First time here today and I'm blown away by the food and service. 10/10 for the Gluten free, Dairy free variety of food they have. Nice, cosy and tucked away slightly outside of Havelock city center. I never felt so good after having so much food!! Must visit specially for the gf,DF, v options and a variety of fig products!
Food was delicious and the staff were very aware of coeliac and cross contamination. I had no reaction to the food and it was one of the best GF sandwiches Iβve ever had. It wasnβt a dedicated kitchen but they were very careful with preparing the meal and making sure there was no cross contamination.
'The Columbus' is the best breakfast by far we have found in Hastings - two can share easily if you add a side - the chef really does excellent Haloumi. Keto, gluten-free and dairy-free are well catered for. The venue seems pretty wheelchair accessible too.
A local, love the ethos however twice now have had a GF scone resulting in a gluten reaction. Contamination somewhere in the process? Cannot be contributed to anything else as deliberately tested on the second occasion. Wont risk it again :-(
Delectable Havana coffee. The barista knows what heβs doing as itβs hard to get a good long black these days.
The gluten free carrot cake is the best Iβve ever had. Outstanding. Better than any other including gluten free speciality places in Wellington.
I canβt wait to return with more time to indulge.
The staff were very careful with our order, we had a coeliac and a lactose intolerant. Unfortunately one of our party had forgotten their mask, and a member of staff offered to get them a spare. Which was very kind. We also enjoyed the burgers alot too. Will definitely come again.
A local recommended the Paper Mulberry for lunch and I'm so glad they did.
Great cottage-style decor featuring local arts and produce, we had a delicious lunch. Also available is a variety of slices, pies and sandwiches. Generous servings.delicious food, friendly service, plenty of gluten-free options.
Had dinner here recently and was pleasantly surprised by the creative and interesting selection of burgers on the menu. They cater well to different dietary needs, with solid gluten-free and vegan options available, which was great to see.
The food itself was deliciousβflavorful, satisfying, and served in good portion sizes. Pricing was reasonable for the quality, making it a good value overall.
The only downside was the atmosphere. The music was unusually loud for a dinner setting, more reminiscent of a rave than a restaurant. It made conversation difficult and took away from what could have been a more relaxed dining experience.
Very industrial-looking which makes it appear a bit βcoldβ but food is good and so is the coffee. Smashed avocado and Eggs Benedict both available as a gluten free option and proportions were huge!
Fish was nicely pan-fried. To many chips for a lunch meal but great if hungery, the salad had a nice light dressing. Good selection of gluten free options. Large range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.
Went for a dinner with gluten free friends, we ordered drinks and four mains to share. Amazed that all but two of the options on the menu were gluten free. Food came out almost instantly and the flavours were incredible. We couldnβt even pick a favourite, they were all amazing. A bit disappointed we couldnβt try dessert as we were too full. Something to look forward to next time. Wait staff were attentive and friendly.
Catered for our allergies and Needs perfectly. I often avoid dining out due to being gluten free and my son With Egg/peanut allergies. But Alistar and Alana both put our minds at Ease. Absolutely beautiful meal that was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be back when we visit again from the Waikato. John and Nikki May π
Stopped by for brunch at this cafe in Napier. The cafe was busy which is a good sign. The service was fast & friendly, and the food was very good including both sweet & savoury cabinet options for gluten free. A menu is available but we bought food from the cabinet, so can't comment on that except to say that the soup seemed popular as they sold out of both options.
Had our sons wedding 60 guests on saturday 4 pm on .
Food was great , everything they served was delicious .
Staff were helpful nothing was a bother.
There were quite a few ceoliac ( gluten free) and they were more than happy with food too and no one was unwell the next day .
Couldn't speak more highly of food .venue etc
Super friendly staff and great outside seating.
Itβs hard to find a place where you can make sure you can eat there if you are gluten-free or celiac.
But the Gintrap has heaps of glutenfree options available. As we asked the friendly waitress, she told us all about the glutenfree things. Some things are also got offered to be made celiac, she just mentioned that they canβt do the fried stuff celiac cause everything is fried in the same fryer.
We ended up ordering a glutenfree pizza and a glutenfree burger and both of the meals were absolutely stunning.
Glad we found this delectable cafe before we left town. Out of everywhere we visited this week this one's was the best.
Coffee was delicious , eggs Benedict with salmon and the big breakfast. Staff were attentive and the atmosphere was perfect. Loved bring by the seaside and how modern this cafe is. Definitely recommend a visit.
My sidekick said the gluten free bread was the best heβs ever tasted. Itβs made on site and looks delicious!

