Delicious celiac safe establishment with world class baked goods and crepes. Their almond and chocolate croissants are fantastic! The crepes were devine. The owners were present, extremely friendly and confirmed their food was celiac safe. I was diagnosed with celiac 8 months ago. In my prior life, an almond croissant with morning coffee was a favorite. This was my first gluten free croissant and it was the best one I’ve ever had…better than I remember. Please visit this cafe and enjoy everything on their menu. Bon appetite!
This spot is the ultimate bakery for the flakiest gluten and dairy free pastries!! It is by far my favourite gluten free bakery! I would go back to Montreal just to visit this spot 😍
Not the fanciest bakery and was missing some products, but the food they did have was amazing. It is always great to find these hidden bakeries that are 100% gluten-free. I will definitely be returning.
Since I've been gluten-free (almost two years!), this is one of the few places where I finally feel "normal" when I order a dessert, a loaf of bread, or a delicious meal without having to worry. Everything is delicious, safe, and made with love.
Suzie Sans Gluten has literally changed my life. Their caring team, incredible products, and warm atmosphere make every visit a joy.
This place is now 100 percent gluten free. I confirmed Celiac safe with the server. No gluten in entire restaurant and they are cautious with product sources. To top it all off, they make their own honey on their rooftop. My husband and I were so excited to discover this lovely restaurant. The staff is also amazing. Support this restaurant, we need places like this to stay open and thrive. Mahalo and Merci Bistro Hortus!
delicious gluten free crepes! had a sweet one with apples and pears and caramel, wasn't bad. my husband had a savory one with egg and it was great! the people working there messed up though, we put in the order for 2 crepes and they only made the savory one for some reason. they came out and asked me what I ordered and I had to wait another 20 mins for it. it was especially strange since we were the only customers so not really sure how that happened, and we were in a bit of a rush so having to wait was annoying. they were nice about it though.
Amazing gluten free treats! Had a few different items from this bakery and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the baked goods. Highly recommend!!
Wonderful food, excellent service with live music! The portions are the perfect size per person! We had the poutine, lamb pasta with gluten-free pasta available, and lamb with potatoes and vegetables.
If you're lucky enough to have Oliver as your waiter, you will have an unforgettable dining experience!! He dilgently served my delicious gluten-free meal (chicken curry). Shoutout to Julianne who bartended with such finess!
Best place in Montreal to eat Indian vegan and gluten free food !! Abhi was so friendly and so nice, and I spent such a good moment in Tula. This is a must try in Montreal and the best Indian food I ever tasted. Everything is very healthy, and spices are very well balanced. Thank you so much !!
This place is amazing!! We ordered the gluten free Paesana Pizza and it was delicious! The service here is top teir and the atmosphere is beautiful. We enjoyed the outdoor seating and it was great!! Definitely recommend this place!
I was hesitant to try this place because I'm English and my french is terrible at best, however, the waiter spoke English with me. I didn't ask him to but there is no hiding how terrible my french is and I did appreciate it even though I was prepared to power through. I've had some bad experiences in restaurants in Quebec but this guy was kind and didn't make me feel stupid for trying.
I was also nervous because I'm a newly diagnosed celiac and hate feeling like I'm being a bother about my food, however, i get so sick if I eat wrong that I truly cant risk it. I have had many bad experiences eating out as a celiac, either with hidden gluten in my food or snotty waiters who clearly think I'm lying. This place was not like that at all. This place was higly rated as celiac friendly and boy are they ever! They have a special section in their main menu for gluten free options. The waiter was very kind and took me seriously. They changed out the cutlery and use different everything for celiacs to avoid cross contamination. I was immediately put at ease. Between myself and my two kids we all had different dishes and we all loved what we had. The gluten free garlic bread was so incredibly good i wish I had more! If I'm ever in the area again this place would be on my must visit list for any meal.
