Had dinner here last night. Booked in advance and indicated that someone with a gluten allergy was present. They dealt with it very well, explained everything clearly from their own point of view on how they dealt with it. They knew exactly what they were talking about. The food was super tasty, good, fast service and a cozy atmosphere on the terrace.
Highly recommended, we will definitely come back!
Lack of vegan options, all pasta is fresh with egg.
Only a gluten free pasta with tomato sauce.
Service was excellent and cannot fault the staff. Only the menu
Very cozy restaurant. Gluten-free pasta and many other dishes also gluten-free. It is very clearly indicated and they also have a gluten-free (and lactose-free) menu!😊
Amazing restaurant, interior design is beautiful.
The food is very good and several food options are available: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free.
I recommend this place
THOMS Restaurant & Underground Bar in Rotterdam offers a vibrant atmosphere with tasty food and excellent drinks, including delicious wines, various beers, and top cocktails. The staff is very nice, and the establishment is highly recommended.
The venue also caters to gluten-free diners, providing options upon request.
Overall, it's a great spot for lunch or dinner, with notable dishes like their nachos.
Proper American diner with huge portions and beautiful setting. We both had the Full Jarmusch and we were impressed with the portion size. The favourite items on my plate were the hashbrowns, and the least favourite were probably the chicken sausages which were too seasoned for my liking. Delicious coffee (we had flat whites) and the atmosphere is very nice and lively! Would go again but try the pancakes instead! Oh and bonus points for the gluten-free toast!
Lots of choice of different beers, including non-alcoholic/low-alcohol beer. There are several gluten-free options on the drinks menu. Staff was not that friendly, couldn't smile. Shame! Also a great place for a drink.
Very tasty meal. The hotpot base soup was flavorful and the ingredients were tasty. They took dietary requirements into account and have an allergen card. The allergens are also clearly listed on the app. It is possible to eat gluten-free, lactose-free and, for example, without garlic (onion and garlic, etc). They only have soy sauce and oyster sauce with gluten. Thank you!
Very good service!! I have celiac disease myself and they took this very well into account. No risks were taken and everything was prepared in separate pans. If they didn't know something about gluten/cross-contamination, they asked me. Service also very friendly. Highly recommended!
We were staying close by so decided to visit the old harbour area on the first evening. It was pretty busy and as we only wanted a drink and a dessert we wandered around enjoying the atmosphere.
A waiter from Matelief asked if he could help and we were shown inside which was lovely and cool and also smoke free. We had a great view without being surrounded by other diners.
We opted for decaf coffee and desserts: one enormous portion of a very tasty Dutch apple pie and a silky smooth piece of gluten free chocolate tart, both decorated with a couple of fresh raspberries.
Can’t believe that I didn’t take photos of our desserts!
Most people were sitting outside so it was relatively quiet inside with just background music playing.
The staff were all lovely- friendly and smiling.
It is definitely somewhere that I would like to visit again.
We love to enjoy wine & good food in a great atmosphere. And every time we come here we get to enjoy all at once and to the fullest.
We especially appreciate how they adapt the meals to be gluten free and yet give the same experience.
We've come here many times already and we're certain that many more times will follow.
Only now discovered this restaurant: wow! This is worth repeating. I haven't had such a tasty tuna steak in years. Super fresh sashimi as a starter, yammm! Small point for improvement: provide gluten-free bake-off rolls. (Hanos or AH!) Small effort, big gesture. Fig bread just before sashimi is no match...
First a big disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian, so a hamburger joint is probably not the most logical choice for me. Still, I want to share my opinion so that fellow vegetarians (and others) may find it helpful.
🪑 setting - You can sit inside (two floors, environment reminiscent of a pub, everything a bit tight and narrow and not really very comfortable seating). Outside there is a terrace, covered with a large awning and parasols and equipped with patio heating. However, we saw people smoking there, so we sat inside. The music was super loud (Friday evening), the three of us sat around a small table and had difficulty hearing each other. We also sat next to the toilet that opens directly into the dining area (upstairs), so there was a less pleasant smell around our table every time someone went in or out.
🧑🍳 service -.Five stars for the service. Very friendly, quick and regularly checked if everything was in order.
🥗 the food - I wasn't blown away by it. Of course I opted for a vegetarian hamburger. Even though the menu states that almost all burgers can be served with a vegetarian patty, there are in reality only three options that can easily be converted to a vegetarian version without having to remove many ingredients. My burger was okay, but not very special. The bun was nice and soft, but the patty honestly looked like a vegetable burger from the supermarket. For the price you pay here for a burger, I would have expected something like the patty from Beyond Meat. My table companions had a meat burger and they liked it. The fries were very good and it was no problem to serve the sausage separately. Tried the Snickers tiramisu for dessert. The first few bites were tasty, then it was very difficult because it was very sweet.
🍹 the drinks - Nice menu, a number of beers on tap including their own brew and also some nice cocktails.
🌱 Dietary requirements - Vegan food is possible but not very special. I saw that they also have gluten-free sandwiches.
🚽 facilities - A spacious and clean toilet.
💰 Value for money - Not for me personally, but possibly for a meat eater. The burgers are certainly not cheap, but they are slightly more special in terms of ingredients than in most other comparable places.
Very cozy tent. The food was surprisingly tasty, with gluten-free food taken into account.
The service was also great, despite the fact that the waiter had to manage the entire terrace on his own. Respect!
The location is nice, water close by, not too busy street and the terrace is quite large.
The inside is also very nice, I didn't expect it to be so spacious there.
Neat toilets - not entirely unimportant.
