Our server Zahira was delightful and provided excellent service with a smile. This restaurant was a great find for dinner during our road trip. The gluten-free Chocolate Thunder From Down Under was incredibly delicious and satisfying, a perfect way to end our meal.
Easily the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to EVER!!
The food is amazing every time and extremely authentic. Their menu is extensive with many options. I have a gluten allergy and they’ve always been accommodating of that.
Highlights on their menu in opinion (as a chef): Panang curry, Steamed Mussels, Spring Rolls, Coconut soup, and their coconut ice cream. My boyfriend isn’t gf and he loves their golden chicken.
Prices are reasonable and you get a healthy portion of food, especially with their lunch special!
I wish I didn’t live so far so I could come here more often!
If you are gluten free this place is not safe. I ordered the margarita chicken without the tortilla strips (they are corn, but fried in the same frier as flour). I said it had to be GF. It came out covered with tortilla strips. I sent it back. Another one came out that appeared to not have them. After I ate most of it, I found there were some tortilla strips underneath all of the food. I had finished eating before two members of my party got their food (we had ordered appetizers, so they ate those in the meanwhile). They gave me my poison for free, but it’s hardly a consolation for now being quite ill. We had a larger group. If you have no food allergies and a small group it might be fine.
Good food clearly marked gluten-free options. But our service was lacking 😕 for a half empty room we waited a long time. We had to ask another server for help since ours seemed distracted/ MIA. they kept forgetting things and our food came out at different times.
Super Disappointing. SOL if you have any dietary restrictions such as gluten or lactose. Prime Rib had no flavor and was room temperature.
My department held our Christmas dinner here. The menu was reduced to cater to a large group. There was not a single appetizer I could eat. apparently they don’t know how to make an appetizer unless flour is the chief ingredient. My salad was just lettuce. At least at Texas Roadhouse there’s egg in the salad if you don’t get the croutons.
I miss classy restaurants of Newport such as Seasons 52 that had gluten free options. At Seasons they even had gluten free breadsticks to dip in the artichoke dip. I can almost imagine a conversation between the owner and chef of Carvers. One asks, “but what if someone has dietary restrictions? What alternatives will we offer?” And the response is “screw those people. They can eat plain lettuce.”
Mary was a fantastic server. I have celiac as well as dairy intolerance and Mary was knowledgeable about the menu items and helped me get a delicious breakfast that didn't cause any reactions and I'm very sensitive. She was efficient and professional and very pleasant and friendly.
