This was my favorite place for pizza as we have gluten free and vegitarian needs in our home the last 3 times we have ordered it has gotten worse and worse this being the last time we spent 70 dollars for me my wife and daughter and everything we ordered was just completly terrible sad to say but this place has gone down hill fast
It was our first time here and we had the best experience! They took the time to explain menu and the specials. They have many gluten free options and took time to explain them and they did not make me feel like a bother. All the employees were friendly and accommodating. We felt valued and welcomed. They definitely went above and beyond! Everything we had was DELICIOUS!! We will be returning!
gluten free pizza was delicious and had a nice time playing one of the bored games they had out ( labled that they were for customers to play ) but the server was clearly in a rush to get us out despite the place being completely empty besides us two she gave us the check and boxes wellst we were still eating and checked on us to get the check evey 5 or so minutes. such a shame as the food was lovely and the restaurant was beautiful. edit food ended up giving us both stomach issues.
Tried the gluten free pasta and 5 cheese marinara with grilled chicken. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the chicken was juicy and tender, and our server asked if we wanted the salad without croutons. We had a little problem with an electronic gift card, hopefully will work next time.
Beautiful location near the river in Bangor. The food was amazing even though it was on the moderately expensive side. I swear they put a whole cup of sour cream on the nachos (they were amazing). They also have quite a few gluten free options.
Outdoor seating overlooking the river is available as well.
I really enjoy the curry basil Rangoon, bang bang cauliflower, and pork belly fried rice at The Jade. They are delicious. Since I posted this review, my dietary restrictions have changed, and I am now gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and have a few other restrictions. The staff at The Jade has been incredibly accommodating and even made a note on my account to inform everyone. I appreciate their efforts.
Best gluten free crust hands down. Picture shows how hungry we were vs getting a photo right away. Seriously the crust is thin crispy and no gritty taste!
Gluten Free Friendly!!! Have to say I absolutely loved 3 of the 4 courses. Loved: Tuna tartare squash soup, pear salad, and the chocolate mousse. My entree: Mahi Mahi was good, but bit bland.
I have a gluten allergy. I tried a hot sandwich at Jersey Mike's a few months ago and asked if they would toast the gluten-free bread/roll. They did and the sandwich was amazing! I have been craving it ever since. Our closest location is an hour away. Today we had to go to Bangor and I found out there is a location close to where we would be. Well the enthusiasm ended there because they told me they aren't allowed to toast anything. If you know gluten free bread, you know that it sucks the life out of anything put on it by absorbing the moisture of the other ingredients. Toasting at least slows down the process. No way was I going to pay that much for a sandwich that would fall apart before I ate half of it. I got a salad because we were there and hungry, but this is the last time I will go there. Too bad, they had a really good thing going and corporate put a stop to it. The salad was good but not what I went there for.
Absolutely loved the mocktails options recommended by Justin. Love the fact its locally sourced ingredients and they do have gluten options. We will definitely be back!
Absolutely delicious! As someone who is gluten-free and dairy-free, I love that Umami Noodle Bar offers so many amazing options that fit my diet without compromising on flavor. The variety of spice levels is a game-changer, letting me customize my meal just the way I like it. Not only is the food fresh and healthy, but this is also my go-to spot to work—the internet is fast, there are plenty of outlets, and the atmosphere is perfect for getting things done while enjoying a great meal. If you’re looking for the best gluten-free and dairy-free dining spot in Bangor, this is it! The curry broth with rice noodles is my go to!
If we could give Charity ten stars we would! Awesome service and great food. Felt very safe and they were very accommodating with my gluten allergy. Thank you!
Place is kinda hidden but worth looking for! Amazing sandwiches and they had gluten free selection for my daughter !
Staff was helpful and friendly.
definitely recommend
We had a great supper. This restaurant has been without a GM for quite sometime. The new manager who has worked there prior, is experienced, competent and knows how to address the public in these hard situations. From what I witnessed, she really supports her staff who seem to have been struggling without a GM.
A gluten free issue was resolved super fast.