Every place that can create brownies without gluten or dairy, and which still taste delicious, deserves five stars. In addition, staff was super friendly and the interior is modern and up to date. The cortado coffee is great as well. Recommended. The washrooms were clean. They ate located in the basement and are not wheelchair accessible.
They had a separate GF menu. Server was knowledgeable, quick, funny and professional. Really nice atmosphere with the plants and the live music. I ordered the beet salad, ribs and fries all as appetizers. The beet salad was alright, ribs were absolutely delicious, fries were good. They have a separate air frier for those who are celiac like me.
I ordered the poutine with gluten-free gravy. I mentioned I have celiac and confirmed with the server that the dish was gluten-free. It was only 20 minutes later when all my friends got their food that she told me the fries are prepared in the same fryer as everything else and asked again if that was okay. I said no, and tried to order a different dish marked "gluten-free". It turns out that every single item labelled "gluten-free" on their menu is deep-fried, so NONE of their labelled items are actually gluten-free. Had I known while ordering, my friends and I would have gone elsewhere. This is the first time I've seen a restaurant claim on its menu that its dishes are safe from gluten and not even have a single option that is actually safe. Either the kitchen protocols need to change, or the menu does. This is a serious oversight.
Rather disappointed for a first experience, the dishes basic and disappointing. The dishes are served with some fresh fruit which is nice.
As for the atmosphere, if you want to be a little quiet, forget it, it's terribly noisy! The service wasn't great, but we can understand if someone is a beginner. The very pleasant waitress at the start of the meal finally asked us to hurry up and accommodate other people! Something crazy! Arrivals at 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. outside. You pay and you get out! The waitress thought we had been warned, this was not the case. And in this case we would have understood! I arrived from France to see a Canadian friend and I admit that I was shocked!
Very disappointed especially as we chose this place for their gluten-free menu.
Damage ! Note the bad faith of the owner in his response! And as for absolutely no harm to you! When it's good I say it and sometimes it's not so good! Best wishes.
One of the best brunch places in Montreal! Accessible prices, gluten-free version available without problem for celiacs, and excellent food with copious dishes!! Special mention for the scrambled tofu, the Greek, the full vegetables, the asparagus Benedictines and the red juice that I take every time! In short, a treat, a warm and friendly atmosphere. Thanks to chef Saïd for delighting us!
Great if you are vegetarian or vegan, gluten-free options available
Server vigilant on this point (confirmation of intolerance or celiac before ordering)
So glad this place exists!
The food is phenomenal and everything is vegan. They also have many gluten free options that aren't marked on the menu (you can ask when you call or ask a waiter.tress on site).
Everything was just perfect! I have celiac and it was a dream to be able to order almost anything on the menu because they are able to adjust these options to be gluten free and have a knowledgeable server! Chez-Boulay is now our must visit spots when we come to Quebec City.
I walked in here to have lunch randomly, I was pleasantly surprised with how cute the interior was, but better yet, the food was so delicious. I had fantastic service as well, and let the server know about my gluten intolerance and she was very helpful guiding me in what to eat and also had great recommendations. My lunch was so tasty! Highly recommend.

It‘s a cute restaurant with friendly staff. Although it’s not a 100% GF they have some GF items on the menue that are clearly marked as GF. We had the GF Tacos and they were delicious
amazing, some of the best food we had in quebec. they have an entire separate gluten free menu, I felt really safe as a celiac. still dreaming about the cassoulet and creme brulee! service was also great, super friendly and knowledgeable.
Great service!! Warm atmosphere and the dishes were delicious and different from what you see in other cafes, I recommend 100%! Lots of gluten-free options too, which was very appreciated! Thanks again!
Delicious meal with gluten-free, dairy-free (vegan, therefore lactose-free) options suitable for special diets.
One of the best affordable, healthy, and tasty meals we've had in a restaurant since having to deal with dietary restrictions! 😍 The best gluten-free falafels we've ever had!! And the pesto sauce is INCREDIBLE 🤤 The falafel platter is definitely worth it, the warm salads are delicious and pair perfectly with the falafels!
