I'm not a big chain restaurant fan, however, True Food kitchen is an exception. It really is whole food. I appreciate that there are several vegan and gluten-free options. The butternut squash soup and the hot tulsi ginger and tea are somethings I always look forward to.
I have reviewed this exact location before and gave it five stars but I need to update it. It’s only worth three. Food wasn’t nearly half as good as it was last time. The sausage was dried out. The pancakes were average. I got the peach ones that were on special this month. My wife had gluten pre-pancakes, which were OK for gluten-free. Let’s be real here. But the waiter was rude. He was normally rude to us. He was rude to other people and they may be shortstaffed, but there’s no excuse to treat people like that. They need to be knocked down a notch accordingly.
Great views of the water, the fried shrimp and cod were great and the halibut and salmon were perfect. Knowledgeable staff for food allergies. A family member has Celiac and our server talked through cross contamination and ingredient concerns. The gluten free fried batter is one of the best we have had.
Above and beyond service: my toddler dropped a toy and a staff member picked it up before I could see where it went.
O what an incredible meal we had at Cooper's Hawk! I'd seen a few people mention it in a local fb group and decided to take hubby for his birthday. He often eats gf to keep me safe and we had so many options!
They mentioned they just overhauled their gluten-free procedures not long ago and I felt very confident in all of our meal. Everything is made from scratch.
Started with a warm gf roll and butter
Appetizer: Bacon Wrapped Shrimp
Hubby's Plate: Blue Cheese Burger w/ Fries
My Plate: Cilantro Ranch Chicken Sandwich w/ Fries
Dessert: Truffles (as a birthday gift from Cooper's Hawk)
The bacon wrapped shrimp was probably my favorite part of the meal as the taste was one that just lingered. I mean fabulous. Just an incredible meal with great service and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Also loved our server Christine.
BB's is consistently exceptional. I have never had anything short of an amazing experience at this restaurant. The food is always outstanding, with each dish hitting the mark. The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere creates the perfect setting for a delightful brunch, lunch, or dinner experience.
Let's talk about their desserts – they are absolute dream-inducers. On two separate Sundays, I invited friends to join me for lunch after Sunday service, introducing them to BB's for the first time. Without fail, each person left impressed and became a lifelong customer. Even I wonder if I'll be included in their return visits, as BB's continues to live up to its reputation.
As someone who requires gluten-free options, I am delighted that BB's offers an array of choices for me. On this visit, I relished the warm goat salad without the croutons, a truly delicious dish. In the past, I have also enjoyed their dangerously good gluten-free pizza. But the highlight was the GF caramel brownie, served with a generous scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. I attempted to practice self-control and only eat half, but the treat was too irresistible to resist. Before I knew it, I had devoured the entire bowl. So, a piece of advice: if you plan to indulge in their desserts, do so with caution. One bite or half of a serving will surely not be enough once you start.
In addition to their delectable menu, BB's boasts a full bar and a skilled bartender who concocts drinks that are simply exceptional. The overall experience at BB's is perfect for a girls' night out, a romantic date night, or even a small party celebration. Just be mindful of indulging too much, as stopping yourself from eating the entire dessert might prove to be a challenge.
I highly recommend BB's as a dining destination. The consistently great food, excellent service, and overall ambiance make it an ideal choice for any occasion. But I must warn you, proceed with caution – the temptations at BB's can be quite irresistible!
🍕 The Loop in San Marco is like stepping into a culinary time loop of awesome vibes and gluten-free pizza perfection. The atmosphere? Cooler than a polar bear's toenails (in a good way). And let's talk about that GF pizza—it's not just good, it's "I'd fight a velociraptor for the last slice" good. The employees? They're nicer than a grandma on Christmas morning. Seriously, they make you feel like you've just found the pizza oasis in a desert of ordinary eateries. Next time you're in Jax, skip the norm and loop into The Loop—you won't regret it!
Our waitress Kate was absolutely incredible! She was very knowledgeable about the gluten-free options and the kitchen procedures to make sure the food was celiac safe. She was also very kind and the service was amazing!
We stopped for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the great food and service. Our server, Matt, recommended the Bison Burger, Avalon, and it was delicious. It’s nice to have gluten free dining options, too.
I fell in love with both the neighborhood and the restaurant. Their food is so good, and I can order almost anything I like due to the gluten free friendly substitutions. Instead of breaded chickun they grilled my soy curls unbreaded, substituted their house patty that has gluten for a Beyond burger, and served me both on GF buns. I was ecstatic!!! A restaurant where I can enjoy Plant-Based Comfort Food, then enjoy the fantastic nearby shops (I’ll share in upcoming posts) is everything my heart desires. 🥰
FYI: I caution anyone with Celiac’s disease that cross contamination is possible, and the fryer/grill are shared.
Gluten Free Fried Pickles: This was the #1 reason I wanted to eat here. Yes, their menu is amazing, but I wasn’t sure I could enjoy much even with a gluten free bun as an option. However, fried pickles have long been a favorite that I haven’t enjoyed in almost a decade, and this is the first restaurant I’ve seen that has them. They were so good, I would order them, even if they didn’t have anything else I could eat. But, thankfully, they do!
I had these as a side for the Buffalo Ranch Chickun, specifically prepared to be gluten friendly, per my request. It was absolutely delicious, and I cannot wait to eat it again! I'm also looking forward to another Black Cherry Tarragon Stubborn Soda because it was delicious.
Murray Hillbilly has a laid-back atmosphere with books to read and games to play while you wait for your food. There’s even a small assortment of items to buy including t-shirts, hand-crafted hats, and a variety of eco-friendly items. I had to try on the crochet hats. They were absolutely adorable, and for those who don’t know I used to not be able to wear hats because I had too much hair. 😆 I loved that each one was different not just in color but in style, and it was neat to see how they each looked on me. Perhaps next time I’ll leave with one.

