I learned that Lapointe's had a gluten-free fish and chips option, so decided to give it a try. It was so delicious, generous portions, and service was super quick. The server was pleasant and courteous, and took the time to explain the other GF options. It was definitely worth the trip from the east end to Bells Corners. Highly highly recommended.
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars.
An absolute gem of a place. We asked the owner for recommendations, as it was our first time. He took the time to go over the highlights of the menu and gave recommendations based on our preferences. Gluten free and vegetarian options are available, but we did not try them.
We got the pad see ew with pork, the cumin rice dish with beef, and the Tibetan beef dumplings. We also got the lemonade on the side, which was a great way to reset the pallet.
The flavours were not too bold, and worked together very nicely. It was extremely flavourful without having one specific flavour/spice dominating the dish.
The food was served in wooden bowls, which was very appealing, and comfortable to hold.
If this restaurant was located in our town, we would be regular customers. For now, we are definitely adding this as a must visit every time we come back to Ottawa.
About thirty of us ranging in age from two to 97 years recently met at Bambu to celebrate a friend’s 80th birthday. A twelve course tasting menu was designed for us some weeks in advance by the owner Jeremy, taking into consideration vegetarians, individuals with gluten sensitivity, meat and seafood lovers.
On the day of the party, we discovered that a friend was now vegan, another wanted no onions in her meals and a young guest was allergic to peanuts. Staff at Bambu handled this promptly and without any fuss or complaint. A special mention to our main server Jennifer.
The menu consisted of 3 appetizers, 3 sushi rolls and 6 mains including fried rice, Pad Thai, chicken and seafood curries. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. Dessert and coffee ended a very satisfying meal.
Thank you Jeremy and Jennifer for a superb evening at Bambu.
My first time at this restaurant
I have been driving by for so many years I decided to go in today and try some butter chicken, I also ordered matar paneer and some garlic Naan. I have been to at least 5 Indian restaurants in ottawa, every restaurant has a slightly different flavor on there food
Each one has a different take on there Naan bread, but all were very good, so was the butter chicken
The butter chicken at Indian express was excellent
I noticed that the chicken was very tender. all the other restaurants I have been to the chicken was dry. The Naan bread was very good, nice and fresh loved it, no complaints here. The matar paneer was also fresh and flavourful, the rice was also fresh. Indian express also makes fresh deserts on site
I tried a square with Mango and coconut WOW WHAT FLAVOR, They also had a gluten free chickpea flour ball with Cashews WOW the flavours just keep on coming
Had to get an assortment of desserts oh so good
After one bite you will know what I mean.
Well I have no complaints on the food at Indian Express, service was good, very happy will be back.
Went out for my friend’s birthday dinner, ordered three ramen bowls and some sweet potato fries. Loved the ambiance- with art from so many anime shows (Black clover, Pokémon, etc.) Dim lighting really accentuates the mood, it was really lovely!
Tried some fantastic sweet sake. Got some gluten free veggie gyoza (honestly tastes a lot like pork dumplings yum 🥟!) with tofu noodles, they were really careful about my poultry allergy as well. So great!
The wait was long, but WELL worth it!

We tried Shinka Sushi Bar for the first time this weekend. At first, we were a bit confused by the location (it’s in an industrial area). The entrance door opens directly into the kitchen, and then we’re guided through another door and corridor that finally leads to the dining area. The setup is surprising, but it gives a cool “speakeasy” vibe. I have to highlight the ambiance—it’s beautiful, intimate, and warm. With only 23 seats, it made the experience even more enjoyable. We were greeted by a lovely server/bartender, and as soon as I mentioned my gluten intolerance, she reassured me, explaining that she’s celiac herself. This gave me peace of mind, knowing all our dishes would be safe for me, and they also have gluten-free soy sauce.
Now, for the taste and quality of the food—wow, wow, and more wow. By far the best dishes we’ve ever had. Every bite had its own unique flavor; I only wish I could find the words to describe just how delicious everything was! I’m already excited to go back when I visit Ottawa again. This place is a true hidden gem.