The service was impeccable: the employees are courteous, smiling, friendly, and efficient. They were able to quickly answer our questions about ingredients and took the time to confirm known allergens in their products to confirm whether a substitution was suitable. 👌
For parents on vacation looking for a fast, healthy, and simplified dining option for dietary restrictions: this restaurant is a gem!
Our thanks to the owner for running such a great restaurant; you made a huge difference in our vacation experience 🙏
We would love to see a Colibri again in the Eastern Townships 🤞😁

The experience starts with a small crowded entrance space where you are supposed to wait until someone comes to seat you. Once finally seated, you'll wait for your simple order (crepes) for 40 minutes. Neither espresso nor hot chocolate are good, crepes are dry and tasteless. We only came here because they offer gluten free crepes and it was a big disappointment and a waste of time.
Super good, except I was expecting a gluten-free Benedictine. But there were similar ones, and they were excellent. I started making them at home. As for the service, we waited 30 minutes, then another 30 minutes to place our order.
I loved the plates; they were very beautiful, colorful, and healthy, plus the portions were tasty and generous. A fireplace on the terrace made the place warm, and there was ample parking. It was a wonderful Mother's Day. Thank you.
Every time I have such a nice waitress, I love her, a lady with a slight Finnish accent! The staff is always courteous.
The gluten-free lunches are excellent, and I've never been sick, which is perfect! I still have to try their all-you-can-eat pasta and pizza Wednesdays, even gluten-free with a supplement.
It's the only place I eat gluten-free lunches; I feel safe.
The place is clean, I love it!
It even makes me want to work there, their atmosphere seems so nice!
I highly recommend it.
Note: Lunches are a little more expensive, but as a celiac, that's how it is, and it's also good.
If it were possible to give a negative review I would.
I just had the most awful, disrespectful and rude experience with one of the waitresses at this location. My friend and I ordered 2 appetizers (tater tots, and one pretzel), as my meal I ordered the Classic burger, and requested a gluten free bun as I am gluten intolerant. Gluten intolerant means that I can only handle certain and very limited amounts of gluten or I get violently ill.
Upon receiving my bill I had questioned the waitress why I was not charged for the gluten free bun and she went silent. I then proceeded to ask if the bun was in fact gluten free and to my surprise she replied with a snarky "well it was whatever you ordered". I then began to describe the bun to her and she insisted that both buns looked similar and had a yellowish tint to them. I explained very calmly to her that its a good thing this isn't an allergy that could kill me but that I would experience stomach pain as it in as intolerance. She insisted that I should've noticed that it wasn't a gluten free bun prior to eating it and wouldn't even bring out examples to show me the difference.
Despite this issue, I still tipped her 10%, which I would've gladly given her more had she gotten the order correct.
After leaving, my friend insisted that we should not of been treated like that and decided to go back in to explain that this is not how you treat paying customers and for future to be more careful. However, this is when things got worse, instead of taking responsibility and apologizing, this waitress got very defensive. She insisted that it was my fault and I should've known it wasn't gluten free. She decided to throw even more shade at us by claiming that it didn't make sense that I wanted a gluten free bun if I had ordered a pretzel which contains gluten. Not that it is any of the staffs business, how much gluten I can eat but when this argument was used my friend continued to explain that I can tolerate certain amounts of gluten which is why we shared the pretzel. The waitress continued to argue that it was rude of me to tip so low, however the tip should've 0$ since she messed up on something that will affect my health. On top of these comments and arguments that this waitress was making, another male employee decided to chime into the conversation asking if I had hypoglycaemia and if that's the reason I couldn't eat gluten while laughing and making fun of me.
Customer service is clearly non-existent here and this situation could've been handled many other professional ways. This is not the way that paying customers should be treated. We have eaten here before and enjoyed it. We had no bad intentions, all we wanted was for the staff to be more careful in the future however, we will never be going back here and we do not advice anyone with allergies or restrictions to go here either because they are extremely careless and rude.
