I’ve been gluten-free for over a decade, and now our 6-year-old is too—which makes finding kid-friendly GF food a real challenge. We’re from Florida and were driving to New Orleans when my husband discovered Guncles. He was so excited about it that we planned our overnight stop just so we could eat there—and wow, was it worth it!
When I say it was the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, I’m not exaggerating. We also grabbed some goodies to take with us: the cheddar biscuits (amazing!), the chocolate and spiced fig cake (so delicious), chocolate chip cookies (I want to buy more to give as gifts!), and their regular biscuits—which totally hit the spot.
I was so impressed. But beyond the incredible food, the owners and staff were kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare to find a place with both outstanding gluten-free treats and such heart behind it.
It was so good, we’re actually trying to swing by again today before they close to grab more to take home for ourselves and our friends!
If you’re looking for great gluten free food, this place is where it’s at! Their pizza is so good! It’s a beautiful place and at a great price. Can’t wait to go back.
We absolutely love Mellow! Never a bad experience and the food is always top notch! I have celiac and it’s one of the few places where I can eat safely and actually enjoy the food too! Their gluten free pizza is the best I’ve had at any restaurant
This place is the best. In addition to the great food, service, and atmosphere, they also have gluten-free pizza, gluten-free beer, and patio seating for our big yellow lab.
I love the classic diner feel, and Metro delivered on this experience. Mary was an excellent waitress with southern charm and very caring.
I had their infamous chicken and waffles with strawberry butter and sweet and spicy sauce, and it was fantastic. The waffles with syrup drizzled on top were soft and melted in my mouth. The chicken paired with the sweet and spicy sauce was near perfection.
My girlfriend got the BBQ Bacon Burger, a side of hash browns, and apple cobbler without ice cream.
This place is super accommodating to people who can't have gluten or dairy, they even have a specifically gluten-free menu.
The price for our food was just over 40 dollars for the two of us. It's a bit pricey but worth it.
I'd recommend this place for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner needs (they even have breakfast all day for my fellow "breakfast for dinner" lovers).
First night in town from out of state. We placed our order at 7:02. Our pick up time showed 8:07. When we got there to pick up they told us 35 more minutes. We finally got our food at 8:50. Even then, they had to modify our order or told us to wait 7 more minutes for another part of the order to be done.
As far as the food goes… the pizza was good. They had a gluten free option and that was good as well. We also ordered chicken fettuccine Alfredo and we were given chicken and noodles? I’m not sure if that’s just there fettuccine or if this was a mistake.
My problem is not with waiting. My problem is not being given any kind of an accurate time and then doing nothing to make the situation right or compensate. I’ve seen the restaurant respond on here and say sorry for the same issue from other reviewer. I think it’s time to do better.
Fantastic food, amazing waitress, gluten free menu with a great selection. I had the Floridian Omelette with real crab. Very rich but amazing. The cheesy grits are just grits with cheese on top but excellent food for the price! Highly recommend
Local pizza place with great flavor and reasonable prices. The gluten free crust is fantastic and I felt fine afterwards, so that's worth ten stars to me! They close a little earlier than some of the other nearby eateries so check their hours if you're on vacation time...
Our server, Katie, was awesome and the food was great. I am allergic to gluten and she made sure my food was safe. And the gluten free brownie was delicious.
Every time I'm near here, I make a stop. Great place to get a meal, and to pick up gluten free items, produce, meats, cheeses, soaps, and candles. The soft-serve peanut butter ice cream is so good! The turkey club with cranberry jam and sliced Granny Smith apples is amazing!
Great, as always. Really enjoyed their gluten-free pizza. Didn't have a reaction at all, not even a little, which is a first, even for gluten-free pizza.
They do not have a gluten-free menu, but they are knowledgeable about gluten and cross-contamination and are able to adapt many items on their menu to suit.
I had the shrimp & grits and it was phenomenal. My partner went with the pork chops and thought they were perfect.
Our server was pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was prompt.
The atmosphere was a little bare bones/stark/cold, but it was fine.
I called needing a gluten free cake. I was so worried and the staff was so informative and just answered all my questions and made me feel so at ease. Pick up was thorough, right down how to transfer, store and cut the cake. I would recommend 100x over if you need gluten free. They don't do specialty decorating on their naked cakes but I bought some figurines for the cake and greenery to add myself and it was perfect. I had the chocolate naked cake and it was delicious, you can't even tell the difference and it was moist and just to die for. If I could give it 10stars I would.
I do takeout just about every week! They will bring it out to your car as well. Salad sampler and garlic chicken along with local kombucha is my favorite!!!!! All gluten free if you get rice as your option with the chicken. Just do it!
