Since it reopened it May 2023, I’ve been to Townhouse at least five times. All of food that I’ve tried has been fantastic. I particularly recommend the Mushroom Flatbread and Lobster Bucatini. The dishes are light and simple. I can dine here whether I want a snack or a full meal. The ingredients are familiar and accessible, I never have to look up ingredients to find out what they are and what they taste like.
However, the dishes tend to be creative, like the pairing of lobster with bucatini and a blush tomato sauce. Asking about the gluten-free Coconut Cake, I was informed that they use a blend of four (non-nut) types of flour. The texture of the cake was like no other cake that I've had, in a very good way. The creativity is particularly evident on the cocktail menu, where all of the featured cocktails seem to be Townhouse creations. I’ve tried several, as well as ordered a complex cocktail not on the menu. All were excellent.
During my experiences the service has always been cordial, yet efficient. The manager, Michael, has stopped by my table each time, to greet me and my dining party. The last time I went, Michael and our server, Kenny, both recognized my party from the previous week and made us feel quite welcome. They were also quick to answer any questions about the menu. I appreciate how Townhouse uses their small footprint and multiple floors to create several smaller spaces. The many small paintings and varied types of furniture further this and lends a less formal air to its dining rooms.
Townhouse it an excellent addition to the dining scene in downtown New Rochelle. It is tasty and affordable option, an in an area where it has few peers within walking distance.
