Myself and 4 others were in town for a military event. All 4 were military men, and were quiet and respectful. We went in to Big Belly Deli after a long hike. Walking in, there was a man behind the deli area making the food and a young girl that I now know took the orders. We took the paper menus and started to look over the food. I was excited there were gluten free options. The man was yell talking to the girl about “big groups are stupid and can’t figure out how to order”. My friend walked up and asked the man politely, Is this where I order?” To which the man yelled, “NO YOU ORDER WHERE IT SAYS TO!” So my friend simply says, “okay” and walked to the girl to order. My husband murmured, “well isn’t this a welcome environment.” To which the man yelled again, “WHAT DID YOU SAY!?” I told the guys we needed to eat somewhere else so we folded back up the menus and left. I have NEVER experienced rudeness like that in my life and will NEVER be back.
This is the perfect BBQ place with different food options and gluten-free as well. Their BBQ is very good and have great beer options. We were skiing at Canaan Valley and found this nearby. With wagon wheel chandeliers and whiskey barrel pendant lighting above the bar, it perfectly fit the bill!
This place was delicious! We were there twice of the two days we stayed in the area. The food was fresh, service quick, and there are even plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
