Love it here. It’s so cozy. Lots of their little treats and baked goods are gluten free and I believe they are all vegan. Their brunch menu is good too! Very generous portions. They always play the perfect cozy calm music, you can reserve a table which I would recommend doing on the weekends. I’m the warmer months they have some patio tables out on the sidewalk to watch all the Locke street dogs walking by. The banana bread is 20/10. I also love their matcha oat latte with strawberry syrup.
We used to come here all the time - and it was great. Then last year we went and I noticed the gluten free pizza did not taste the same as it had. Took a break from Caro, then decided to give it another go, and it is disgusting. The gluten free dough *was* the best in the city (I’ve been gluten free for 10 years and tried many places), and it appears they changed the dough. Not sure why they would change it because the last 2 times it has been horrible. Couldn’t even finish a slice. Very disappointing! Will not be returning, and I no longer will be recommending Caro as a gluten free option
decided to go to Caro
for a gluten free pizza tonight . server came to tell us they were out of at
least 3 items on the menu and many types of drinks
then waited to order -crickets
waited 20 min … no one took our order
we left … terrible service
sorry not sorry
The atmosphere is fine, not very high end but not a pub. Service is good, the server didn't stand out in anyway but I was part of a large group of 12/13 so it can be a lot for a server. I had calamari to start, and it was excellent, super tender and the batter was light and crisp. The mussels in beer sauce, which were a tad overcooked, the mussels were quite small, and the sauce was extremely salty, normally I drink up all the broth/sauce from mussels and I couldn't with these. I also had a gluten free pizza, traditional, with garlic. I've had worse gluten free crusts, and I've had better. The toppings were more like a delivery pizza place than what I'd expect from a traditional Italian restaurant. I ordered a bourbon old fashioned, and I don't think they knew how to make it because I just got a rocks glass of bourbon, ice and an orange peel lol.
I was looking at the other things the rest of the group were getting, I wasn't super impressed, the carbonara looked too thick and chunky, the garden salads were heavy on iceberg and light on every thing else. I just think with the prices it should have been a little better.
I've gone to east side Mario's and had equal/better for less.
Every meal at The Express is amazing! They have delicious food, gluten free options, and are absolutely hands down my favourite neighbourhood restaurant! Always friendly, accommodating and will go the extra mile to make sure your experience is top notch. I highly recommend that you get over there for lunch or dinner and get yourself a grilled vegetable salad (with chicken if you eat that!)!
By far the best pasta restaurant ever! I have been going for over 15 years, and the food is always exceptional! The service is above par, and you are treated like royalty. The restaurant is small, but very clean and intimate. My husband has a gluten allergy which they accommodate. I live over an hour away but am happy to make the trip! Be sure to make a reservation, you will not be disappointed!
I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this place. I’m celiac so I need gluten free options and I’m always looking for new places. My husband and I ordered 3 appies which were all amazing - they don’t normally offer GF bruschetta but they made it work with pizza crust and it was amazing. Our entrees were amazing also. The server was so accommodating and didn’t mind when he had to ask the kitchen about modifications or whether something was GF. I guess the only Cons for me were that there were no GF desserts (not uncommon to be fair) and their menu didn’t include any indication of which items were GF or could be GF. Overall I thought this place was amazing and I will be going back for sure.
We first ate at Baci in 2021 when only room service was available. It was a great experience and the food was really good. So for my birthday we came back so we could eat in the restaurant. My wife had the cod ( gluten free) and it was terrific. I had the Bolognese which was also very tasty but large enough that I am looking forward to having it again tonight at home!!
I should add that the service was also outstanding.
Ordered pizza from here for the family. It was delicious. I like that the pizza is not too saucy, the crust if fluffy and the toppings were abundant. I also love that they offer a gluten free option as well, it really made it easy to have the whole family involved in the pizza night! 10/10 would go again
Red Door catered a pizza party for us- our guests were greeted by the
Wood burning pizza oven Dave set up in our driveway. First up out were the gluten free pizzas- a delicious thin rice dough . Then Giovanni set to work- spinning his fresh dough into perfect pizzas, with a variety of delicious toppings- and they kept coming, easily the best pizza in the Golden Horseshoe, beautiful presentation- and a lot of fun.
Thank you for a great evening!
Gluten free pizza is really good, and sized correctly. Other places have very small GF pizzas, but these ones are medium sized and reasonably priced. I also like that they now have a few grocery items that you can buy with your order. I got a couple heads of lettuce to make my own salad and some really good marinated olives.
Warning, if you order dairy free pizza they will automatically give you gluten free crust without asking :( It looked and tasted like cardboard. The customer service to fix the error was even more terrible. Even after sending a photo, still wasn’t corrected. We’re still hungry…save the trouble, eat elsewhere!
Truly this is one of my FAVOURITE places as someone who is celiac. Completely aware staff, have celiac-safe pizza truly taking proper precautions and have a gluten free pasta option. It is truly a wonderful experience every time and going here feels like home!🍝
Ok. Martello - whoever you are. You cook the best food!!! I have two enemies in this world, the sun and gluten. I was super impressed with how diverse your menu is! Lots of gluten free options. Everything I had tasted awesome too :)
It was very good and they have lowered their standards. I was not impressed with the pasta this time around. The decor is very very dated. They have really no idea how to cater to gluten free people and have no knowledge really of it.

Such a delicious spot to eat on Locke! Would 100% be back again. Service was quick but not too quick that you felt rushed by any means. We were there for probably 2 hours with another couple. The cesare salad was one of the best I’ve ever had, the arancini dish (although we thought this was priced very high for an arancini app compared to other restaurants) was amazing and worth it. My husband had the pepperoni pizza and I had the Tagliatelle Al tartufo pasta with gluten free penne, both were excellent dishes cooked perfect with so much flavour. It’s a great spot for a date night or with friends. The only issue is trying to find parking but that’s a common issue for anywhere on Locke, especially at dinner time on a Saturday. You just need to plan accordingly if potentially parking a bit further away and walking isn’t for you.
