Quirky B&B in the heart of Ambleside features a fab café, bakery delights, and stylish accommodations, but watch out for low ceilings in some rooms.

Very highly recommended. Overall, an excellent B&B in the centre of Ambleside with a café and its own bakery. It has a slightly quirky off-beat feel but it is high quality. All the staff were terrific. BUT beware of the being allocated an attic room where there are two low roof beams, a step and low archway from the room front door into the bedroom and a low ceiling as you exit the room to go down the stairs. However, we passed rooms on the lower floors and they looked fabulous.
Breakfast in the café next door was enormous with gluten avoiding options and great coffee! The bakery makes excellent bread and cakes, fresh every day. The bath buns are enormous and my non coeliac wife drooled!
As the gluten containing products and gluten free products are baked in the same bakery, the café quite correctly informs those of the Coeliac persuasion that while the gluten free products are made with non gluten ingredients, the bakery cannot guarantee that there is no cross contamination with gluten containing products. I had gluten free bread for breakfast and sampled the café’s gluten free falafel wrap and apple pie, all of which were excellent and I had no digestive problems. Those who are very sensitive with the Coeliac allergy might feel the need to avoid these gluten avoiding products.
Parking in front of the B&B is limited and difficult to access but there is plenty of designated off-street parking a couple of minutes away.
Enjoy a cozy vibe with daily menu updates, generous portions, and a variety of options that cater to different dietary needs.

Great night at lucy's on a plate.
The menus are printed daily with a lovely daily notice on the front which i thought was a lovely touch.
The food was delicious, great portion sizes and there were lots of gluten free options for my boyfriend.
The steak was cooked great and was served with a heaping of garlic butter and peppercorn sauce (the garlic butter is insane)
My only downside of the food was the chicken was slightly overcooked but the flavours of the dish and other components were great so balanced it out
Staff were on the whole good, welcoming. Knocked a star off because the relaxed environment meant that staff often were talking a lot to the guests and it took a while to get our orders in.
A cozy spot with a sunny garden, perfect for catching up with friends and enjoying a vibrant atmosphere after a day outdoors.

Delicious breakfast and excellent coffee! Stopping through Ambleside on our way to Penrith after some hiking and couldn't recommend Copper Pot enough! Suitable for the coffee snobs, a range of vegetarian, dairy free and gluten free options with plenty of delicious cakes. Reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful staff, we were made to feel very welcome immediately. Even though the menu states "We don't have a build your own menu option" staff were very happy to swap bread around, remove items, offer additional sauces etc. Plenty of dogs inside and out, we would definitely recommend (especially for anyone missing their dose of a Melbourne-like cafe) !
*One thing I would advise is arriving early on the weekend if you don't have a booking. We walked in as a group of two and were seated straight away but literally the last table free, 5 minutes after opening. Food service was quick though so people after us weren't waiting too long for a table.
A hidden gem with authentic dishes, a welcoming vibe, and attentive service that ensures a delightful dining experience every time.

It’s always tricky eating out as a coeliac (gluten allergy), however I really appreciated the effort that the staff went to this evening to rectify a mistake with my order of gluten free food. A whole new meal was cooked and they provided a drink on the house. The food and atmosphere were both great. Thanks team!

The food was absolutely stunning! The presentation was top-notch. 👌 Delicious gluten-free options, as they usually tend to be tasteless. I will definitely come back and bring friends and family because even the meat-eater
loved it too! The flavor and meal options were superb!
A fantastic spot with unique decor and a welcoming vibe, perfect for a cozy evening out with friends or your pup!

We came here on our first nights stay in Ambleside, and it turned out to be our favourite restaurant of the week!
The food was excellent, and the cocktails are also very good, particularly the margaritas.
They were very helpful with accommodating my gluten intolerance with a lot of gluten free options to chose from, and also dog friendly! Highly recommend.

Brilliant cafe to visit if you're ever in Grasmere! Stumbled across Harley's and wasn't sure what to expect but really pleased we did! Staff were extremely helpful, and there was a great selection of tea/coffee, beers/wines/spirits, hot food and cake.
They had the best selection of Gluten free cakes and puddings! The warmed up GF apple pie and ice-cream is excellent! Milkshakes looked great too!
They're dog friendly, so make sure to pop in if you're passing!
This cozy spot serves up authentic Mexican flavors with a welcoming vibe that keeps you coming back for more!

The food here is incredible, extremely welcoming atmosphere. Come in for a chat with the owner and find out where your food comes from :) (p.s if you’re GF or coeliac you’re gonna want to come visit, their entire menu is GF)

What a lovely find!
Stumbled across this place looking for a place to eat on saturday night and the waiter did his best to get us in.
The staff were wonderful with our allergens. The menu is helpfully listed but the staff took extra care to make sure the food we ate was safe for gluten, nuts and prawns!
The food was absolutely incredible too! I had a wonderful meal with lots of delicious thai flavours. My favourite dish has to be the chicken phad seyu - that was absolutely delicious.
A must-visit spot in Ambleside for unique, quality food with ever-changing flavors and an impressive selection of deli-style products.

We ordered the gluten free nachos and a butter pie. The pie was perfection, and as a Wiganer I know my way around a pie.
The mrs is gluten free and there was loads of options available.

We recently had a really lovely anniversary meal here. The food and service were outstanding and the team were able to make a gluten free vegetarian meal for my wife and that didn't seem to a problem at all. It was such a great evening. Thanks.
A fantastic spot with a lively atmosphere, offering an impressive variety of beers and plenty of room to unwind after a day of adventures.

Absolutely brilliant in here.
We visit Ambleside regularly and have always wandered past saying we need to go in, so a couple of weeks ago on our most recent visit we went in for a couple of drinks earlier in the day then for food later on.
It’s Dog Friendly which is great for us, had plenty of Gluten Free options which we also require and a high chair available for our little boy.
There’s a great selection on draft including plenty of good ales along with some from the Salt Brewery which is fantastic.
The food was top notch, we had some fantastic loaded burgers and chips but the pizzas which were being brought out looked delightful and think next time we return I’ll be trying one of these.
Lovely atmosphere, plenty of room, great ale and class food, 10/10 for this place.
It’s located right next to Rydal Road Car Park so nice and convenient for all.
A hidden gem with a cozy vibe, perfect for a casual outing where pups are welcome—highly recommended for a fun time!

Pleasantly surprised when we found this place when passing, the food was great and they also catered for my gluten free diet. A bonus to us was the fact that they were dog friendly (limited tables) which enabled us to enjoy the experience without having to get it in a takeaway. Highly recommend
