I had a gluten free chicken kebab from iloveistanbul and it was SO GOOD. I find gluten free imitations of traditionally gluten containing foods pretty hit and miss especially if they involve any kind of bread. But the gluten free kebabs from this place are really excellent and very tasty. I haven’t had a decent kebab in YEARS, so I was very happy!
A lovely little Italian restaurant: Pizza and Gnocchi Bar. We shared a few plates of Gnocchi and a pizza in biancho (not tomato based). Between 3 of us. Absolutely scrumptuous food within an absolutely delightful atmosphere. Plenty of different sauces to accompany gnocchi. Simple, yet genuine, tasty yet not over the top. Little pillow puffs that were soft and light...only 10% flower and gluten free apparently. Coming from an Italian background, we do make home made gnoccli from scratch. Despite Gemma's rendition being different they were very appetising and lovely to eat. Probably one of my favourite dishes to eat at home and I never order them when dining out as it's rare to find them so good.
The porcini pizza was in bianco as I've mentioned. Subtle flavours with the essence of truffle oil which is my favourite. Absolutely very yummy. The base was was light thin yet fluffy around the crust. It can be made with a gluten free option if you prefer.
The chef also provided us with arancini as an entre. I absolutely loved them...hope they get back onto the menu in the future. The green chilli oil was also an excellent accompanyment to our meal especially with the garlic focaccia.
As far as service goes, it was exceptional during our dinner. Thankyou and I look forward to the next dine in experience.
Great vegan food with plenty of gluten free options. The carbonara was utterly fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed the massaman curry. Everything my friends ate also looked exceptional. Food came out very speedily and it was a very chilled out atmosphere. Highly reccomend.
Food was really good! I really enjoyed it. The service from Sol was excellent—super caring and attentive. They also have great gluten-free options, which is a big plus. Highly recommend!
Low key set-up but serving up the best tasting, juicy and well priced burgers I've had in a long time. Of special note is that Mofo Burgers caters really well for coeliacs. Their gluten free burger buns (at extra cost - as is the norm) are super soft and fresh. Heaps better than what Grill'd serves up! I shall return.
Nice coffee. Unnecessarily expensive, though. Only place in town I’ve seen charging a 20% holiday charge or $30+ for most breakfast options. Also over the top fees for non-dairy milks ($1.20) and gluten free bread ($5)…
Had the best experience here! Plenty of gluten free options. The lady who helped me out was fantastic- very knowledgeable and let me try all the flavours! The sample sizes were very generous, and she was very informative about the different flavours and coeliac safe toppings. Really enjoyed this experience - keep thinking about it! Highly recommend!
Had the most delicious gluten free carbonara sat night. Didnt wait long at all as we had a movie to go to. I got back from Rome a week ago and this pasta was better than what I had in Italy!! Thank you😀
Large group had the banquet. Our server was absolutely amazing.
Vegan food served me was so-so, no gluten free bread for the 2 GF ladies. Pizzas more like focaccias. Walnut pesto pasta too much pepper. Duxk ragout not a fave of the group. Over priced (very small) drinks at $22 each. Then hit with Fri night "surcharge" also charged a cancellation fee for one of our party who had her eye punctured that day and we showed the evidence of the medical emergency. Somehow the $60 we were quoted turned into $70 with the nasty surcharge, add a tiny drink and you were paying nearly $100.
Will not be going back.
Amazing food and service.
Great starters.
Being gluten free is usually pretty hard for me to eat out. However, nothing is an issue at Scopri. GF pasta cooked al dente, delicious sauce.
Good wine list.
Giulia looked after us, amazing service.
I'll be back!
Nothing short of exceptional! We had a surprise dinner at Taverna for my sister in law’s 60th birthday and it was amazing - everything from the food, the service and attention to detail was exceptional. One of our guests has every allergy under the sun from gluten free, lactose free and low food map and Taverna were more than accommodative. Beautiful traditional Greek food done superbly. Will definitely be back again. Well done for making it a night to remember. Many thanks, Maria
The food was delicious, though there were no vegetarian and gluten free main meals. This was disappointing but I was not hungry as the entrees could cater for my allergies and were delicious.
A highlight was the excellent waiting staff.
Our visit to Ms Frankie was a spontaneous Sunday night event and it was made even better by such attentive wait staff.
Nice spot for lunch. I had the chilli scramble on gluten free bread - it was really tasty, but I would’ve preferred to have more than one slice of bread. Coffee here is top-notch! Great atmosphere - lots of people here on a regular weekday.
This place is well known for their famous chicken parmas, the price is great for anyone who doesn't want to spend too much, and the wait is decent. There is a large range of gluten free selections, which is great for coeliacs/gluten intolerance. Since portions are also very large (plus!!!) take out boxes are an option for anyone who cannot finish their meals. Highly recommend this place if you're up to feast and fulfil your hunger.