My place to go for a chicken sandwich. The line moves fast for a busy place and the workers are super nice. Food is consistent and tasty. Downside would be no gluten free options.
Gluten free ... Chicken Parm ..not good. Really spicy and salty. Potatoes equally salty and over cooked..kind of a burnt taste. Waited a very long time to get food. The Cesar salad was barely anything on the plate. Brought it out with croutons... Had to take it back and get new next to nothing salad. Couldn't eat the dinner either as the spiciness and salt prevented me from eating more than a few bites. Server was hardly interested in us or the need for gluten free. Though he was nice when he was around. Won't be back... And am currently hoping I don't get ill from eating where they say they do gluten free well... But proved to me that they don't.
We had dinner last night there. Great food and service. We all were impressed with the menu and specials. I had butternut/apple soup and sliders they served on a gluten free bun. The crew had blackened fish tacos, seafood parmesan linguine, breakfast burger. All top notch! Very gluten friendly.
I have celiac, this is one of the few casual places I can guarantee that they will listen. I come in regularly and they ask if I want my usual. Very friendly and down to earth staff.
For Parents with Allergies/gluten-free in family,
This is a fantastic place to go! They are very transparent in their ingredients and cooking methods. They will even go above and beyond to make sure your allergy needs are met. For example, they notified us that their fries are used in same oil as the chicken. They offered to heat fries in the oven as an alternative method to meet allergy needs!
The manager here is absolutely involved with her restaurant! She has worked every front-of-house role during our visit from hosting to waiting tables. She really cares for her guests and I appreciate a hard working manager.
A very well run restaurant! The food was AMAZING! We had the brisket and half chicken. The brisket was so tender and cooked to perfection. The chicken was moist and flavorful.
Also!!!!! They have an area where the kids can play while the adults can hold a decent conversation (as many parents know what that is like with kids at the table). And also, did I mention, they have an axe throwing area!!! Forget your billards (pool) or dart throwing restaurants. Try throwing an axe at the target!
They also have a decent bar area for those that are looking for a drink after work or out with friends.
You know, I must say, it was hard finding a restaurant that I liked in Bangor, ME. I finally found one and truly enjoy everything about the place. Kind of left me with a nostalgic feeling of what a TRUE AMERICAN restaurant was like before America had taken a turn for the worst these past few years. Will definitely be going back for many years to come God-willing.
We went for our anniversary while on holiday in Maine! This was listed as a good hot spot on Reddit and we were very excited to try it. The host greeted us with a happy anniversary. The server was fantastic and quick to offer help and suggestions.
The menu has lots of options for those in need of gluten free, dairy free, vegan and or vegetarian options which is amazing.
Overall, we were so impressed with our dinner and the service. The staff was so friendly and welcoming.
Everything we’ve had here has been excellent. My favorite is the bacon and blue cheese burger (no bun for glutes free). They are very gluten knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Found this deli on Yelp while traveling through Bangor. Convenient location, VARIED selection of sandwiches, wraps, paninis, soups, and salads. They also offer gluten free bread and wraps. Service was friendly and quick. Sandwiches are pretty big. Parking is available on the street or in the small lot in the back. The chicken salad was delicious! It was spicy, creamy, and unique with jalapeño peppers and red onion. Hubby had the Club. We will definitely stop here again on the way back. Terrific deli!
The textures paired with the flavors was heaven to me. The pork katsu in the katsu don was light and perfectly crunchy. The Spicy salmon hand roll was delicious as well. The miso soup and the house salad were pleasant to the taste buds and my stomach. One of us in our party was gluten free(celiac) and they even asked us if we were okay with msg in the food. I have NEVER been to a restaurant and they asked about msg. The atmosphere was relaxing during our meal and staff was a joy to speak with and be served by. 20/10 would go again when we visit Bangor. It's even right down the street from Wildwoods!
Our meal of steak, baked potato, and steamed vegetables was tender and flavorful. An excellent meal made even better by Mel our knowledgeable, personable, and efficient server. We went back for a breakfast of eggs, ham, and home fries and another visit wirh Mel. FYI, if you need gluten free, she is also well versed in safe options.