The food and service is absolutely amazing here!!! Today our server John, was a delight and made sure we had everything we could possibly need (and more) at all times. I got the lamb and it was absolutely amazing 😍 The Tuna Tar Tar starter is so fresh and delicious! (as well as everything on the menu) My hubby and MIL got the cedar planked salmon and loved it! They are also great at accommodating with allergy’s— I knew I didn’t need to worry with my gluten intolerance. This is our second time and we definitely will be back again!!
They have the best eggs Benedict around! Everything I've tried is amazing. I was shocked that I think I liked their gluten free pancakes better than their regular ones!
We stopped by another Broken Egg Café on a whim one morning. My gluten-free pancakes were very light and fluffy; I would definitely order those again. The sausage and eggs were also very tasty. However, the city grits were quite loose and more watery than I expected, so I probably wouldn’t choose those again. We also tried the spiked coffee, which was a bit strong; I think a little less alcohol would have improved it, as it was barely drinkable. We mentioned this to the waitress, and she noted that she tends to pour heavily, so if you enjoy a stronger drink, the spiked coffee might be for you. All in all, it was a good breakfast for a quick bite.
My husband and I celebrated our 18th anniversary here. We had the shrimp, crab, avocado, and mango, stack which was fresh and a pretty large appetizer for 2. I have a gluten allergy and the were able to accommodate me by by using a different, but GF, cracker; although it may have been a chip...
We chose the 10oz prime rib to share, which they brought out a second plate for us to divide our portions. We had side salads, my husband had the mashed potatoes, and we ordered the sizzling mushrooms to top it all off.
We went against the salad bar due to the expense of it, but walked by to check it out as we walked out. After seeing it, we were glad we went the wa6 we did. It did not look worth the expense, nor would we have kept going back for more.
Overall, it was a nice and satisfying meal. A lovely place to celebrate our anniversary.
Very clean restaurant, great wait staff that were knowledgeable about gluten free requirement. Food was very good, reasonably priced. Will be returning!
We went to this location today specifically because my son with a gluten allergy loves to be able to get a hamburger and fries. Upon arriving we were told they were too busy to make gluten free French fries even though we were willing to wait no matter how long it took. It really wasn't that busy. My son was so disappointed I never want to come back here again. The Mandarin location would have never done this to us
The staff is extremely well trained in gluten and cross-contamination. They go the extra mile to clear a space while preparing your food. They will even breakdown the ingredients. They have 2 different gluten free breads. The best part is the gluten free brownies at the front counter. The chicken salad and potato salad are hugs.

So happy to see this location back open! Excellent local beer selection, and their menu had some great gluten-free options for my fiance to choose from when we came in.

High end "on the harbor" restaurant. We ate here on vacation. Menu and seafood exceptional, catch of the day is awesome, and specialty drinks amazing.
Loved that half the menu indicated gluten-free...
warning, 2 weeks wait for reservation
A MUST EAT IN JACKSONVILLE
I had a very well educated server who was able to make tons of suggestions. They do have gluten free bagels that aren’t listed on the menu. Do not order the hollandaise sauce. They were very accommodating regarding requests and questions
My sister and came here Dec 12 2024 as she recommended this place. We got hungry and waited on my sister's car to be fixed down the road. Beautiful decor as we walked in and clean. Right away we grab the menu, took a seat, chose our food then walked to register and ordered. Chose blue cheese chips(reccomend) and rosemary chips(tasted like reg potatoe chips). You get alot. Chose soup of the day bowl which was my favorite Italian wedding soup😋lovely suprise. Sis chose cup of onion cheesy soup. Looked delicious. We thought we ordered 2 side salads but they were big and fresh. Could of used more salad dressing next time. In all not bad 2 soups, 2 salads, 2 chips and 2 drinks for $45. Noticed business people stop by here and families as well. They do have kids menu and baby changing station here. There's gluten free and vegan options as well on menu.
Would love to come back and try their pizzas and sandwhiches.
They have everything I loved about the Riverside location and more! I stick with a gluten free diet and I've always been able to find a variety of options. Sometimes that means just protein + leafy greens and ditching the rolls. My 4 year old LOVED getting to assemble their own sandwich from the board. While we waited for the food we wandered around the market & florist which was filled with amazing goodies. We ended up getting a funky fall centerpiece of dried stems, it will last for seasons to come if I store it carefully. Ciera was at the register and was a great help while ordering and made the whole experience very pleasant & fun.
NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. I went there because i was told the owner has celiacs, as do I. After discussing that we were both celiac, the owner served me chips and told me they were safe, then later told me they were fried in the fryer with other gluten containing foods. I am now sick.
