Really nice outdoor seating space, and the crab cake sandwich I had was fantastic. What I appreciated most is when I had questions about ingredients in some of the dishes, the cook came out and talked to me and made sure I ordered something completely gluten free. We'll be back there again next year!
As someone from just outside New Haven, CT—the (albeit, self-proclaimed) pizza capital—I don’t say this lightly: Duck Pizza is some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. I am gluten-free and am constantly disappointed by the pizza options I try, but Duck Pizza knocked it out of the park. Their GF crust was not only delicious fresh out of the oven, but somehow just as good cold the next day (the true test!).
The staff and owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating—going out of their way to get to know us and welcome us to Duck.
I was visiting for a week and ended up eating Duck Pizza three times—that alone should tell you how good it is. If you're gluten-free and missing out on really good pizza, or even if you're not, this place is 100% worth it.
P.S. Have some extra time? Duck Pizza is located in a great little center with some awesome local shops. I loved being able to place my order and stroll around while I waited—it turned grabbing a meal into a whole experience.
Nice little local shop. Has the basics you would need. Veggies and health foods as well. You can order sandwiches at the deli. And for you celiacs out there you can get a gluten free sandwich at the deli as well and gluten free dessert in the freezer.
Duck's Cottage is absolutely amazing!! The employees are always so friendly and service is quick. Drinks are some of the best around, worth the Saturday traffic! And they have a great selection of books and treats, including gluten free yummies!
"The Perfect 10"
When vacationing, we love to explore local eateries. We were excited to try Aqua and that set high expectations. And Aqua Exceeded every one!! Aqua is not inexpensive and I did not want my guests to feel the need to order based on cost. Staff printed "blind menus" just for my party of 6. Very kind. First "win" for the team. Sat down at sunset, indoors over looking the sound...spectacular view. Win number two. Service was fantastic! Waiter knew foods and how there were prepared and able to make acco.modate two gluten and one dairy allergy. Win number three. Drinks were even better than their descriptions...I LOVED my King Richard and the Pear Martini was sublime. Win number four. Apps were amazingly presented, delicious and good for sharing amongst a party of 6. Crab chowder, scallop ceviche, Banging Shrimp, Truffle Fries...all superb. Win number five. And then dinner comes out. No list of adjectives will suffice! Local Red Snapper, Shrimp and Grits, Sirloin cooked perfectly...Every one loved every bite. Win number five. Desserts including sorbet, ice cream, peanut butter pie (OMG) and Key Lime pie delicious and not too sweet...just perfect. Win number six!
We have been to many places but I do not ever recall a finer meal. Aqua was a perfect evening and worth every penny paid...and then some!
Best pad Thai I’ve ever had and absolutely will be back! I have a wheat allergy, and the waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten free options. They have a dedicated GF menu as well with starts, entrees, and sushi. They have GF soy sauce as well. My husband had the drunken noodles and said it was great.
The service was very quick and the restaurant just has a cool vibe overall.
The food is perfectly prepared. I had scallops, the duck wontons, coconut shrimp, the pickle brined fried chicken sandwich, and the cheeseburger on different occasions, all superb. They're very sensitive to celiac disease and will prepare safe GF meals. The service is friendly, and there's outdoor dining.
Wow, what a find in Duck. We've been going to Duck for 25 years and just experienced the sound lounge. A must visit for anyone and especially anyone with Celiac. The servers and kitchen staff know exactly what to look for for avoiding cross contamination and even verify, multiple times about potential celiac issues. Thank you for providing such a great service and atmosphere! Wonderful experience and stick around for the sunset, you won't be disappointed!
Cute little restaurant with an open kitchen. They were very accommodating with my child’s gluten allergy and used separate pans and gloves to handle her food, which I appreciated. The waitstaff was not super well versed on what to do with this particular food allergy, but the kitchen staff seemed prepared and one of the other servers/runners even brought out gluten free sauces for her to try. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the service did feel a bit rushed.
