As a coeliac, I can't even begin to describe how amazing the gluten free scone was. I was half tempted to cry. I've never had a scone that hasn't fallen to absolute bits in my hands, and to know they actually make them in house is even better. The clotted cream, the jam, and the tea comes from within a 20-mile radius of the shop, and you can tell as the quality is immense. Highly recommended for everyone, but especially us coeliacs as they truly understand.
Charming fishing village vibe with excellent service, dog-friendly atmosphere, and top-notch crispy fish and chips to complete your visit.

THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED!!
What has happened?!?! Has there been a change in management in recent times?
This place was the "GO TO" each summer we visit this beautiful harbour town. There was always a queue on the street to wait and that was always OK, we didbt mind, because everything used to be absolutely outstanding.
Excited for this summers return trip with the family, we raced down the hill from the car park to find that there was no queue outside (bit odd on a bank holiday weekend, this place had them queing outside the street year on year) furthermore, some random DJ advertisement on the window outside and I instantly thought "What's happened?!?"
Upon entering the premises we found no sign of the familiar friendly staff waiting to greet us and sit us down. Furthermore there was no sign to say "sorry this isn't table service anymore" either, just a cold stare from a dark haired girl behind the bar and a point to a table in the window.
My heart sank, I knew this place had changed and it was starting to feel like I had never been here before.
After 10 minutes of waiting, I went to the bar to ask "is it order at the bar now?" The lady nodded and pointed to some menus on a nearby dresser. Why not have a sign to tell the returning customers that service has now changed? Think of the customer journey.
The food was higher in price which was to be expected in this cost of living crisis, but if the quality was the same then we wouldn't mind. We are certainly all for supporting small businesses.
The fish and chips used to be crispy, light and all the batter used to be gluten free, no matter who ordered. It was the standard recipe. The peas used to be salty and minted accompanied by the most delicious creamy homemade tarter sauce. This is what had us returning year after year!!! Well sadly it's nothing like this now. 😢 It's a cheap HEINZ sachet of sauce, a small dollop of some bland mushy peas and the chips tasted like they had been reheated (starchy!!)
I was in despair, what had happened to our beloved holiday eating spot!! 😢 The GF fish batter was the soggy, pale, bicarbonate of soda rubbish you get anywhere, it's cheap and nasty. Where has that secret recipe gone?? This place used to be a cut above the rest, a reason to travel into Mevagissey, and now ... it's... just an average place to eat. The quality is on par with a weatherspoons but more expensive.
Absolutely gutted, it must have changed hands, what a huge shame!! Our family tradition of eating here is now over and we are on the hunt for a new place.
Its just not the same. I agree with the other customers statement that previous reviews are no longer valid, they are of the old days, the old management and old team.
New management need to work this out or they will certainly keep losing customers.
EDIT IN RESPONSE:
1) No one came to check on us or how the food was, the establishment as you say is "bar service"
2) We did ask for fresh tarter sauce and was told its no longer part of the menu.
3) If you see our previous reviews you will know we have eaten at many a 5* restaurant and your chef certainly isnt at this standard at all. Perhaps some porkie pies on the CV ???
4) it does unfortunately look like that across Google, trip advisor and more the negative reviews are starting to stack up. We can't all be wrong?

My wife and I book our holidays locally and without fail we visit Little Bay Cafe. My wife is gluten intolerant and they do excellent brie bacon and cranberry baguettes. In fact we have virtually worked our way through the entire menu and have enjoyed every bite! The coffees are really mellow and prepared properly. The Cornish cream teas are a delight and they have an excellent range of cakes, the Rocky Road is divine. The service is first class. All the staff work hard, and it shows in the quality of service. Having been in the catering industry for over 25 years I feel I'm reasonably qualified to know the true meaning of an excellent service!!

Today was a return visit, having been here two years ago, and just as good as last time! Best coffee, great atmosphere, delicious food (we had banana & maple crěpes) and very friendly staff. Plenty of dairy-free/plant-based cake & ice-cream choices and oat or soya milk & gluten-free options, too. Will be back again, again! 😄
Experience an incredible menu packed with options, where dishes are expertly crafted to satisfy cravings and provide comfort.

