.
