Always come here as my husband is coeliac and they do lovely gluten free fish and chips. They were lovely and brown this time. Someone said they might have been night before chips but if they were they tasted lovely
I stopped by on Thursday and inquired about gluten free scones (I’m English, but live in the United States). Unfortunately, they were out, but the chef stepped out and said he would make some and I could come back by later on that day or the next day. I went by just before they closed on the same day and the chef had made both fruit and cheese scones! As they were closing I picked some up to take away. They were excellent! I loved them so much, I returned with my spouse and cousin for breakfast the next day (also excellent) and we bought 3 different gf desserts (all absolutely fantastic!). Not only was the entire staff understanding and incredibly nice (they all went far above and beyond), the food is outstanding and the scones and desserts are not to be missed. I give The Cottage Kitchen food and staff my absolute highest recommendation.
For people not concerned with gluten I still give the Cottage Kitchen my highest recommendation as the food is absolutely outstanding. The breakfasts were fabulous and the desserts are sinfully delicious.
Had a really lovely meal. Food was amazing and I love that I can stuff my face even though I’m gluten free. Our waiter Lucy was really helpful and efficient. I’ve heard a rumour that you’re moving to app ordering. I hate this idea. Please don’t.
Absolutely delicious food. I was able to bring my gluten and dairy free partner here and there was plenty to choose from. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, really really yummy!
We had a lovely evening here Saturday for my birthday. Separate allergy menu was lovely for one family member who needs gluten free food and she had a good selection to choose from.
Staff serving were great, helpful and friendly throughout the evening. We shared some sides instead of all having starters and all chose different main courses that all arrived at the same time.
Thoroughly great time had by us all.
Lovely cosy inn, lovely home made hearty food and a nice atmosphere. Dog friendly, made a massive fuss of our dog. They have a help yourself dog basket with bowls, biscuits and blankets in
Food was lovely. We both had a burger, partners was GF so minus the bun then we both had sticky toffee pudding. Again gluten free available so nice for him to have that. Decent portion sizes, burger was homemade, lovely thick and juicy. Toffee pudding was lovely too. Next time we’ll try one of the specials on the board. Prices were great too for the area as we’ve been to previous places and they charge an arm and a leg for meals!
Decent place. They have a separate vegan and gluten free menu. Sufficient choices for all dietary preferences. I ordered a chicken flatbread but it had too much sauce. Hoping they can fix this.
Staff was helpful and service was quick.
Went for a breakfast on the weekend and after ordering, the chef here came out especially to check which of the vegan breakfast items would be OK for me, as I am celiac. I was then served most delicious breakfast...Hence I had to come and leave a review, as that level of customer care is really appreciated!
We came here after reading a review on here that there were good Vegan friendly options, unfortunately there weren't on our visit - except classic beans on toast or a baked potato. More focussed towards Gluten Free.
The staff were really kind to strip down a Veggie cheeseburger to make it vegan, it was ok very dry without any spread/condiments.
The garden seating area is lovely, we got it when it was sunny and just at the end of Summer, it was great it's dog friendly inside and out
We didn't go for any ice-cream, again because there were no Vegan friendly options, my parents didn't either as to not make us feel left out, there were a few options for ice-cream though, we thought there'd be loads more being Ice-Cream Parlour but they did look nice.
Very impressed with this establishment great service .The food was good value for money and very tasty .Great choice of wine we had a bottle of red .The gluten free options were very good .All in all a very good experience well done to the staff .
Lovely dog friendly place to eat. Had the breakfast which was really nice. Water and dog treats for the pooches. Very good value for money and the staff are lovely. Gluten free options spot on! Thank you
We went for the first time today and will definitely be coming back! They were so friendly and welcoming, which made our visit even better. Being vegan and wheat intolerant, it is often hard to find places to eat, but most of the menu could be adapted to be gluten free. The food was great and my husband said the Bakewell cake was the best he has tasted! Great place.
We came here a few weeks ago after seeing they stocked the bags of Red Bank coffee that we use at home.
It's a really light and spacious place and would be great for doing some WFH on the single desks, as well as meeting up with friends. The fire in the centre of the room makes it feel warm and cosy and, most importantly, the barista's really make a great coffee. There's also a good selection of cakes that include gluten free and vegan bakes to ensure that everyone is catered for.
Overall, a great addition to Kendal and we'll no doubt be back there soon!
We arrived late after driving up from the south and we're delighted to find the restaurant open and able to accommodate us. The staff were friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough to make sure we were looked after. I'm coeliac and we're all dairy free. The staff made sure that all our meals were made to our needs and we were really impressed by how delicious, fresh and light everything was. We had Tom Yum soup and fish cakes to start - all super yummy. And then a garlic chilli pak choi steamed salmon dish, some minced spiced chicken, and a veggie & tofu red curry with jasmine and coconut rice. All delicious, all freshly made - we're super duper happy customers. Oh, also the venue itself us lovely and clean and the decor is very stylish and elegant.

Thank you to Amporn and Eric, we had the most delicious meal imaginable from Thai Kitchen in Lakeland a few weekends ago! I came across Amporn's website when I was organising a friend's hen do. Amporn and Eric replied quickly to every email contact I made with them and were hugely helpful with their replies to my many queries. They went out of their way to accommodate all my party's difficult requests: including gluten-free, dairy-free, yeast-free and vegetarian! Some requests were only revealed close to the date yet they still catered for us seamlessly as if nothing was too much trouble! They provided such a delicious (and huge) meal and presented it and cleared up with such care, yet left us to get on with eating as if they weren't there. We had a fantastic evening with amazing food. Their service was professional, accommodating and generally wonderful! The Thai food was to everyone's taste and we couldn't recommend it highly enough.
What a find we were on holiday and the wife said I fancy an Italian which is usually Gino de Campo so we popped I to La Pekora the service from our waiter was warm and friendly and he wore a collar and tie which is rare these days. I had a special which was the beef stroganoff which was amazing. My wife is coeliac so she was delighted when there were gluten free pasta and pizza which she described as delicious . Would heartily recommend this restaurant if you are in kendal
