After a horrible experience at another restaurant, my wife and I found ourselves wandering the streets of Kalamazoo on her birthday, no less, wondering how the night could have gone so wrong. Enter: Brick and Brine. We called Brick and Brine on a busy Friday night, desperate for a table. Their hostesses were so accommodating—they found room for us, even though they were packed. From the moment we walked in, the experience was like night and day compared to where we had just been. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a beautiful duo playing live music that wasn’t too loud or too soft—just perfect for the setting. Our server, Dan, was absolutely incredible. He was personable, attentive, and helped us customize our drink selections perfectly. But what really blew us away was the care he took with my wife’s food allergies. She has gluten, dairy, and shellfish allergies, which can make dining out pretty challenging. Dan not only made sure everything was safe for her, but he even found a gluten-free and dairy-free dessert (not on the menu!) to top off the night—with a candle to celebrate her birthday. Thanks to Dan and the amazing team at Brick and Brine, what could have been a ruined birthday turned into a night we’ll never forget. The food? Phenomenal. The service? Top-tier. We spent SO much birthday money there that another restaurant could have had (Rustica, looking at you). If you’re looking for a place that will not only deliver amazing food but will also take care of you like you’re family, Brick and Brine is it. They truly saved the day for us, and we can’t recommend them enough.