I was looking for some gluten free options for lunch and stumbled upon this place. At first I was skeptical it was GF because sometimes when I search GF it does not always come out that way- however, I called and placed a pickup order and got the banana nutella. She assured me it was gluten free and was very kind. It was SOOO AMAZING. More places need to be more gluten free and it’s nice this place is!!
This is going to be my new favorite spot.
Love that I can gluten free foods and with more variety than anywhere else. Food is delicious. And that I can even ha e a dessert is a bonus!! Highly recommend!
Terrible! After ordering a gluten free pizza (I have celiac disease) we waited almost an hour and was finally told they were out of gluten free crust. If we were told this when we ordered we could have gone somewhere else. We were traveling on I85 when we detoured to Bibb Street BECAUSE they advertised gluten free.
NOT GLUTEN FREE!
This place is on the lower side of mediocre. The store is dirty. The windows were disgusting, and the sneeze shield hasn't been cleaned in months.
If you're gluten free due to celiac or other medical conditions, do not eat here. The cross contamination is very heavy.
The pizza tasted good, but the service was pretty horrible. The slices were cut extremely uneven which demonstrates a lack of care for the product.
We simply asked Google's Gemini for a place in Mobile that has good gluten-free options. We drove up from Orange Beach for the day because it was Misty and overcast. This is a quaint little restaurant in downtown Mobile that has good gluten-free choices and really good service. They don't have a specific gluten-free menu but they know how to make accommodations. The best gluten-free hamburger bun we've ever eaten in 15 years of being gluten free.
If I could give it more stars I would, came here on a Sunday evening to pretty much nobody there, the food was incredible and came within less than 10 minutes of ordering! The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful! They also have gluten free fried pickles which are heaven on earth
Overall the food was great and atmosphere was nice. Our server, Kenzie, was super friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful when trying to modify for gluten allergies.
Our favorite place in town. They can gluten free the fried things for my parents and offer lots of sides to my children’s delight. Love every staff member I’ve ever encountered and that’s at least a dozen. Sweet people and great food.
This may be the best coffee in Huntsville! I used to stop at Honest in Nashville and was thrilled when they opened one up in my hometown. This is high quality coffee that I only take away the star for how expensive it is, and the charge for a non-dairy milk.
As someone with dairy sensitivity and a husband with a severe dairy allergy, it is frustrating when places that are already pricy charge extra for something you cannot go without.
Other than that, the vibe here is so cozy and is always busy. I love that they also carry some Mason Dixon gluten free pastries!
While I can’t afford it daily, this is always a fun stop when I want a special coffee.
I recently visited Another Broken Egg Cafe in Huntsville, AL, and I was thoroughly impressed! As a vegetarian, it can be challenging to find good options when dining out, but this restaurant exceeds the expectation. They have an entire vegetarian menu, and they’re very accommodating about making adjustments to items on the regular menu as needed. They also have a gluten free menu.
We went early on a Sunday morning, before the crowd that often comes prior to church services. The place was quiet and peaceful, which made for a very enjoyable dining experience.
I ordered the Southwest Scramble, removed the meat, and added spinach and mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious! To enhance the flavor, I requested sour cream and hot sauce, which were the perfect finishing touches. The breakfast potatoes were a standout—perfectly crisp and wonderfully seasoned.
As someone who loves lemon in my water, I was thrilled when my waitress brought me plenty, just as I requested. She was very attentive, promptly refilling our drinks and water throughout the meal.
There was a small mix-up when someone at our table ordered an item not realizing it included bacon. The mistake wasn’t the waitress’s fault—it was ordered incorrectly—but she still apologized sincerely and replaced the dish quickly without any hassle.
While the food and service were fantastic, it’s worth noting that the meal was a bit on the expensive side, costing about $20 per person. However, the quality of the food and the excellent service made it a special occasion option.
Another Broken Egg Cafe is a great spot for a delicious breakfast or brunch, especially if you’re looking for vegetarian-friendly options.
My server Dani was absolutely amazing! So kind and so helpful throughout the night. Always willing to get what ever I needed! And the food was amazing, I recommended bowls and the gluten free pazookie. A great night
Had a great experience ordering gluten free. Had a gluten free menu with lots of options. Server talked me through the process of how they cook it gluten free.
This isn’t entirely The Hound’s fault but, I informed the waiter that I have a gluten intolerance and I ordered a burger on gluten free bread with tater tots. She didn’t inform me that the tater tots weren’t gluten free, I was sick for the next two days because of this. They were good but, I feel like she should’ve let me know that.
This place is exceptional! For a careful eater like myself, Tina made it so easy to substitute the gluten & dairy free preferences. The food was delicious. I had a phenomenal lunch.
