I ordered gluten free pasta with meat and tomato sauce and there was very little meat. I ordered chicken parmigiana with spaghetti separate and there was little to no cheese on the chicken and there was no sauce on the spaghetti. When I called to complain, the young man did not care.
A very disappointing experience.

Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in East Hanover is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, authentic atmosphere. The food was incredible—everything tasted homemade and full of flavor. The salmon with horseradish was cooked to perfection, and the Kristina Salad was a hidden treasure on the menu!
Service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and made us feel like family. The portions were generous, and the ingredients were clearly fresh. We also loved that they offer gluten-free options!
If you’re looking for authentic Italian food with great service, this is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!
They accommodated a last minute group of 40, who then showed up an hour earlier than expected (entirely our own fault). They totally rolled with it and made it work! Buffet food was really good, people commented about loving the chicken and Caesar salad . We had 4 Celiacs with us, and the bartender was very knowledgeable and able to help us navigate the menu for gluten free items to order. Hot honey gluten free pizza was my favorite, good for thin crust lovers!
Thank you, Penang, for making me gluten free fried rice! I have searched the area and you are the only ones I found able and willing to make it possible. I wasn’t sure how it would taste, knowing you were using a substitute sauce for flavor, but it was a pretty close contender to the real thing! My family has avoided having Chinese for more than a year because they feel bad that I can’t have it. Now we can all have it together whenever we want. Big thanks for providing an alternative for folks like me! It really means a lot.
Gluten Free friendly! No gluten free bun but the lettuce wrap was very good (just a little bit messy) They are happy to change their gloves, the shake equipment is cleaned between uses, and the buns are cooked on a dedicated burner so there is not cross contamination.
We have gluten free and tree nut allergy concerns when we go out to eat. East Hanover Diner knows how to work with them all. Almost always have a good meal and a great experience.
UPDATE: another lunch at the East Hanover diner. Another successful dining experience. Had a new waiter that was extremely attentive and quick. Highly recommend.

They always have Gluten Free bread available.
Did catering with delivery for a baby shower, great presentation! My guests loved the sandwiches.

I am so happy I found this place!! Food and service is 10/10. Staff makes you feel like you’re apart of their family! Their fresh mozzarella is just the best. As an Italian with a gluten sensitivity, I am so thankful for their gluten free Italian bread so I can have their amazing sandwiches! The Amore Mio with the Italian meats and hot honey is chefs kiss. Have enjoyed everything I have gotten so far though.
