Fika is one of my most favorite stops when we come up to the Northwoods. This trip I discovered how incredibly easy it is to place a bakery order and an order for the latte in a jug. It’s brilliant. The best part is the gluten free options they have and so I indulged and ordered a dozen gluten free strawberry basil muffins. The strawberries come from Clearwater Farms just down the road from the cabin we are staying in. This will now become a tradition on our trips - place an online order for a special treat for the week.

The new owner at Pine Isle is fantastic. I called on our way over in our two boats only to find out they were closed for some freshening up. The owner offered to cook us burgers and hot dogs. We had a crew of 20 including kids who were hungry for some lunch. That was so kind and he went above and beyond to serve us. He even had gluten free buns for the two of us that can’t have gluten. Stop in and say hi to the new owner. The food was great.

Quick seating on a Thursday evening, was not very busy in indoor dining area- bar was mildly busy- as many have mentioned, it took quite a long time to actually get food after ordering. Waitress forgot to bring dinner salad. Drinks also had a long wait time-(at the dinner table) it's the north woods- every restaurant seems to take forever. Positives were friendly people, shrimp dinner was tasty, perch basket was good with decent sized pieces. Can also get a gluten free pizza here. GF pizza was decent, regular pizzas were passable.