Great atmosphere, fresh ingredients, great flavours, good portion size. Very helpful and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Different spin from Thai Express. We had the Drunken Noodle Box and Cambodian Jungle curry. Both were excellent and we’d get them again. Lots of great options including gluten free and vegan options.

The food is delicious and they are very accommodating and safe with food intolerances/allergies/dietary restrictions. I am gluten intolerant and vegan and they always ensure I am well taken care of. On occasion they have even made me rolls off menu, with beautiful presentation. It is a rarity to be so well accommodated with so many dietary restrictions.
Honestly this place is one of mine and my husband's favourites. It's super affordable, they have a cocktail I'm obsessed with, and we really like the food. 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and a cocktail came to $65... can't beat that! We will continue to be regulars here. I'm also celiac and they know exactly what that means. Would absolutely recommend as an affordable date night or meet up for friends.
Far and away the best Thai food I’ve ever had! Their pad Thai is unlike any other and the Gang dang curry is also amazing - but honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Just make sure you order well before you hope to eat because it gets super busy. Also very accommodating to gluten free requests
Fast, friendly, and delicious! This was a great find on a whim, and we were overwhelmed with choice (even with one being gluten-free and the other being spice/heat-free!) Will definitely go back.
This sort of care is what will keep me a longtime fan and customer. THANK YOU for taking my celiac seriously and seperating the items so that im not worried about cross contamination. Food is extra delicious when im not afraid it'll make me sick!
They were super accommodating for making things dairy free and gluten free where possible and making sure everything was labeled well on our take out containers. Food was great!
I've only been twice. The 1st time I had a wonderful pork donkatsu with brown rice which was awesome. My boyfriend enjoyed the chicken teriyaki. It looks like they have changed the menu though. So this week I tried the spicy tofu salad which is gluten free. It was lovely!
Thank you for the excellent meal. Thank you for accommodating my gluten free allergy. You guys made 4 people very happy tonight. Highly recommended. Must try.
Great sushi spot. They have kind servers who really make you feel welcome. In addition they have a big menu with many appealing options. The only down fall is they do not have very many gluten free rolls. Despite this the servers were careful with my food and even provided me with a gluten free soya sauce. I ended up getting their CAA roll (asparagus, avocado, cucumber) and Philly rolls (salmon, cucumber and cream cheese). Both tasted fresh and delicious. In addition, they gave us a complementary miso soup before our lunch which was great aswell. We left really happy with both the food and service, thank you Sapporo Sushi!
Not too saucy. Hypoallergenic. Offer gluten free soy sauce. Remade a shrimp meal for us when we noticed the shrimp was battered. Really lovely menu. Pad Thai, curries, tom yum soup etc. Protein selection for meals: Tofu, Chicken , beef. Small bathroom; atleast they have one. No parking lot. Park on street.
*celiac friendly*
There are many gluten free choices. The chef are kind and flexible. Each roll is made fresh to order. They take your allergies into account and make accommodations.
Ingredients are very fresh and delicious!
We had a very delicious lunch here - sag paneer, a chicken dosa and steamed rice. All were excellent! We selected medium spicy and it was perfect. Service was attentive and polite.
Honestly I love the rungi chungi atmosphere of bright yellows and reds. I felt as if I were back in India.
I appreciate that there was no loud music or television to distract us from conversation. And I like that the menu clearly indicates which dishes are gluten-free, dairy-free etc.
Prices are reasonable: $44 spent for 2 people.
We’ll be back for sure!
Great hot pot - had no issues with the service, and the ingredients were as fresh as you could really ask for. Just wish they had youtiao, but the gluten works pretty well too to soak up the broth.
The rolls I had here were so yummy! Great gluten-free accommodations as well! Our server was Nikki and she was working very hard and making sure we had a good experience :)
