I stopped by with my mother to grab lunch. We got a tea, leek and potato soup, and 2 scrambled eggs on gluten free toast. The wait time was pretty long, about 40 minutes. The tea was not very hot, and tasted like whatever had been in the pot prior. My mother was not very pleased with her eggs or toast- especially considering the pricetag of £9.
I enjoyed my soup, a very large amount, however the potato had seemed to have partially dissolved in the broth and there wasn't very much of it actually in there.
More of a personal issue, but the music was extremely loud to the point where we could not hear each other talk, even at louder volumes which was rather limiting to conversation. The door was also kept open despite the rain and I found myself rather cold.
We used to come here a lot but the quality of the food and service has dropped significantly and I dont think we will come back.
However the waitress was very nice! She swapped the dairy milk for oat when we asked about it and brought over extra water :)
This is a cozy cafe with a nice alternative vibe. Where you get delicious looking and tasting food and drinks. Where you can chill out, grab a board game or work on your laptop. It is quite popular, so sometimes in summer you might have to wait and come back as they have 7 tables and ruffly 18 seats.
Vegan and gluten-free friendly and always new cool drinks on the menu. Plus I like that they display and sell local arts and crafts.

Fantastic spot for dinner!
The menu had great variety, including plenty of gluten-free options—which was a big reason we chose it. The space is beautiful, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We didn’t need a reservation, but since it’s a smaller restaurant, it’s probably smart to book ahead. Highly recommend!
We had a recommendation to try Mustard Seed in Inverness and it didn’t let us down. We arrived late’ish on a Friday night and the friendly team accommodated us with a table. Food was very wholesome and really enjoyed it. Highlights for us were the mussels and venison. Gluten free well accommodated.
Friendly little cafe with great food and loads of veggie, vegan & gluten free choices. I had vegan breakfast (I'm actually veggie but not fussed about eggs) I got veggie haggis, tatty scone, hash browns, veggie sausages & beans & tomato. Very nice! Partner had a Scottish breakfast and said the black pudding was the best he's ever had. Dogs welcome & have their own menu.
Super find on our way through Inverness. Super friendly staff, yummy food and clean comfortable facilities. They are pet friendly and also offered gluten free alternatives.
10/10 for burgers. We had the Scotch&Rye beef smash burger and the chicken with bbq pulled pork (gluten free). Excellent. Chips aka fries are cooked in a fryer that is not gluten- contaminated, so happy days. Tasty. We had one portion of ordinary fries (5*) and one portion of garlic-parmesan loaded fries (4* good but not the Absolute Taste Sensation I was expecting when they were recommended). Key Lime cheesecake: good, not too sweet, but I wanted more zing from the lime and the whipped cream detracted rather than added. The cake portions were modest -- makes sense because burgers and fries are big, but felt a bit mean in comparison.
Service: super-friendly, very welcoming, but slowed down when it became busier and our second round of drinks never arrived, nor did the bill (check) before we put on our coats and asked to pay.
Atmosphere: we enjoyed the soul-funk playlist and we didn't feel hurried.
A solid 8.67/10.
Very tasty.
Caters for gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan.
Go.
Quick bite to eat whilst visiting Inverness for the day.
Im gluten free and was really fancying a burger and after some google searching found this place and it did not disappoint.
the burger was amazing. Best burger I’ve had in a while. Didn’t have any cocktails but they looked great.
Staff friendly, squeezed us in before 5:30 prior to a booking already in, as didn’t want a table near the door as it was freezing, as we were only looking for a quick bite to eat.
Drinks served quickly, and burgers were also served in a reasonable time.
Looked a great place for drinking cocktails. Would definitely return.
Fantastic experience for my mum's birthday. Main courses were amazing and catered for celiac disease with an exclusive menu. Desserts were equally as good. Thank you so much for putting decorations and even a wee candle on my mum's dessert. Also all of the staff were so friendly, a credit to the restaurant!! We will be back for sure 😁
4 adults - servers weren't clear and struggled to make sense of what they were saying. Food came out incredibly slow, by the time the 4th dessert come out all 3 other desserts were eaten. The gluten free pizza is not worth the money.
Lorrimers is a great eater, we always love the breakfasts from here. Although we have been for high tea and was
Brilliant. Also my other half picked me up gluten free sandwichs and they where brilliant, which to everyone else
Sounds normal, but finding good gluten free sandwiches when taking away isnt an easy feat, but lorrimer knocked
Out the park best gf sandwich ive had for take away.
Went here for lunch on the 7th for my birthday. Really good food. We had the chicken burgers, made from fresh chicken breast. I asked if they had wheat and gluten free roll and they went out of there way to help. Staff were really nice. There having work done at the moment so they gave us free coffee for the inconvenience. Would definitely eat here again
Positives: good wifi, close to the train station, abundant gluten-free options, supports local folks in need.
Negatives: 30 minute wait for basic breakfast (toast, poached egg, sausage link, and a piece of bacon) and the beans were still cold, coffee was pretty harsh.
The cafe does get good overall reviews, so it's possible we just had a bad experience. Not great, though, if you're waiting for a train or want to squeeze in some breakfast on any kind of timeline.
Went here yesterday and the food was so delicious!! Their scrambled eggs are cooked perfectly and each scramble put group had was full of flavor!! The gluten free bread was actually good and a thick cut! My boyfriend said the French toast was the best he’s ever had!
Thank you!! :)
Food was stunning, so flavourful! Loads of gluten free options and lovely staff. Very happy with this little cafe, if we didn't live so far away we'd be there weekly ❤️
Café de Paulo is an absolute delight tucked away in the charming Victorian Market. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, cozy, and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and clearly take pride in both the food and service.
I ordered a beautifully presented breakfast plate featuring fluffy pancakes topped with fresh strawberries, bananas, blueberries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and a drizzle of honey. The scrambled eggs on the side were creamy and perfectly seasoned—true comfort food.
To complement the meal, I had a hot chocolate with the most stunning latte art I’ve seen. It was rich, velvety, and balanced—not too sweet, just how I like it.
The attention to detail, from presentation to flavor, was impressive. There are plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options too, which makes it accessible for everyone.
Highly recommend this spot if you're in Inverness—whether you’re a local or just passing through, Café de Paulo is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to!
Super tasty, portions are good, they have a nice looking selection of cakes and pastries. Gluten free options available. Nice to have somewhere like this close by.
