This is my favorite restaurant in Louisville across all categories.
Atmosphere: Many restaurants play jacked up music and I can't wait to leave. As soon as I walk into Shalimar I relax. The Indian sitar accompanied music is so pleasant. Even though this is a popular restaurant I've never had to wait for seating, as seating is abundant. The restaurant is clean. The environment is just so peaceful.
Service - My family and I have eaten here about 40 times. The service has always been attentive without being over-solicitous.
Food - Consistently good every time. We have vegetarians and non-vegetarians in the family. Both are well served. Some of us are gluten free and no dairy and find abundant choices.
This vibrant Indian restaurant features a futuristic touch with robot servers enhancing the dining experience. Guests enjoy a pleasant atmosphere enriched by music and decor, making it an inviting spot with excellent gluten-free choices and attentive service for all diners.

Hyderabadhouse in Middletown, Ky was a real treat. The restaurant was clean, the portions were large and the staff was very friendly. What more could you want on a night out for dinner?
We started out with the Goat Sukka (BONE IN). The goat cubes were large and pan-fired with onions, curry leaves (of course), and spices. This was the first time my wife and I tried goat. It was delicious!
My wife ordered and enjoyed the Gutti Vankay Biryani eggplant. It arrived with a heaping amount of Basmati rice seasoned with cilantro, onion slices, spices, and most likely saffron. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Kebabs which were boneless pieces of chicken marinated in yogurt. The chicken was cooked with fresh spices on skewers in a clay oven. There were also slices of green peppers, onions, and turnips on a streaming cast iron sizzle platter. The skewers were removed before the chicken arrived at our table. Like everything else, the portions of chicken were large and very tasty.
Our bread selection was the Garlic Naans which was a flat white bread. The bread was sprinkled with garlic and cilantro and baked in a clay oven. All of our items arrived with various sauces.
The restaurant offered both vegan and gluten-free items. There was a modest selection of alcoholic beverages available. The parking was ample and carry out is available. You will need take-home boxes for sure. I don't give five stars often, but the Hyderabadhouse in Middletown, Ky earns one here. Enjoy!

A friend and I decided on a whim to eat here. She had never had East Indian food and I loved the fact it was a vegetarian menu. The food was absolutely delicious, and we liked the no frills atmosphere. The portions were ample and we felt the prices were right for the quality and quantity of food served.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of our visit was after our meal. A womyn who worked there (orgot her name 😞) approached us and asked for suggestions on how to improve the customer experience! Wow! That is a first! We suggested not using Styrofoam and identifying various menu items as gluten-free, etc. We are both gluten intolerant. It was refreshing to see a business so keen on customer feedback.
We will be visiting again for sure!
