the baked goods are so tasty! my most recent visit here was to get a gluten free cupcake for my friend for my birthday party. I was shocked to see how many gluten free options there were to chose from! she LOVED the gf carrot cake!!
I ordered a “sicilia” explicitly asking if there was tomato sauce on it, the waiter said yes. They brought a pizza with no tomato sauce, only cherry tomatoes and eggplants. I asked to add tomato sauce and they added the sauce from the can without even heating it up again.
Also way too expensive for the service and quality of food. Not many vegan options. +5 for gluten free is too much
I love Simply Sweets! Their products are always so fresh and delicious! The customer service is excellent as well. As a vegan, I feel so lucky to have this amazing place in our neighborhood. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves healthy, gluten free, plant-based, vegan, and of course delicious sweets!
This is my favorite casual gluten free breakfast in Brooklyn. The staff is aware of allergies, the gf pancakes are so solid, and there are so many options. Everything is good and there is a real sense of nutritional intentionality behind the menu. I have celiacs and have never gotten sick here, even while ordering it online for
Delivery.
The knockout tea is truly medicinal. Everyone loves this places.
This place is truly a gem. I adore this place and love bringing people here to show off the neighborhood. The platter for two is massive and can really feed three people. Everything is vegetarian! Gluten free injera bread is available but it is first come first serve, as they only make a limited amount per day. That being said, I’ve never had an issue getting it so if you have celiac or are gluten free, this is definitely a great place to try! The food feels super healthy and doesn’t leave you feeling gross, plus the coffee is outstanding. If you can go for the coffee experience, it is so worth it! Love Bunna!!!
Lovely big open space. Great selection of vegan & vegan gluten free options. I had a corn muffin thing recently that was delicious but monkey bread is still my #1.
One of our favourite places to eat in NYC (and we live here!) really creative, delicious and nutritious food, awesome service, lots of deals and a really light and fun vibe. Great cocktails, a good choice of wine and lots of gluten-free options too. Shout out to Ben H for making this particular visit so lovely - wonderful human!
The gluten free bagel was insanely good!!!! Best gluten free bagel in NYC hands down. I had to do a double take and make sure I was indeed eating a gluten free bagel - it tasted thag good! The ladies are very friendly and created a lovely atmosphere.
Clean eating but kind of boring for the price. Good for dietary restrictions like gluten free stuff. Just not very exciting and not very large portions so didn't like the price was entirely justified. The non alcoholic drinks are a rip off for sure. $12 for like 4 oz of juice essentially. That was a little steep. Service was very good however, atmosphere was nice. Went for brunch so the wait for the food was a bit long. Fresh juices were very good.
My favorite local vegan cafe, I always get the blue breakfast smoothie! It’s nice to have healthy organic options.. not to mention gluten free muffins!! The staff is always nice as well :)
I rarely leave reviews, but I felt I had to share my experience today 3-3:30PM.
I came to pick up a birthday cake I had ordered three weeks in advance for someone very special to me. I chose this bakery because of its great reputation for healthy, gluten-free cakes—and I was genuinely looking forward to trying it.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service I received.
When I walked in, I greeted the staff warmly with a smile and a “hello.” The woman behind the counter asked for my pickup name, and I gave it—adding that it was for a cake I had pre-ordered.
She immediately cut me off and said, “I only asked for your name,” with a smirk, as if I had said something wrong. It felt unnecessarily rude, but I chose to stay polite and move on.
What really upset me was what happened next.
As she was handing me the cake, it suddenly tilted heavily to one side and nearly slipped out of the box. I had to catch it quickly with my own hands to keep it from toppling over completely.
Despite this, she didn’t apologize or check to see if the cake was okay. She simply said, “Don’t worry, it’s fine,” and handed it over as if nothing had happened.
Because of the tilt, the glitter decoration—which I had paid extra for—ended up smudged all over the clear part of the cake box.
Because I was leaving for the out of town right after, I didn’t have time to request a replacement—but I left the store feeling very upset and disappointed.
I also politely asked if they had a plastic knife I could use to cut the cake, and again, her response was dismissive and mocking. She laughed and said, “I’ve never heard of that,” as if it were a ridiculous question.
I completely understand if they don’t provide plastic knives—but there’s a respectful way to say that without belittling the customer or comparing other bakeries in a sarcastic tone.
And just to clarify, many bakeries do offer plastic knives for convenience—so it wasn’t an unreasonable question at all.
I don’t know what kind of day she was having or why she felt the need to treat a customer this way—but for someone picking up a cake for a special occasion, it left a really bitter impression.
This one interaction had the power to ruin what should’ve been a joyful and meaningful moment.
For a place with such a strong reputation, I hope the management considers the impact staff attitude can have on a customer’s experience.
