Love the concept of the food and what they are trying to achieve. Also loved the thought they had for QR codes to different orgs to donate to in lieu of a tip.
But alas the 2 stars are for a reason.
I am celiac (GF) so I ordered the kimchi fries, weekly celeriac bisque, and the grain bowl. My boyfriend ordered the gnocchi. Total around $60. None of the food we bought were finished.
Kimchi Fries 3.5/5 - probably the thing I liked the most out of all the things. Really crunchy and flavorful. I wish I would have taken a picture because what I envisioned were potato waffle Fries with kimchi on top or something. What it was was a sort of kimchi and batter pressed into a waffle mold. Overall would give this a 3.5/5. The ginger and other aromatics in the Fries + the additional aromatics in the sauce eventually felt very "soapy" and too fragrant after a few bites. To be fully honest I also am not super confident it was gf given the texture but that's just my celiac fear more than anything. Just mentioning it in case any other gf people are reading.
Bisque 0/5- pre warning that I am not a big celery person but the very nice helper said it was more similar to a parsnip bisque (and she was right) though unfortunately the soup itself had almost no flavor whatsoever. Very bland and wasn't even worth finishing. Texture was solid.
Grain bowl 3/5 - i was super excited for this since it has so many different toppings on there and the vegetables and mushrooms were cooked very well. But it was ultimately still pretty bland and lackluster. Not worth finishing or eating again.
Gnocchi 3.7/5. (Bf review)- flavor for most people would probably be enjoyable but got to be too earthy for his taste. The gnnochi itself was very oily and he couldn't finish all of them since some seemed to be too gummy and almost not cooked all the way. Not finished either.
Staff was very nice and area had lots of outside seating and parking.
