I'm new to the area and recently had family over. I am celiac, my son's partner is dairy free, and we had a bunch of hungry people trying to decide what and where we could get take-out. This restaurant was able to handle the hungry crew and our dietary needs. The food was also delicious. We had it delivered and it arrived quickly and nice and hot. The driver was really pleasant. This was overall a great experience and we will be "regulars".
Chill atmosphere with cool local art, great vibes, and generous portions make it a perfect spot to hang out or study.

I felt comfortable coming to BJs because they advertise items that are specifically gluten sensitive on their menu. I ordered a salad off of the “gluten sensitive” menu. It came with croutons on it (gluten). I let our waiter know I had celiac disease, which is a severe allergy to gluten, and asked if they could remake it without croutons. 5 minutes later they proceeded to bring out what was clearly the same salad because there were croutons still in it and breadcrumbs all over where they had picked off the croutons. Not cool. I hate being a jerk but allergies are a serious thing. If you can’t accommodate them, please don’t advertise that you do. People can get very sick from this.
My daughter has Celiac Disease and two employees at the Bubbakoos, Route 37, Toms River location assured me that the wraps they gave me were corn. As soon as I walked up to the counter to order, I told the employee that she has Celiac Disease, asked the employee to change her gloves, and explained that due to my daughter’s condition, she can only have corn wraps. The female employee said, "Yes, we have corn wraps." When they handed them to me in foil, I asked again, "These are corn, not flour, right?" A male employee then said, "Yes." As my daughter unwrapped the wraps, I saw that they looked like flour. I tasted them and they were clearly flour. I asked the male employee again, "These are corn?" as I pointed at them. He said, "yes," and the female employee overheard and agreed with him. I then explained that I tasted them and they are flour. She then shrugged and said, "Yes, they are flour." No apology. I was shocked. If my daughter ingested gluten at their store, it would have resulted in 4 hours of projectile vomiting and horrific stomach pain. It happens everytime she ingests gluten. These employees need to be properly trained in the seriousness of food allergies and the consequences of their carelessness.
