This was our favorite restaurant in all of Southern Africa! My husband and I ordered almost every entree on the vegan menu (11 dishes), including their 3 course set menu with 3 sides (we're foodies!). Every single one was delicious and made with fresh, healthy ingredients. My favorite was the Defin Misir Alicha - a brown lentil dish. I am going to try to find a recipe to make it back home in America! My husband raved about every dish that was seasoned with Berbere. He ordered a cocktail (the Spice Ethiopian Tosgne) which he still talks about because it was so good (and he's very picky about his cocktails, since he's an unofficial expert mixologist). The service was exceptional. Our waiter (Linga?) was friendly and cheerful, prompt, personable, and respectful. The brief interactions we had with other waiters (and I think the owner) were all remarkably friendly. Our courses felt perfectly timed - neither rushed nor tardy. Our waiter even noticed that after the sun set, there were some mosquitoes near our outdoor table (we hadn't noticed) and was thoughtful enough to bring out some burning frankincense to repel them. It worked and smelled great! Everything looked and felt clean. The tables, chairs, plates, and decor all crafted an atmosphere that felt authentic, pleasant, and not overdone. They had so many options that we'd be comfortable bringing people there with all kinds of different needs - people who don't like spice or love spice, vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, dairy-free, whatever. It's very accommodating.

An incredible spot for delicious food, drinks, and desserts! The menu offers a fantastic variety, including great options for vegans and celiacs. We absolutely loved the Spicy Sushi Stack and Basil Pesto Gnocchi—both were bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. This was our second visit in just a few days, which says it all! The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, making the experience even better. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

I've been going to Babette's for more than 2 years and I'm simply in love with their new space at the Sprig Wellness Centre! It's so beautiful, calm and relaxing! I have had almost every dish on Babette's menu and I love that it is healthy, farm to table style meals without any nasty ingredients. Fran, the owner is absolutely divine and always share such nice foodie tips with me when we visit! Highly recommend the gluten free, refined sugar free cheesecake and their halloumi salad - my absolute go-to's!

I'm celiac, so I can't eat gluten at all. At the menu there are some dishes marked as gluten free, but always double check with the kitchen / waitress if it's 100% save. We went there two times and I always had the fish. It's delicious and I didn't had any problems. So totally recommend this place.

Food was good. Dessert was fantastic! Server at first didn't understand my allergy (celiac disease). Almost lost all confidence, but then the chef came out and immediately felt safe to eat here. He basically could alter half the menu for me. Had Nacho's which were okay. However the dessert was amazeballs! Would go back there. Also, no allergic reaction! :)

The food is some of the best I have ever had. we shared 2 lots of tacos & each had the brisket that melted in your mouth. I truly haven't had food quite like it before. The price is extremely valuable for the quality & location. The staff were exceptional, very kind & very knowledgeable. My friend is gluten-free and had plenty of great options available.

Lazari – A little café with a big heart Lazari is one of those places that makes you feel instantly welcome – whether you're a local or just passing by. This morning, I met my sportgrouo friends there for a wholesome vegan breakfast: gluten-free Bircher muesli with dry coconut, blueberries and apples, a fresh carrot juice, a fiery ginger shot, and a warm, comforting cup of mesquite – now my favourite caffeine-free café-style drink. Usually, I’m not vegan, but with a retreat coming up tomorrow, I wanted to skip animal products – and this breakfast was just perfect to feel light and a little detoxed. And I normally don’t like almond milk, but here it was surprisingly delicious – smooth and satisfying. With its mix of small, cosy tables and larger ones for lively gatherings, Lazari offers space for connection and calm alike. And at the heart of it all is Linda, Michelle and her team who brings soul and sparkle to this beloved neighbourhood spot. I’ll definitely be back – to savour more flavours, support this sweet buzzing hub, and soak in the friendly, feel-good vibe.

Eclectic! Great food and bakes cooked on the premises - you can see them baking. Amazing industrial chic mixed with mysterious but classy junk shop vibes - can easily get lost (figuratively) just wandering around an absolute gem and the coffee is pretty good. Excellent gluten free bread.

Stop most food and drink options at 3 pm and staff are generally unhelpful or unable to assist. The closing time of 430 pm is misleading as if you arrive at 4 pm most things are packed away. Prices are very high for what you get. During lunch it takes a long time to order and receive your food so if you have less than an hour it is better to go somewhere else. Having said that they offer a large variety of gluten free, vegan and vegetarian foods especially many sweet options/smoothies which are difficult to find at other restaurants. They have convenient parking which is provided free for Nourished customers and is leased by the restaurant (although the attendant looks belligerent and tries to imply that he owns the lot and should be paid for time spent in the nourished parking.) I would prefer a car guard.

Just stopped for brunch and sat at the bar overlooking Camps Bay. Lovely location and views, matched by great service and super tasty food. The breakfast bap was delicious and the gluten free options are excellent. Bathrooms are spotlessly clean, too. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend this hidden little gem! Family run establishment, with incredibly friendly management and staff. The venue is dog friendly outside, with a sweet little play area for the kiddies. Food includes a wide selection of delicious meals - I have never been disappointed! Menu has great vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Breakfasts are delicious and the coffee comes in any size you want. A must visit in Hout Bay for breakfast or lunch.

We were 4 diners. My daughter has Celiac disease so we specifically went to Maria’s because they advertised gluten free food. The food was amazingly good! But the manager was rude and abrasive, very dismissive when we asked for assurance that the food was prepared separately. When we got our starters, her gluten free starter was placed next to pita bread that was NOT gluten free, thus contaminating her food. When we pointed this out to the manager, he simply shrugged and left. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. And also apologetic about another table that was very loud, causing us to not stay for dessert because the noise level was simply too high! The only down side about the food was the baklava fingers we ordered as take away. They were vile! Tasted only of cinnamon. I’m Greek so I know how they should taste. Very disappointing dessert, don’t order that!

We came to them because it was written on the menu that there were gluten-free dishes. When we arrived for breakfast they said that the gluten free dishes are pizza and pasta and they are not served because there is a breakfast menu. We took an omelette that was really satisfying. The coffee was good, the chocolate was not.. more delicious than chocolate.

We had lunch here on the recommendation of a local. Unfortunately, the audacity of others won out when it came to allocating tables, but in the end we also got a table with a great view. The gluten-free wrap with extra salmon tasted and looked excellent and was very filling. Nevertheless, a dessert couldn't be missing from the selection, which excited me even more. Ultimately, too much was deducted from the bill, but we didn't complain about this because of the good food.