No matter how good the product may be, the service still matters.
ISO recommendations on GF restaurants/coffee shops and where to get GF groceries (bread, pasta, cereals...) around Kensington/Windsor terrace/Park Slope area 🤞
Awesome place!.... Food was delicious, fresh and served with a smile. High quality ingredients. Great gluten free options. Worth visiting. A good find.
Super tasty lattes!! And also a really good gluten free chocolate chip cookie, perfect for gluten free girlfriends. Mainly though, the atmosphere was so fun and friendly. Real masters of their craft running the shop. We will be back!
I have been an Ursula evangelist since they opened. At this expanded location on Nostrand, I am even more so. The breakfast burritos have always been incredible, and now with an expanded brunch, lunch and dinner menu, you get the best of New Mexican cuisine with an amazing atmosphere and staff. The food is consistently creative and delicious. As someone who is gluten free, I can eat the majority of this menu with reckless abandon (even the desserts!!). So many great vegan and vegetarian options too. The food is also great as take out. This is the perfect spot for a fun dinner with friends or a cute date night. Can’t recommend Ursula’s enough!
The employees here are truly the best and a great part of the neighborhood. I also really appreciate the gluten free bread options for bagels and sandwiches!!
Because of the gluten-free options, I’ve given this place multiple tries and every time it’s the same.
Long wait times, regardless of how many people are in front of you. Incredibly small portions for a seemingly ridiculous price (even in this economy). I swear they only use 1 medium egg with every sandwich. My friend got a BEC on a bagel and could barely find the egg. Watery smoothies. Chai latte tastes like cereal milk. Food generally tastes good but def not worth the time and money. At this point, idc if it’s organic, I’d rather pop into my local bodega and add gluten free bread from home. Vibes are 100% gentrification from aesthetics to pricing to the demographic that continues to come here.
I just landed in NYC after completing the Camino De Santiago. Walking around the city to decompress between flights and happened upon this little gem.
Vibes and service were phenomenal. The people at the counter very friendly, and honestly it was refreshing just to have a bit of Spanish interaction.
I only got a smoothie (delicious!) but the food looked great as well. I also noticed there are several gluten free options.
Beautiful and delicious food with a stunning space. Brought these stunning gluten-free mini cakes to someone recently who is still talking about how amazing they are! Highly recommend a visit to the bakery and for all catering needs.
I’ve been going here weekly from day one! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Not only does it feel like home and the staff are pure gems, but I have celiac disease and they are so careful to not glutenize me! The juice is amazing, the food is on point, the snacks 💜
If you’re looking for something and they don’t carry it they can get it! This has happened twice in my decade of living this neighborhood place! Will always go here, you’re crazy if you don’t support this local female owned spot!!! 5 stars all day, everyday!!! Love them!!!
Love this place! The staff is very friendly and the decor has a homey vibe to it - a nice contrast to generic cafes. The cold brew is very strong and I love the size of their ice. The pandebono is a must try!! I got three today. If you haven’t tried it’s a gluten free cheese bread that is incredible eaten warm.
I was really excited to have a neighborhood spot with gluten free goodies but I can’t eat them after I had a blueberry corn muffin that was completely uncooked inside. It was fully raw in the middle. I would also dissuade one from getting the matcha which is unfortunately quite gross ( too sweet - even when you order unsweetened. Undrinkable)
The best gluten free crepes I’ve ever had! Both savory and sweet options were absolutely delicious. And the most thoughtful, wonderful staff who helped facilitate a little birthday surprise for us <3
The food and service is amazing! On top of that I never have to worry about not finding options with my gluten allergy. They have a huge selection of gluten free desserts and food options.
Good music and very chill vibe, good options for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian people with soups salad wraps or grain bowls. Nice study or focus spot outlets available
Worst chicken & Pesto panini ever! Chicken was like 1/4 of breast cutlet or three small slices of chicken and 2 Gluten free breads was fall apart. There was no pesto! And cost $20 wtf!
A nice selection of gluten free dishes and juices. Most of the juices are strictly fruits or vegetables and may not be sweet enough for some people. They are taking excellent precautions during Covid-19 to prepare and minimize there amount of people within the store at once.
I'm no foodie. I'm no influencer. I'm no chicken sandwich expert. But I'm nearly 50, and the chicken sandwich that was served to me, was the best that I can remember. The herbs in the batter were perfect and very tasty, not overpowering and the chicken fillets themselves were melt in the mouth soft. Truly exceptional.
I got into a chat with the staff mainly about Google reviews and advertising and so on and they were all absolutely lovely and assisted my daughter who requires gluten-free food as well. I really lovely little place and I hope that more sandwich girls pop up around NYC.
