GF waffle was meh. I have celiac so I am judging in comparison to GF foods purely. The cheese had a crust on it like it was American cheese that had been overcooked and the peppers were cooked somehow such that the skin was still super tough but the meat was mush. The service was also quite slow. The savory choice didn't work out. I do not appear to have been glutened however, so a star is earned back for that.

Nearly everything on the menu — including the chips — is gluten-free! Their new printed menu doesn’t show GF menu items though, strangely. The waiters were confused that nothing was labeled and had to go back to consult with the old menu. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

If I could give the service zero stars, I would. I ordered through DoorDash and did not receive part of my order, which was for a coworker - a gluten free pizza (the only thing she can eat). We contacted DoorDash and they asked us to call Mellow Mushroom. I spoke to a manager who went back and forth with me regarding getting MY money back. He was rude and impatient, when at that point all I wanted was my money back for something I did not get. Maybe the Dasher kept the other pizza, but it would have made the experience better to talk to a nicer manager. I will not be returning to this location.

Delicious smoothie bowls with awesome protein options. Definitely going here again. Also so many gluten free options (the entire store might be naturally gluten free). Very creative menu and create-your-own options too. The cold brew bowl was great and I got the cocoa added in plus chocolate maca protein powder 2x (that's 25 grams of plant-based protein)! I added in cacao nibs too. Lovely breakfast and atmosphere!

We had an absolutely fantastic meal here on Valentine's Day. Even on a busy night, we were seated promptly for our reservation, but not rushed through our meal. The drinks menu is delightful, and the zero-proof options are thoughtful and complex. We had delicious appetizers (GF Corn Muffins, yum!) but could have skipped the chicken wings. Entrees were delicious and both of us commented on how nice it was that the dishes came with several accompany vegetables - it made it feel like a complete meal without having to order a ton of sides. Finally, the desserts were delicious - the chocolate mud pie is definitely shareable, and we also enjoyed the banana pudding. One of us ordered gluten free items and they were all delicious, definitely recommend for dietary restrictions!

Stop reading this review now and get to Kanak Indian Kitchen. Everything about this restaurant is spectacular— food, atmosphere, service, drinks. They have an awesome gluten free naan and clear specifications for GF. The rice, the mango chutney, the sauces… I mean, wow. I’m actually sitting in the restaurant now for lunch writing this review because it couldn’t wait. I got an Anjali’s Elixir which was an out-of-this-world, write-home flavor experience. Go, go now!!! I can’t wait to be hungry again so I may come back.

We enjoyed a great meal on the patio. Food is ready super fast and is so fresh and good. Easily customize for food allergies including dairy and gluten free. The brisket is amazing… we’ll be back!

I really loved the fact that the menu had plenty of vegan and gluten free options. I would recommend the black pepper tofu and broccoli. Cozy, lively atmosphere and our waitress was such a sweetheart. Would definitely eat here again.

This was such a quaint spot to stop into while browsing the Downtown Mall area of Charlottesville! It’s a little hidden and we stumbled upon it by accident, but I believe that adds to the charm of the place. It’s on the top floor so you will need to walk up steps and I didn’t see an elevator for those with mobility concerns. At the top you’re greeted by a Bedouin themed area with both table and chair seating and traditional Bedouin style seating (low tables and cushions for seats). There is also a private seating area in the back with similar Bedouin style seating and a few outdoor table/chair seats. Although it has varying tea options, there were a decent amount of food options as well. The restaurant is vegetarian with a decent number of vegan options as well. They do also have the option to add salmon to some of their dishes if you prefer meat protein. Vegetarian/Vegan/Gluten Free options are labeled on the menu so no need for guessing. We ordered Blossoming Tea, the Smoked Salmon Sandwich with a side of Dahl, the Coconut Cardamon Cake, and the Vegan Spice Cake. First time trying dahl so for those who also haven’t tried it before, it’s made of lentils so tastes like a grainer porridge. We enjoyed the spice cake but found the Cardamon Teacake a tad dry. The Smoked Salmon Sandwich was wonderful. As a tea enthusiast this was a great visit, but this is also a must visit if you just want a cool place to take a break or if you want a cozy spot to eat. We had a wonderful experience at Smyrna. All of the staff were so welcoming and attentive, and the food was next level. So many unique dishes to choose from. They were very accommodating of my gluten allergy as well. I’m sad that I don’t live here so I can’t come back all the time!

If I could give 6 stars for service, I absolutely would. Not only is this the best Thai restaurant in town (with so many *clearly* marked vegan and gluten-free options), they have an exceptional staff who really go above and beyond. One time recently when I placed a to-go order, I had an emergency come up and completely forgot about my order. They texted me to let me know they were closing, then when I didn't respond, they texted me again to let me know they had wrapped my food up (to keep it dry, it was raining) and put it in a safe place on their patio for me to pick up when I could. When I finally saw their texts, I responded to apologize and explain, and then they called me to make sure I was okay and asked if one of them could drop the food off to me on their way home (insert "face holding back tears" emoji here). Even if the food was terrible (which it absolutely is not; the Panang Curry, Fresh Rolls, and Thai Fried Rice are especially delicious), I would still eat here because they people that work here are so darn sweet. Very nice atmosphere for a comfortable dinner with my two children and husband. Food was fresh, good quality, and well seasoned. The staff was very friendly, and it’s a really nice refuge from the downtown Charlottesville. Hummus was re absolutely delicious, and so is the falafel. Gluten Free