Fast service, good selection of flavours plus lots of gluten and dairy free options for those that prefer or need it. Friendly staff, nice ambiance and shop design.
Amazing wood fired pizzas! So delish. Highly recommend the gluten free vege lasagne. Lovely atmosphere, staff make sure you are comfortable and cosy on cold nights with heating and blankets if outdoors. Top service, highly recommend.
Just returned home replete from an absolutely delicious lunch enjoyed on the verandah in balmy weather at the Birdwoods Cafe in Havelock North, Hawkes Bay. Two of us ordered the pork belly on potato rosti which was both meltingly tender inside but crisp and crunchy on the outside and two had the Birdwoods pie which were bursting with succulent beef. There was no plate envy on this occasion. Our desserts were the moist gluten free chocolate brownie, a chocolate mousse and the rhubarb cake. So so delicious because they tasted authentic as real food should.
Thank you for your very personal table service, beautiful grounds
and elegant venue - it is so much more than one expects a Cafe to be.

Went there on a public holiday. No booking for lunch. 8 people. The place was busy. They offered us a place in the garden but said we would be a bit cramped around the table. I all worked out and we had a great time there. Almost all ordered the fish and chips at $32 a plate! Wow was it worth it! Everyone said it was the best fish and chips thy had in ages. Very generous portions of fish. Thy even did a gluten and dairy free plate too. No issues. Probably should have shared the plates, but everything was finished. We had a great white wine with our meal but I must admit I forgot witch one. Paid the 15% surcharge without any issues. Hope to go back again.
Excellent service from a well informed team member, sorry I didnβt catch her name lovely well spoken lady. Informed us of the gluten free options.
The fish of the day was delicious so Iβm told! I chose the lamb rump,, cooked just right with eggplant & peas,,, who would have thought that this would taste so good. Thanks very much. We will be back next time weβre in town
The gluten free kebab is actually good! The gluten free wrap they use holds up well and feels like normal.
The food itself is better than anywhere else in town. I highly recommend the place for either food or vibe
Had a very pleasant coffee experience here in the past. This time came with Dad for afternoon tea. I am neither gluten averse nor vegan, but their Carrot Cake offering for those that are was most excellent. Lots of that nutty carrot cake texture, and a well balanced flavour. Perhaps if the otherwise excellent icing was slightly less sweet? The Booster smoothie was top tier, and something I'd happily order again. The great taste while still containing Spinach meant I felt healthier with every delicious sip.
My Father gave the veggie quiche an impressive 8/10, which is extreme praise from a man who can complain about anything. When pushed to elaborate, he stated "it was very nice". High praise indeed. We'll be back.
Lots of outdoor seating, lots of pies my mince and cheese pie was very good, and had some gluten free sandwiches. Has a milk bar feel about it rather than a cost cafe.
I love Sazio! Great service with a friendly, personal touch, and the food uses the best local produce to offer delicious food that changes seasonally. Good gluten free options too!
I have coeliac disease and never find anything gluten free to take away that is both unique and delicious...anywhere.
I stopped in briefly on our way South from Gisborne and found your curried cauli tart....I enjoyed it immensly!
Not only was it yummy, the GF pastry was beautiful and the pepitas on top finished it off.
Congrats and regards,

Great spot to sit outside with friends in the large shady yard. Good selection of gluten free food, and dog friendly as well. Looking forward to coming back next time we're in Napier.
Amazing experience at Piku last night as we always do, food was delicious and came out very quickly! Would highly recommend, the Gluten Free options are amazing and taste just as incredible
I am a gluten free and dairy free eater and they worked to accommodate my strange eating habits. Yummmmeeee salad provided. Thanks so much for looking out for those of us who are picky eaters.
