Very good food and atmosphere, a bit overpriced but also a great location. Had quite a few vegetarian options, as well as gluten free buns and pizza bases - the gluten free pizza I had was decent quality.
What a gem👍. The pizzas are amazing. We only stoped as my wife is a vegetarian & gluten intolerant. So happy yo find this place. Four out of six would normally have meat pizzas but we were all super satisfied ❤️
We had the £10 fish and chips and it was absolutely amazing as always. I have a gluten intolerance and the batter on my fish is the best I have ever tasted. The alcohol free gin was very nice
Very tasty food and lots of gluten free options. Portions are not the largest, certainly not the cheapest, but worth the money. Service was very nice. Restaurant is unfriendly. The smoked BBQ burgers are particularly recommended. Fries too weak for my taste and not crispy enough, but they are only side dishes, so it's better to order one more main course.
Really nice venue for a chilled meal out. Good food and a wide range of gluten free options. Our server Katarina was fantastic, very welcoming and attentive.
We randomly chose to dining at Herbie’s because I was looking up the best gluten-free restaurants to eat in Exeter. We were visiting and I have coeliac disease. Herbie’s came up so we made a reservation went out for an early evening stroll before dinner. Just to make sure it was ok - we walked by and it was full and looked adorable. Like a cool, casual but characterful uni restaurant that actually serves healthy food. Well … we weren’t disappointed. The food and service were lovely! We had the cauliflower & balsamic drizzle starter which was delicious. For mains - nachos with their 3 bean chilli (my only complaint is trying to sell the chili as a special separately when it’s always already made for the nachos. BUT they didn’t try to hide it……. Im just questioning how it can be a special when it’s made for the nachos daily? Also had their Buddha bowl and an orange wine which is rarity. We love Herbies! Highly recommend if you’re visiting Exeter and are veggie, vegan or gluten free! Everyone working there was lovely as well.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times with friends, it has always been a lovely experience. The staff are attentive and were understanding of allergies. At busy times I would recommend getting a reservation, but it is not always necessary. As a coeliac, they were able to provide great knowledge of coeliac disease and there was a large range of gluten free options. I had pancakes and have had one of the breakfast, both are very good and I would recommend to coeliacs! My friends, who are not coeliacs, have always enjoyed their food, and the atmosphere of the restaurant in general is lovely, and the prices are good.
Excellent French food in a great location opposite the Cathedral. Very good gluten-free menu. Service is friendly and helpful, but there can be a wait for orders to be taken at times. Depending on where you're sitting, the restaurant can get noisy.
My go-to pizza restaurant in Exeter. Lovely setting with views of the cathedral. They are brilliant at catering for gluten free (Coeliac UK accredited) and service is always great. Wendy (the manager) is fab!
Ordered delivery that turned up 2 hours later. Food was stone cold. No apology and the gluten free base was so rank I couldn’t eat it. First and last time ordering. What a waste of £40 !!
What a gem in Exeter! Authentic Thai cooked by lovely people. Love the wooden furniture and hand painted signs.
Good sized portions at reasonable prices and great gluten free options

I have visited Tortilla before, but this was my first time visiting the Exeter branch. The staff were patient and helpful, and I went around 4pm on a workday and the queue was not large at all. There was a large variety of food, I had the naked burrito and it was nice. There was only one veggie option (vegan chilli), but it was delicious and I would recommend. The naked burrito is gluten free, which was very tasty, and we had no issues finding seats. We used the £5 Monday deal with the app, which worked perfectly, and all me and my friends found our £5 burritos to be great.
Absolutely wonderful food, excellent staff and amazing atmosphere. Has a good range of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options suitable for even the most complex dietary restrictions like myself. Has great wheelchair access with a very roomy interior and excellent wc set up (no bins or other furniture placed in wheelchair transfer space). Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.
Visited today for Gluten free chips to be told they haven’t offered them for a “couple of years now” despite the (knackered looking) 3 foot high sign out side saying “we serve Gluten Free fish & chips every Monday”. Disappointed and a bit puzzled.
Quite possibly the world's most expensive garlic bread...which wasn't even that garlicky!
Almost 3 hours tells a story of how inattentive and prompt the service and food was (it wasn't like the restaurant was full either!).
If you are going to offer a Gluten Free pizza option at least make sure the base doesn't need a chainsaw to cut through it! - a bit stingy on the topping front too while we're talking pizza's!
This was going to be a 2-star review but my partner enjoyed the Monkfish starter & Panna Cotta dessert which apparently rescues a star?!
Approach with caution...
Phenomenal food. Stands up to the hype & exceeded my expectations. The people were delightful, and the food and drink pairings exquisite. Unusual food flavour blends and profiles that work incredibly well, beautifully cooked and presented. Delivered a dining experience worthy of every plaudit - and a gluten free dining experience that surpasses any other I have had.
went to get 4 baguettes and they took the order for all 4 started making them and when they had finished making 3 turn round and said they had no gluten free bread wanted to walk but didn't have much choice as they had made them but upset as my sons girlfriend had to go with out wont get caught out next time will order hers first
Lovely meal out tried the thighs with my favourite lemon and hurb with the garlic bread very nice
Really liked that the manager took the order as a member of the party was gluten free who also really enjoyed there meal
My favourite place to get lunch in Exeter centre...so delicious and healthy. I'm gluten free so have the chicken satay rice box...so good! And staff always friendly
After having takeaway from here and now sitting in, I feel best placed to leave a review that covers everything.
The takeaway is always really well cooked, still hot, and an extra poppadom sneaks in now and again. We've had the takeaway on numerous occasions, and it's always been the best takeaway in Exeter. The food is really tasty, more authentic flavours and stronger spices than some Indians I've tried. But still not too spicy for the English palette.
The quality of food and portion sizes also make it very good value for money.
When I collect our takeaway, the restaurant always looks like a really nice place to be. So my partner and I decided to eat in. It was a really great experience. Don't be put off by being on a busy road. You don't hear it, and it's quieter during dining times anyway.
Somehow, eating in, the food that we thought was the best in Exeter tasted even better. They topped their own food!
It's also great for vegetarians or vegans and gluten intolerant, which our table was. Plenty of choice!
The service was perfect. It's clear the staff enjoy their jobs and work in a nice place as there was a very happy vibe and they were all getting along and enjoying themselves.
When we had our service that positive happiness continued, and the person serving us couldn't have been more friendly and professional.
The hand cleaning wipes magic is worth eating in for alone! You'll see what I mean...
We will definitely be returning to eat in more often.
A sticky start as my daughter who was organising the event (my other daughters Wedding pre celebrations) called when the diet had changed for one of the guests and told a baby couldnt to attend aswell even though she had booked for an "additional" high chair.
Told that 48hrs needed to be given for gluten free diet and that a 5th person (a baby)!! should be reserved so we wouldnt be able to attend. She decided to tell them we wouldnt bring the baby to keep the spot.
However on the day a lovely reception and the staff were wonderful
Even though the baby didnt attend although table was laid up for 5!
Lovely waitress x Lovely memories were made especially for my 5 year old grandaughter x
Worth the service charge just issues before attendance as lady was rude on the phone
A friendly little cafe with welcoming staff. The food exceeded all expectations in both quality and quantity, and all for a very reasonable price.
Highly recommended for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike!
Great choice for gluten free too :)
