Wonderful brunch experience. Even though the line to order went out the door, it moves fast, and there is a ton of seating inside. Great coffee drinks, and a fun menu with a Burmese twist, including house-made gluten-free pastry options. I had the Big Breakfast Plate -- excellent. All the servers were kind, helpful and polite. Highly recommended.

A MUST! we come here every time we visit Ojai. The food is fantastic. It tastes fresh and is bursting with flavor. Some of our faves are mushroom goat cheese tacos, breakftast burrito, avocado toast with chickpeas. Oh the pizzas are really great too. They have plenty of gluten free, vegan options in both the savory dishes and sweets. I cancelled my reservation at an expensive restaurant in town to go to this place one last time before we left town.
This inviting spot offers a warm interior and a relaxed, sports-bar atmosphere ideal for gluten-free diners seeking comfort and familiarity. The welcoming setting and attentive service create an amazing experience for those appreciating gluten-free options in a casual environment.

Great pizza! The gluten-free crust is pretty good too. I am happy that they are liberal with their veggies. But the best dish was the potato wedges. :)

If you have a nut allergy, do not go here.
I have a severe tree nut allergy and ordered the souk salad. If you look at all the other items on their menu, you'll see they mark items if they're gluten free, spicy, etc. I am aware that vegan restaurants will use nut substitutes, but in every other restaurant I have been to -- they will always, always note if there are nuts in a menu item. After all, it is one of the most common allergies in the world. The souk salad did not have any indication of nuts; one particular ingredient was called 'herb cheese.' So, I thought things were all good, until I had a few bites and went into anaphylactic shock. As I was in the bathroom, my friends spoke with the cashier. They found out the 'herb cheese' was entirely made of cashews (tree nut), and the cashier was quite slack about it. My friends were the ones who asked her, "Aren't you going to give her (me) a new salad?" And that's when the cashier got on that. I was in their bathroom for several hours before going to the hospital (yes I should've gone sooner, but I have never experienced an allergic reaction this severe, so I didn't know.) I also passed out on the sidewalk outside their restaurant, and when I came to, I went inside to inform the cashier that I passed out and puked outside due to a reaction to their food, they didn't do anything about it. There was one kind worker who, at the tail end of my experience, said "Hey, the previous workers didn't treat you very well. Let's give you your money back."
As for my ER experience, thanks to my insurance, I *only* had to pay a $415 for my co-pay, epipen, and medication.
I have never written a Google review in my life, but here we are. I have no deep resentment toward Hip Vegan or the workers there. But, their menu was wrong, I could have died, and they were arguably complacent about that...and I had to pay quite a bit of money for it all at the end of the day. It was a lovely restaurant and great environment, but yeah. Don't go here if you have a nut allergy.

GO, GO, GO... IT IS SO Good!. This is among the top 3 food experiences of my life. I felt closer to God in appreciation of their food. If you are not into alternative spicy food, just try it and go here to be happy you experienced something different and amazing. This guy has no idea how good the food is, It is EXCEPTIONAL!!! This kitschy, semi-tacky, but you're still curious experience is the 2nd best meal I have ever eaten in my life; It only compares to a 12-course meal dining with members of the Jordanian Royal family in a private dining room in the most exclusive restaurant in Jordan and the first time I had Blue Fin Toro moves to #3 . I am that serious!!!
I am an eco, local supporting foodie who cooks better than most restaurants... I'm that good and I live in Los Angeles. Get to this place as fast you can for a divine culinary unique experience before he moves and has a 6-month waiting list. The Pakoras with mango dip will send you to heaven (and I do not like mango fruit... how did he do it?).
The excellent quality sushi with seaweed salad and cucumbers after the pakoras was a delightful sensation. Then, we went for the gluten-free momas with an amazing chili dip and the chef said " he hadn't tried them yet so he hoped they would be good." They were fantastic and then we used that delectable chili sauce from that dish on top of our final round tapas style ordering of crispy tuna rice (we wanted to compare it to our local place at home). They knocked everything our of the park by miles. I want to live here just to enjoy their food several times a week. We ate the night before my birthday and had reservations for my birthday.someplace else. If I repeated this night for my birthday dinner, I would be ecstatic.

The cauliflower tacos are delicious! They’re vegan and gluten-free. We also loved the vegan caesar salad, the kids’ rice bowl, and the poke bowl. In addition to cocktails, beer, and wine, there are a few nonalcoholic selections (I liked the cherry lime fizz). Next time I’m in town I’ll be back to eat more cauliflower tacos!

Lots of delicious Gluten free and vegan options. I had the GF avo toast which was absolutely delicious! The toast was crunchy, generously covered in Avocado, pickled vegetables and crisp sprouts plus an umami sprinkle. Delightful!! Their latte was smooth and rich. They have so many great sounding dishes I can hardly wait to return!

With gluten allergies, the menu is very very limited.
Salads look like a pile of reused cooked vegetables from days ago.
Slices of baked prime beef for dinner are so so bland.
Seasonal vegetables in the summer are potatoes, carrots and beans.
$75 per person plus wine for salad, appetizer and entree is absurd at this low food quality. Feels like cruise ship food.

I would recommend that the staff become more educated on what meats and ingredients are actually gluten free or not, it's important. The girl who took my order did not know which then made me order safer which ended up meaning ordering less which means they also lost out on more money. So I make this recommendation to educate your employees not only for the well-being of your customers, but for your business as well. The gluten free tortilla there is super tasty. I ordered the Power burrito and wasn't asked if I wanted pinto or black beans or Mexican rice or brown rice- so if you have a preference, be sure to speak towards it because you may not get prompted and forget to say something like I did.

Unbelievably delicious! Momma Pegs and Dad for their anniversary ate here and raved how amazing it was! At first Dad was sad there wasn't a gluten free pasta, but marveled at how wonderful the lamb ragu over spaghetti squash was! A must eat dish and highly recommend Osteria Monte Grappa for any meal! Totally the real deal farm to table!

Ordering gluten free pasta is a treat for me! I get meat sauce with extra sauce, Italian sausage and a pile of parmesan. There is so much food, I have left overs for the next day so the meal is a real deal. Indoors or out, the setting can’t be beat. The staff feels like family in the comfortable space of the restaurant on the highway.

Love this place. The best vibe and the best people. For years, I've wished they had a cider option. When I ask, I feel like I am saying a forbidden word. I know it's not what they do, but neither is hard seltzer, wine, and hard kombucha, which just don't do what cider can for a gluten free person. I love you please get just one cider.