In the picture below is an image of the gluten free Margherita pizza.
Paid $41 for a gluten-free pizza. Very expensive for what it was, flavour was average. Not enough sausage and garlic sauce was too salty and served in a plastic container.
Paul, Micky, Dominique and Daniel provide outstanding customer service and always accomodate your dietary needs. Have been coming here for years and the warm welcome we receive is genuine and heartfelt. We always take overseas visitors here - a true Lygon Street staple. Love the pizza but I’m now gluten free so switched to pasta which is equally delicious and authentic.
Amazing hospitality and service. Has a very beautiful environment and staff are lovely. Food is fresh and served efficiently. Great pizzas and pastas for vegan and gluten free options. Looking forward to my next visit.
Enjoyable dinner, we sat in the front room with the fireplace going, lovely atmosphere. Food was delicious and serving sizes were perfect. As a coeliac, I appreciated the range of gluten free items on the menu. All items are vegan. Looking forward to returning and trying other dishes!
Delicious food with 5 star service and a really nice dining experience. Daily menu $95pp. Catered perfectly for dietary requirements. We had gluten free and dairy free and the kitchen prepared separate dishes as required. All delicious. Huge variety of dishes and solid serving sizes.
Wait staff were great, friendly and experienced. Highly recommend!
We had a booking for 7 today at lunch. The staff were absolutely fabulous; very friendly, accomodating and warm. Service was impeccable.
Food was quick and delicious. We had a member of the group who has coeliacs and they thoroughly enjoyed the options.
We are reminded why we have come here for food many times before. Great experience, great people.
Dans deli is quite a cute place so lets talk about it.
PROS
-Coffee(hot)seems to be always pretty good nothing to brag about but a very consistent place.
-Bagels huge range of bagel types you can choose from they even have a gluten free option(i had the everything bagel)
-Coffee (iced)same as hot nothing crazy but very consistent
CONS
- the interior is a-bit dull in a sense not complete floor was bare concrete no deli feel besides the wall saying dans deli in red tiles
-customer service is average i had a guy serve me which was more or soo seemed pushy and expected me to know what exactly i wanted mostly choosing the type of bagel and no suggestions(im not a bagel expert)
Then a girl took over and it felt mor calming to order the rest of my order which was nice i personally dont hate or want it to be a bad thing but being warm and welcoming can go a long way dans deli remains consistent and pretty good with small improvements i see it shining as a cute deli
We dined late on a Saturday night (9PM), so the restaurant was quiet and intimate. I'm not well-versed in Indian cuisine so I appreciated the educational element of having a map on the menu to correspond to foods from different regions. The food was incredible because the chefs focus on delicate, natural flavours like smoked yogurt. Other highlights: many gluten-free options (including corn bread off the menu), sensory-friendly lighting, and traditional chai tea. The only thing that was confusing was the "$50 minimum spend per person" printed at the bottom of every menu.
Three issues I want to raise with you that being of the kid who was in charge on Sunday afternoon around 4:30 who I spoke to on the phone, my burger and drink coming in two separate bags and the gluten free bun coming repeatedly burnt with delivery lately and his response was “that’s just how we do it” with the tone of a child with an attitude problem. Far out, yuck.
Firstly, all of that is false.
I’ve had the burger at the same store last week and the bun was not served black and hard on the edges and dark brown for the rest of the bun. It was golden brown and perfectly delicious, I do enjoy Grilled burgers. When I told this to the boy on the phone his response was that they just put it through the toaster twice and that’s just what they do. 🙄
I’ve also had orders where the drink is in the same bag as everything else - does it seriously need to be explained why this is wasteful, delivering it in TWO bags 🤦🏻♀️. When I raised this issue he just snapped back that that’s just how they deliver drinks, even if it’s one, in two seperate bag. And that if I had such an issue with it to write it in the notes section, basically putting the onus on me - the friken nerve! False and his blatant inability to hear where I’m coming from, Jesus Christ… yuck.
The Interaction with the immature kid and his abhorrent attitude was just the cherry on the cake.
Hated this experience and being spoken down to like that. I wasn’t being rude or frustrated, I wanted the restaurant to know just as a heads up. Clearly he doesn’t care.
Update: I reached out to Grilled and emailed them a photo clearly showing the over-grilled buns. They responded, saying they would follow up on the issue. However, I placed another order (two weeks later, thinking by now things would be better) nothing has changed. It’s incredibly disappointing. I shouldn’t have to pay for food that’s clearly burnt.
It’s like they don’t listen or care, why as a customer am I wasting so much of my time to rectify this?
Very enjoyable dinner with my little one. Staff were confident with gluten free options and the risotto and gf garlic bread were fantastic! Will happily go back again!
