Celiac here AND LET ME TELL YOU HOW AMAZING THIS ICE CREAM SHOP IS!! I did a lot of research before we came here. I have celiac and my son is gluten intolerant. We both had the gluten free waffle cone and a scoop of GF ice cream. All of their products have an allergen and ingredient list for the customer to look at. I felt extremely safe eating here and the staff were so knowledgeable and helpful. I kid you not, the best, BEST ice cream and waffle cone I have had since being diagnosed with celiac. I wish we didn't live hours away because it would be a regular stop for the family. At least I know where we are going for ice cream EVERY time we visit Hatteras!! Thank you for making this celiac's heart and taste buds very happy!!

Tavern on 12 was delicious. We sat outside and the temperature was amazing along with the food.
Their menu is well marked for gluten free. My celiac husband was able to eat safely here. We tried the oysters Rockefeller and they were out of this world! No breadcrumbs but contained collards, country ham and bacon in a creamy sauce. Our server checked for us and the sauce is made using cornstarch as a thickener so celiac safe. He also had the wings which are oven roasted and don’t contain breading. Sauce choice was Kansas City bbq and he said their were great.
