The young lady at the front was sweet, had a smile on her face & the seating area outside was cute! As for the food, not so cute…
Everything we ordered is something we would normally order from any spot that serves breakfast.
For ~$37 we got 1 iced chai, 1 Arnold Palmer, 1 French toast muffin & 2 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on ciabatta rolls. One had extra bacon, one subbed for scrambled egg at no extra cost.
1. The chai latte looks & tastes like it’s almost entirely oat milk with cinnamon… disappointing.
2. The Arnold Palmer tastes like unsweetened lemon water?? Like *barely* brewed tea, lots of lemon and water…
3. The breakfast sandwich starts at $6 and ended up $9.75 & $12.75 (+$3 for extra bacon)
We opted for ciabatta’s bc the bagels on display look like grocery store bagels.
The “ciabatta” was very dry and I’m wondering if it was gluten free bread.
There was SO MUCH black pepper on the bacon?? The scrambled egg tasted like premixed carton/rehydrated eggs.
4. The muffin was not bad, but idk if it was made in-house
Sweet Melissa's is always an absolute delight. Staff is kind, patient and accommodating (Shout-out to Gianluca, Annie and Sydney!). As someone with Celiac's it's also really nice to have a bakery to go to that is so careful and considerate of a wide variety of dietary needs and restrictions. I've gotten several pastries and other items over the years since I discovered this gem in the heart of Middletown and I have never once had a cross-contamination reaction. My husband and I have occasionally stopped in to have dates here and I could easily spend the day writing here. There are games available for kids too, so it's really a family-friendly spot. Anyone who needs (or wants) a bakery absolutely can and should patronize Sweet Melissa's!
I discovered this place in the context of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and searching for restaurants that will cater to the new diet/lifestyle I was embarking on. The low carb lunch and sugar free/gluten free dessert options are awesome - I’ve made plenty of t2d friendly baked goods at home but they are on another level. I am so glad this place and these people exist, it’s hard to explain what it means to be able to walk into a bakery and order something without any guilt or anxiety but as cringe as it might sound it’s been a kind of powerful experience for me.
A hot coffee and delicious bagel sandwich was exactly what I needed. Gluten free options as well which was important for our crew! Next time I’m in Bethany will be popping by for sure
Love this market! I have Celiac Dx and both of my kids. We have to eat gluten-free. ShopRite has the best selection of gluten-free foods. It is my go-to supermarket.
A delightful spot in Clayton for cupcakes! I was thrilled to find a gluten-free option as well, and the vanilla gluten-free cupcake with vanilla buttercream was incredible. You’d never guess it was gluten-free—highly recommended for anyone with gluten intolerance. The other cupcakes we tried were equally delicious and beautifully decorated.
As for the bakery's atmosphere, it could use a bit of improvement in terms of appearance and cleanliness. However, if you’re looking for high-quality cupcakes, this is definitely the place to go.
I love Bagels and Boba. They have been a wonderful addition to Peoples Plaza. They have gluten free options which is greatly appreciated and delicious coffee!
This place is delightful and cozy, I love coming here. The staff are very nice and helpful, and the food is really good. I usually get their sandwiches and a dessert to go. Their sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced. My fiance has celiac disease, and we were delighted when we discovered they have a small gluten free menu. He was able to get the macrons and creme brulee without worry! I brought my coworkers in and they all loved it.
We are from out of town and got this name from a local rehoboth friend! I was definitely not disappointed!!! We got the gluten free lemon cake with blueberry frosting and the strawberry cheesecake cupcakes- they were outstanding! The cake was moist and delicious and the fruit was so fresh! The taste and look were amazing! I highly recommend Biamby Sweets!!
The only thing I would change about this place are the hours. It would be amazing if their lunch menu was a dinner option in milton and I know they would bring in loads of business. For some reason it’s always Sunday when I get the urge to go here for breakfast. That said - the food is fantastic and the price is even better. They have done such a great job with the interior. It’s a place I have gone to sit and work and have coffee, but also a place my family loves to go to. It has a cozy feel. The people there are always wonderful. They have just enough gluten free choices that my diet doesn’t create an issue going here. I hope this place is around forever.
Delicious cookies available at Arenas and vegan, glutenfree cupcakes were approved by non-vegans! Both chocolate and buttercream frosting are delightful!
Adorable coffee shop with character. Delicious bakery items they even have a few items gluten free which are very tasty & the breakfast sandwiches are delicious & made fresh. Coffee is delicious, friendly service, can also get grounded coffee to go so you can make your own at home. Definitely a place to stop by.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CARRYING GLUTEN FREE PASTRIES!!!! Also, the coffee was perfect (better than starbucks.) And the staff were friendly and energetic. Even packed the wait time was like two minutes- very impressed.
Love this store. Quality kitchen tools can be found here as well as gifts and home decorating items. Pricing on food makes meals affordable for everyone’s budget if they know how to cook.
Constant turnover of merchandise at reduced prices. Gluten free items available.
Good source on gluten free pastries. Other normal baked products can be quite pricey compared to most. The vegetables don't appear to be Amish farmed. The gluten free price point is fair compared to frozen item, it's a plus with DCFM they're freshly made.
Absolutely recommend Kaan’s, we loved it. Sweet and friendly owner was a joy to buy from. He makes most of the items they sell so it was all fresh and delicious. The coffee was good and strong enough to drink black. He even had gluten-free cupcakes for our celiac daughter at an extremely reasonable price. My husband and I agreed that if we lived in Rehoboth, we’d be at Kaan’s every week! A great little find only about a block from the beach.
The gluten free Smith Island cake we ordered was DELICIOUS!! We chose a vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream frosting and everyone raved about it. The owner/baker Madison was communicative and very easy to work with. I would definitely order from Driftwood Desserts again😁
Love this place even though they are under New Management, they carry on the tradition of the original owners perfectly. We have been coming here for over 50 years and love this place. 🙂 Btw, my mother-in-law loves the gluten-free cupcakes. 🙂
