As a resident of the locale, The Tin Shed used to be "the" place to go for great coffee food and charm in Lithgow. Not any more. Went out as a treat for brekky with partner as he had forgotten he had wend off. I've been so busy with work, haven't been out for ages and so wasn't aware of change in management at The Tin Shed.
Firstly if you were thinking fluffy pancakes for a change, forget it, there aren't any.
New menu looks great, lists all as vego, gluten free and vegan options which is wonderful if you're a vego like me. But failed to deliver.
Presentation was poor and the house made baked beans I'm sure we're out of a tin as I cook with them all the time, and then discovered what I think was a pork sausage after I told the wait staff " I am a vegetarian". Was so hungry as it was after 11am, I decided to remove the scantily chopped snag, pass it over to my non-vego partner and hope for the best. Partner had bacon and egg roll and said when it arrived " Is that my $20 egg and bacon roll". The wait staff would be good at a wake. Seriously, solemn faces and low energy. (Really, am sorry guys if you've lost someone in your inner circle). Had a great time as was out with partner for a change, but won't be back.
Went for dinner. I tend to avoid places like this because I'm a coeliac and sometimes it can be hard to be certain what is gluten free. Got lucky with this place - it was very clear what I was able to eat, and there were plenty of options. Did not experience a gluten attack from hidden gluten. Food was also very tasty. Left satisfied 😌
Stopped to have coffee and lunch here but a few of us ended up not eating because there was a concerning smell coming from the bathrooms wafting into the dining areas. It was freezing at the table next to the entrance and warmer towards the back. Coffee was decent and food was decent - Gyros seemed to be the star of the menu but sadly very few gluten free options so ordered salad instead.
Great cafe. Had lots of options. Catered to gluten free. We got a yum bacon and egg roll, A delicious gourmet avocado toast and kids eggs. All came out really quick and was very tasty. Definitely will be coming back
Pretty happy to eat here as a coeliac.. bit disappointing not to have the potato skins as they were classified as gf but cooked in the same fryer unfortunately. Overall the food was amazing and even better service, with the waiter checking if everything was safe!
Don't like posting bad reviews, especially for a small business. But the Mushroom omlet was completely tasteless, slightly burnt on the bottom and the mushrooms were raw. Response from my feedback was "well it's gluten free", which omlets generally are.
Can do most things gluten free which is great.
Staff are always very friendly. The food is as fresh as can be. Very very yummy. Their onion bhaji is an absolute favourite. Lots of Gluten Free options