As a Coeliac Girl, I haven’t had a Chinese in over 2 years… this place is amazing for gluten free dishes! Our server Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and safe dishes and the kitchen went above and beyond for me, even making epic stir fry rice noodles. 80% of the menu is gf anyway, but it was so comforting to have the security of Ryan and the team’s knowledge. Definitely will be coming back!

Fantastic quality food and cooking.
Visited several times, always A*.
Recommend going for something other than steak, as when the cookings this good, you will be rewarded in letting them show their skills. Not to say it won’t be a great steak…!
What’s really great to see is the effort that goes into the menu for vegetarians, Celiacs. Near every course can be made suitable for various dietary requirements and its clearly shown. Well done 👏
This was the Cod with colcannon potatoes and wild mushrooms. Fantastic.

Not been here for 20 years. Booked it for my best friend's birthday. She's awkward (a coeliac). Was every bit as good as I remembered it. My friend had exactly what she wanted off the menu, no compromise. I will not leave it so long to return.
Known for its tasty offerings and cozy vibe, this place is a go-to for hearty portions and a chill, dog-friendly atmosphere.

Delicious food today, good gluten free options available. Friendly helpful staff and dog friendly. We had chicken wings to start then beef rigatoni (penne) as GF and lamb shank. Service fantastic, would recommend stopping if your hungry.
This harborside gem impresses with stunning presentations and a variety of flavors that make every dish a visual delight.

We are here twice whilst we were staying in Mevagissey and it did not disappoint either time. The food was amazing, and a decent sized portion, we could only do one course and we came out stuffed each time! I have coeliac disease and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting what could be changed so dishes were gluten free. They have gluten free rolls so are able to do all the burgers and anything that comes with bread as a side gluten free. All the fish we had was extremely fresh and cooked perfectly. We would definitely return, was our favourite in Mevagissey!
Chill vibe with a great selection of local produce and tasty options, perfect for those seeking fresh finds and delightful drinks.

We had a brilliant visit to Trevithick And Trays Farm Shop And Cafe this morning.
The sausage, bacon, and egg baps were delicious – and my partner was really pleased that they offered a gluten-free bread option for her bap, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
The hot chocolate was lovely and warming, and the Americano was a hit too.
What's also great is that they have a nice farm shop and even undercover outdoor seating for those with dogs.
A real gem of a place, we'll definitely be returning.
Enjoy a cozy atmosphere at this bustling local pub, perfect for gatherings with great drinks and a dog-friendly vibe.

Travelled nearly 200 miles only to find kitchen was closed so no food. We especially picked the Crown as the pub had lots of Gluten free options. The pub was in a pretty village and easily accessible from the main road.

Really good, local place, nice seating area tucked out the way really chilled out atmosphere. Staff are super friendly, and there is a great selection of freshly made sandwiches etc available. Gluten free option is catered for with Genius rolls, of which we got two of them per order stuffed with fillings. Highly highly recommended
Visited the Charlestown fish co. a couple of weeks back during a staycation down south. As someone suffering from celiacs disease it is often very difficult to find food that is safe and tasty for me to eat. Boy oh boy, did I hit the jackpot here! Not only was the food delicious, the views amazing and the service great. But I initially sent a message over Facebook enquiring about gluten free options and the response was very quick. I came away from Charlestown fish Co. Happy and full of delicious food!
This spot offers a vibrant vibe, fresh specials like scallops, and standout dishes like generous fish fingers and amazing onion rings.

Came here yesterday with friends for lunch. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was really good. I had the scallops which were a special. They were lovely and fresh, melting in my mouth as I ate them. They were more than happy to cater to my friends gluten and lactose dietary requirements. The fish finger sandwich was a generous portion with fish fingers made from whole fresh fish and the onion rings were the best we've had. Lovely atmosphere and I'll definitely be returning next time I am back in Cornwall.
