Loved this spot!
Highlights: ambiance is a yes, pizza is a full fak YES. Their pizzas are a tribute to their own favorite pizzas from all over. Isn’t that the cutest and most inventive thing ever?
Order: focaccia and burrata (just do it), enough pizzas to share, and some good drinks. We loved the tribute to the old Costco pizza and the meat lovers. Deep dish pizzas also looked to die for! Also, I’m gluten-free and LOVED their gluten-free pizza (usually I’m left feeling very disappointed but not here)!
Great for: date night, friend hangs, family dinners, and casual solo pizza nights out with your dog (they have two patios for dogs to sit). Kids are welcome too!
Make sure you make a reservation and try and carpool as parking around here is tough on a busy Friday/Saturday night.
Dietary restriction diners beware. I ordered a vegan entree and was served dairy butter along with it, which luckily I was smart enough to ask the waitress about before taking a bite. If a diner orders off the vegan menu, and the entree comes with butter, WHY would it be non-vegan butter?
However, the server was kind, the food was tasty, and the restaurant was nice. I appreciated how well labelled the menu was for dietary restrictions (I am also gluten free) but would hesitate to return given the severity of that error.
Love coming here for breakfast or lunch, especially when I have visitors in town! They have a fabulous menu with lots of yummy gluten free options. I always order the tropical salad with shrimp and it’s huge with tons of fresh fruits and veggies, marinated grilled shrimp, and super flavorful basil vinaigrette. Their smoothies are awesome, too. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend checking this place out!
So you want/need a place with spacious, calming ambiance inside seating, as well as outside seating? You need to bring 15 friends?, well, they got you with plenty of room! ~Or maybe you meet one friend but have three hour’s worth of catching up to do? ~This is The Place! ~Where they have amazing vegan, gluten free donuts with chocolate frosting that tastes like a 5 star Michelin Bakery, haha!! Or maybe a beyond perfect raspberry square with a light buttery shortbread dough and perfection on the crumble topping which is not overly sweet that would please your Scottish Grandmom? How about awesome sandwiches, great toasted and cream cheese bagels, or Topo Chico if you don’t want coffee or tea?? AND Kind and cheerful waitstaff~Yes! We have been to many, many coffee shops/cafes around SD! So many seem to get their baked goods from Bread and Cie, which is ok, but super repetitive! I cannot say enough about this place. It is That Great! You will not be disappointed! Lastly there is a super cool little plant nursery that has wonderful succulent plants among others! There are also nice art cards and a small selection of gifts offered there! Enjoy!!
Was skeptical coming here as I thought it was only a Vegan place, however some of their food can be made to be vegan or gluten free. The Carne Asada was flavorful in the big breakfast burrito. My favorite thing was the Vegan Horchata Latte. I will be dreaming about that drink until the next time I come back to San Diego to visit.
This "coffee boutique" is a definite must -stop if you're in North Park.
I had the Mexican mocha - YUM! I'd always wondered about the quality of Abuelita chocolate since I'm still discovering more and more about Mexican. But, OMG, it was fire! The lusciousness of that chocolate...wow! I need to head straight to the store and get some of it!
My husband had the mocha with Reeces. Peanut butter explosion! He was a happy guy. My mom enjoyed a decaf Americano, which she described as "not bitter and very hot."
Please take note that the parking situation is a challenge, putting it mildly. I have an 80-year-old mother and my own disability to take into consideration. I wish I'd known about the parking and entrance behind the store. That said, we were able to park around the corner, which was only a few steps away.
It has a nice vibe to it. The menu is very vegan and gluten-free friendly, including the donuts! We would've stayed, but we had take-out in the car; otherwise, we would've stayed. Definitely have to keep this on the list.
Actually came here for Yelp event and took an order to go.
It was just the plain Buttermilk Pancakes and Whipped Mascarpone topping. I actually wanted the red velvet pancakes but they don't have those to go to avoid any cross-contamination on their griddles at the back. The custom flavors are only available for stove top. To go orders were for gluten-free or buttermilk pancakes only.
That said I actually really loved even those buttermilk pancakes so I can only imagine how good the red velvet must be! Just the right amount of sweet and I didn't even need to add any toppings on it.
Mascarpone was perfectly smooth and delicious on its own as well.
Really looking forward to coming here and making my own pancakes sometime soon.
Update to yesterday's review. As We were leaving we talked with the server saying I just don't want to get sick from gluten....she laughed and said, Oh you won't get sick.
Oh YES I DID!
Celiacs BEWARE!
Guess I should have taken the 5%
Chance seriously.
We came in in the afternoon and no one else was there. Ordered drinks and food. Sat nearly half an hour waiting. Finally food arrived but then she asked if we wanted drinks with the food. We reminded her of what we had ordered when we first arrived. So she did go and get them. We got the meat platter and asked her to tell us what each thing was. She just gave us the number of the items off the menu which we did not have. So we asked what each item was again. She the quickly said and went away...never to return until we went to the counter to ask for another drink. (Don't order the honey wine, it was just gross and tested of mold.) Then about 15 minutes later she brought the drinks. She was nice enough just not a a good server. Gluten free was requested and she would say well it is 95% gluten free. I said what is the 5 percent that isn't. She thought that was funny. I will revise if I get sick. Enjera was gluten free and none of the meat contained gluten, I was told. ???
Amazing coffee, super friendly staff, and delish breakfast bagels (gluten free friendly options as well!). They also sell super cute local art and magnets that make great gifts
I'm surprised this place wasn't more crowded. The food was DELICIOUS, unuque (if that's what you want) and reasonably priced. Even the traditional fare, like my friend and I had (if you want to call a terducken burger 'traditional') were cooked to perfection and tasted just really really good. They had 3 options for the buns: brioche, gluten-free, or vegan.
I had my burger animal style though because we couldn't determine if any of the buns were soy-free. Their BBQ sauce is though - they make it in house & it's pretty tasty too.
Whenever I go through North Park, I'll definitely come here again.
OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Came here with our Bridal party for brunch, was a short wait to get seated. Our server Tyler was the absolute best, most kind person, and made our experience that much better and more fun! And don't even get me started on the food! If your looking for something, fresh, farm to table, organic, only the best ingredients, and absolutely delicious!! This is the place!! The best food and drinks I've had in a long while! Truly quality food that you can taste! The galaxy tea was such a fun experience too! The dutch pancakes were absolutely to die for!! They also had a gluten free lava cake dessert that was great for one of the girls in our party. The atmosphere was really beautiful and the bathrooms were clean. And our server Tyler even brought a free dessert for our bride! This place was so good that we are still talking about it and we want to go back! There is so much more on the menu to try!
I gave 5 stars as us like to return to try different options as I may not have chosen the best. Cute place. Order at the counter, then brought to your table. That day the counter person could not recommend what beer may have been gluten free. And it was a truck to get salsa. However happy to try again.