I have been a regular customer for years now and have always appreciated the gluten free burritos when no one else makes them. When I got on to Uber eats recently my heart broke. As someone who loves a burrito to see the gluten free wrap unavailable was so disappointing. When I’m hungover and hungry I don’t want a bowl!!! I want a fat burrito :((((( please bring it back
We ordered 3 different types of bibimbap via Ubereats. They arrived quickly. Absolutely delicious, most authentic and tasty that we've eaten. Also, catered for gluten free by ringing me and telling me the only item that was not gf was the soy sauce so they put all sauces on the side in separate containers. Awesome all round. And they're close to us, we'll be ordering again, for sure!
Excellent service and very enjoyable meal, the staff were very passionate and we felt very welcome.
They also had excellent options for gluten free requirements
What a great experience! Great atmosphere! Delicious and great quality food!! Chris our waitress was very helpful and friendly! I am coeliac and Chris helped me choose all the GF options for me! The show was magic! The experience overall was suggestive!! Highly recommended!!
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the dining experience I recently had at your restaurant on 17/10/23 This experience was not only frustrating but also quite concerning, as it involved an issue of misrepresentation on your menu and an inadequate response from the
Waitstaff.
Upon placing my order, I ordered the copperwood chicken with mashed potatoes as my meal as it was my understanding that this would be a gluten-free option, as there was no indication to the contrary on your menu. To my shock and dismay, when my meal was served, I was presented with a dish containing soggy bread with a tiny amount of mashed potatoes smeared around the soggy bread.
This discrepancy was already distressing, but what truly compounded my disappointment was the response I received from the waitress when I pointed out the error. She claimed that "it's something new they are trying but haven’t updated the menu" and left me feeling as though I were at fault for the misunderstanding. Her response was not only unprofessional but also utterly unhelpful.
As a customer who places their trust in your establishment and depends on accurate menu descriptions due to dietary restrictions, this experience was not only unacceptable but also potentially harmful to my health, as consuming gluten can have serious consequences for individuals with gluten intolerance.
I am deeply disappointed in the lack of responsibility and accountability demonstrated by your staff. This not only tarnishes the reputation of your restaurant but also raises concerns about the accuracy of your menu and the safety of dining at your establishment for those with dietary restrictions.
I kindly request that you take immediate steps to rectify this issue. Firstly, I expect a formal apology for the distress and inconvenience I experienced during my visit. Secondly, I urge you to update your menu to reflect accurate descriptions of the dishes you serve. Finally, it is crucial that you provide better training to your staff regarding customer service and handling discrepancies with professionalism and care.
If a restaurant cannot accept criticism and is unwilling to treat customers with respect, it may lead to a challenging environment for both the establishment and its patrons.
Customer feedback is an invaluable source of insight, helping businesses understand what they do well and where they can make improvements. Ignoring or dismissing valid feedback can ultimately lead to a decline in customer satisfaction and retention.
Pick up your game and stop being nasty to your customers!
Saw that there was a table available for 7:30pm, so instead of booking online, my friend and I decided we’d walk across to the restraint. We’re greeted by a very rude restaurant Manager who said we don’t have available until 8:30pm, but we said that the website confirmed there was one at 7:30pm. So he advised us to book online then. He didn’t once pick up his reservations device to check and walked off. I ended up booking online and he asked us to leave and come back as we’re 10 minutes early. Didn’t offer us to have a drink first. Puzzled we walked away and went back for some reason. The Manager made us wait for a while and didn’t acknowledge that we’re waiting. Didn’t even ask for the name on the booking. Eventually after seeing him also bark at another couple to book directly on their website, they seated us down. Although the outdoor setting is lovely, and the croquettes were lovely, that’s where the positives end. The female waitress we had was also rude and made it very challenging to order drinks and food. It was like we’re inconveniencing her every time we flagged her down to order. The pasta I got was so undercooked that I had to send it back. The Manager then came back claiming they use gluten free pasta and that is why it’s chewy. This is a first - since when did Italian restaurants use gluten free pasta? Sadly, this restaurant needs a wake up call and should hire new management and waiters that actually want to look after their diners. Everything is so overpriced for what it is. Save your money and go somewhere that will treat you with respect and provide great food.
Trina and family have turned this into a wonderful place to enjoy breakast and lunch. The menu caters for a variety of tastes, with lots of gluten free options. Plenty of drink choices, excellent coffee. The service is fast, the staff are friendly, courteous and skilled. Enjoy also Trina's collection of indoor collection plants. Best cafe in Rathdowne Street.
I had a delicious açai bowl and matcha drink with condensed milk - they were so goooood!! Plenty of options to choose from on the menu. I really appreciate the gluten free muesli option for açai as well 💜
The staff were also really sweet 🩷
