after enduring a 'fast food' run for family we dropped at lambert for a flight my wife began our customary search for a 'celiac friendly kitchen' a quick phone entry and we see "Vietnamese Eatery" and we both get giddy. . . it's been five years since we had viet cuisine and living in the stick were unaware of this place. . ."let's go!" we arrive to a clean, crisp, warm and welcoming place (the dorsett loc) full of people having a great time enjoying their meals. our counter experience was exceptional the staff was very attentive to my wifes' allergies and made certain to note to us the precautions taken and the food . . . i've had the luck of having 'traditional' viet and hmong foods prepared by 'natives' of those cultures and had not expected the level of craft and care in the foods i received, it was glorious . . . real flavors, fresh foods and a staff that was engaged and beyond what one would expect from a 'fast food' styled set up. . . we both had pho but i got a sammich. . .and i must say, to bite into a fresh baked baguette was enough to bring a fat boy to tears . . please, if you find yourself in the neighborhood and want some great food served by folks that are exceptional stop in and give it a go, you will not be disappointed. . . . well worth every penny (and not insanely priced either)!
on another note, i personally found explaining to my wife what the name meant the most entertaining part of the day! please take your time to familiarize yourself with this places origin story, makes it even more of a gem!
Serras has my all-time favorite pizza in the St. Louis area, and let me tell you there are a lot of pizza places here. It is very unique, and you can't find another pizza with a flavor quite like it. Besides their pizza, their appetizers are very good, and their house salad always hits the spot. For people with gluten intolerance, they actually have a really good gluten-free pizza that is cooked separately in its own dish. Their service can be pretty slow during their rush hours, but I always give them patience as they have a pretty small building and a small workforce. No matter how long it may take for our order, it is always worth the wait, and their pizza is always spectacular.
