Despite being listed as celiac-friendly, this place is absolutely not safe for people with celiac disease. When I asked for a glove change, the staff told me there was “no point” due to cross-contamination on the counters and made no effort to accommodate. There is no dedicated appliance (toaster/panini press), and their attitude toward basic safety measures was dismissive at best. It’s very clear they do not understand or respect the precautions necessary for someone with celiac. Disappointed and would not recommend for anyone needing a medically gluten-free meal. Very disappointing, it was my favorite before becoming diagnosed.
Vegan and gluten free friendly (with vegan cheese and THREE gluten free vegan crust options to choose from), and Scott went so far above and beyond for us. He was especially kind to our eight year old son, Isaiah. It's always so refreshing when people in the restaurant business are delighted by the presence of children. My husband said the regular crust is one of the best he's ever had. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend Village Pizza in Nags Head, OBX.
My first Jersey Mike’s sub was yesterday at the shop just over Wright Memorial Bridge in Kitty Hawk. It was a portobello and Swiss on a gluten-free bun. So good! Very friendly employees as well. 👍👍
The prices are a little steep, but the food and service are great! I was happy to see gluten free options because most places don't recognize this. Our waiter, Mike, was on point, very knowledgeable and most courteous. The view was amazing as we were seated by the window overlooking the sound. However, the room was VERY loud; there were many large parties in a little room and the acoustics lacked a lot to be desired. For the size room, less large party tables would have been better, but I'm sure they accommodate groups based on need. Overall, it was a good experience, but I don't think the Waterfront Style Scallops was worth the money. My husband had the 1/2 lb steamed crab; 1/2 lb steamed shrimp and the shrimp could have used a little more time in the steamer.
Really cool local coffee shop. Great specialty coffees, hot, iced and frozen. Also a bunch of homemade tea options too! Bagels, pastries snd muffin options. A few Gluten Free options as well.
When we arrived, we were not sure what we would expect. But based on the reviews, we thought we needed to try this place. As we were just passing through, it seemed like an interesting opportunity for us. I wasn’t that hungry and had a very light meal With the sirloin tips. But my wife, she was pretty hungry. She ordered the Bouillabaisse. She usually cannot order this due to it, not being gluten-free. But this was gluten-free so she took the opportunity for a treat. When it arrived at the table after her first bite, she looked at me and she said and I quote: this is ridiculously good! In fact, she said it was the best she’s ever eaten in her entire life, couple out with Tracy, who has been a server at this place for 35 years and we had a winner. Yes, it seems a little old and musty due to the history of the restaurant, but you quickly get used to that too. What an experience for us to have died at this lovely establishment called Owens. Thank you, Tracey For the great service and thank you for the great meal always!
First time having an Açaí bowl! It was yummy and great gluten and dairy free option in the Summer! The staff was helpful and nice to answer my questions while giving me a sample! My sister loved her smooths and my son loved his ice cream! Highly recommended!
