This should have been a five star review and it could’ve easily been a five star review BUT… HOWEVER when you have people in a position of management even for a short moment like an hour or two who are not educated on the difference between gluten-free and coeliac and lack real managerial skills people skills MIXED WITH AN INFLATED EGO, IT could literally COULD Cause a lawsuit. I’ll spare the details on what happened. HOWEVER, for management and education purposes, I will name some people. THE supposed substitute manager named Kim needs to be trained on the difference between coeliac and gluten-free. AND how to handle AND ANSWER special dietary needs and requests, especially when someone wants to know what’s in the syrup if it’s not 100% maple??? I hope this review serves for the people that are educated and do look forward to eating healthier options AND WANT TO KNOW WHATS IN THEIR FOOD! THAT INCLUDES being treated with respect and dignity when you make those choices to eat healthier AND HAVE QUESTIONS. I hope the owner Pete does a better job with its COOKING staff who clearly don’t understand the difference between gluten-free and coeliac (or were not made aware of our REQUEST at best) so much so that they would deny a four-year-old a kids gluten-free waffle simply because they don’t understand the difference. I am a big believer that education eradicates ignorance and nasty attitudes. I am also a firm believer that you need to stand your ground around these types of individuals…. Your manager Rachael was wonderful to deal with. SHE IS THE REAL manager at that location WHICH NOW MAKES SENSE. Also, the employee who answered the phone at the other location who put me in touch with the owner named Doris is a very valuable employee. They made the difference between me making a public review and a phone call to an attorney. I hope you guys learn the difference and educate your staff on being respectful, and friendly to people with different dietary needs. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A FILL IN MANAGER…
Also for those of you wondering why didn’t I just get up and go somewhere else? My 4 year old and I were Headed back to Illinois Chicago area and this was the one place that I could find closest to the highway and could confirm over the phone of gluten free pancakes etc. So it’s not like I could just easily get up and go somewhere else otherwise I would have! Just so that people can understand the context. Thanks again.
