A cute restaurant with scenic outside seating. Great margarita and service was very nice.
A word of warning for those who are gluten- free. I ordered the gluten-free Cobb salad, and it came out with a big pile of croutons. Another menu item marked gluten-free had a soy sauce based sauce. Making it not actually gluten-free unless you tell your waiter to leave off the sauce. Might not be the safest option for those with sensitivity or celiac.
A hidden gem with a variety of flavorful plates and delicious drinks, perfect for a satisfying family meal that leaves you wanting more.

Honestly a money grab for mid service and not great food. Crazy fees. Server was knowledgeable about celiac disease and helped with gluten allergy menu.
This spot stands out for its sizable portions and standout tuna tacos, making it a favorite destination for food lovers in Port Aransas.

October Taco Margarita Trail.
Number one 5 star of all restaurants so far. Great portions & delicious Tuna Tacos ... did lettuce wrap tacos for my gluten-free wife, also a generous side of rice & black beans. Margarita was yummy!
Had a very enjoyable meal. One of the owner's is a celiac so the restaurant can completely take care of anyone in your party that needs that.
I had the lime and coconut drink. It was not your standard tiki drink and was excellent, not to sweet and all natural. Big frozen thing, perfect for a summer beach visit.
It is a little pricey but you get what you pay for.
FYI, Port Aransas is a mess on the weekend with all the people coming over. Every decent restaurant on the island is going to be jammed with drunk partiers and cranky kids. The staff will be maxed out. Don't hold that against whatever restaurant you went to. If you want relaxing, go during the week.
This was our second visit to PA and to Castaways. We loved each visit: from the greeting to the service, the atmosphere and the food.
We visited over the 4th of July weekend. It was busy, but was to be expected. We visited the quaint little shops next door. We didn’t know there was a whole “hidden” garden area in the back with some amazing shops/people. (If you haven’t been to Flip Flops back there, do so :-). ) the stores were full of beautiful clothes and other items... many of which are unique to the area. (Much different than the “island shops” closer to the main road - even though I love those, too. These were refreshing.)
Our waitress, Jacque, was amazing, despite the rush. She was careful to tend to my allergy needs (seafood restaurants can be a tough place to get gluten-free items but she did it) she brought my plate first/separate from the rest of my table, so as to not cross contaminate. The shrimp & fish with coleslaw and veggies was amazing <3.
We will definitely eat here again on our next visit. :-)
