The food was absolutely fantastic – but the service was even better! As someone with food allergies, I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The waitress asked about any allergies already during the reservation and later pointed out exactly what I could safely eat from the menu. It's especially recommendable for people with celiac disease. A truly wonderful experience!

Food was amazing! I wish I'd remembered to take some photos. The only let down was service was a little slow- as in getting drinks initially and then the tables weren't cleared at all...but the food came out quickly and I'd go back again simply for the food options! 4 of us are coeliac and there were so many dishes that were either gluten free or could be modified for us 😍

Came in for a quick lunch. My partner ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas Gluten free and I had the pork tacos, beef brisket lollipops and the chips. Atmosphere was nice and chill. Quiet for a Saturday lunch time but there was a lot going on outside. Service was quick and easy. The server helped my partner who had a bee sting which was much appreciated. Food came out fast and was temperature hot. The chips were the best thick cut pub chips I’ve had in a while. Good amount of salt and perfect amount of aioli. The fish was cooked well and wasn’t dry. The brisket lollipops had great seasoning and flavours were sweet and fragrant. The corn tortillas on the tacos did fall apart more than I’d like but everything else for the taco was delicious. The salsa and mole were delicious with the pork. Haven’t had a bad meal at The Kestrel to date. Thanks team

We were lucky to sneak in a late dinner here tonight and it was such a lovely way to end my trip to New Zealand. Our server, Harriet, was very knowledgeable about gluten free options on the menu and took great care of us despite our late arrival. We tried the salt and pepper squid, green goddess salad, steamed fish, the filet, and Eton mess. Everything was excellent and I would return happily!

The duty manager went above and beyond on giving us great customer service, to help celebrate my husbands birthday. He was great. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. There is a good menu giving plenty of options from small plates, pizzas and mains, including good gluten free options. Food was tasty, fresh and hot. My daughter loved the pizza. Nice space with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. We will be back !

Came here for the gluten free fish and chips and highly recommend. The manager explained how they are prepared and offered a Belgian gluten free beer to go with it. Both were excellent.

I ordered the gluten free chicken burger and couldn’t have the fries due to cross contamination so our waiter Will swapped it for a side salad. It was nicely dressed and I appreciated the substitute. Overall a good experience, Will was very attentive. Great service!

Well, 4.2 stars is definitely much too less for that service and food you get here. All in all I’ve had the lamb shank gluten-free and my wife had the beyond burger vegan. Both things were very well prepared. The house wine and lamb is from NZ production and the meat was falling off the bone mate. So delicious I will dream about that. My wife was happy with her burger as well. The Pinot Noir was a good taste. Prices are absolutely fair for the quality they deliver. Keep up the good work guys, we‘ll come back for a good meal when we‘re back in NZ. 👌💪👍

I went to Teed Street Larder with my family on Saturday 22 February 2025. I appreciate that we are difficult customers, as my sister has coeliac disease, and I have an egg allergy. Teed Street Larder had a good gluten free offering. However, the staff had difficulty assisting me with my egg allergy. I informed them of my egg allergy, and asked if I could have one of their dishes on the menu. The staff member replied by telling me to choose something else, and brought another staff member over to confirm this. Neither staff member gave me any alternative options. We were given some time to decide. I then suggested another dish. The staff member initially confirmed that the dish was egg free, but later returned to tell me that it was not egg free, and that it would need to be modified. Please train your staff in the contents of each dish, so that they can confidently tell customers whether the dish does or does not meet their dietary requirement, and can confidently offer alternatives if required.

There is literally nothing to complain about and everything to love. The staff are wonderful people, the food is top teir, and youd be hard pressed finding better cocktails. We were lucky to have Josh and Sydney as bartenders. If youre lucky enough to get either of them, youll find no need to bar hop. They can do gluten free pizza and some items. Its just good. No words about it, come and experience it instead

We booked Coco’s private room for a hens party. The staff were fantastic, set menu was delicious and effortlessly catered to dietary requirements including gluten free and coeliac. The private area was completely separate, we had our own bathroom, iPad loaded with Spotify, a huge speaker and disco lights which made the night so fun. The staff were so accommodating and let us enjoy the area for such a long time - if you’re after a gorgeous place, right on K Road, with fantastic food, and great cocktails for a private event - definitely get in touch with them!

Tried to dine there tonight after looking at menu that said they cater for allergies and had build your own pizza etc. We arrived and once I asked what I could eat off menu as a ceiliac person all the food I asked if it was safe for me the answer I got was IT SHOULD BE. I asked her to check with chef and that's when she came back saying that he not want to serve me and can be 100% and he not sure what I can eat. If your going to offer food options and you offer gluten free if would be a good idea to actually have food safe for me to eat. We had ordered a drink and once they realized that I was Har to cater to there was no more service for 20 minutes and when we decided to leave and pay for drinks she then asked if I still wanted to order. Sorry but I need to say they are poorly equipped to run or understand food requirements.
