This was our favorite restaurant in all of Southern Africa! My husband and I ordered almost every entree on the vegan menu (11 dishes), including their 3 course set menu with 3 sides (we're foodies!). Every single one was delicious and made with fresh, healthy ingredients. My favorite was the Defin Misir Alicha - a brown lentil dish. I am going to try to find a recipe to make it back home in America! My husband raved about every dish that was seasoned with Berbere. He ordered a cocktail (the Spice Ethiopian Tosgne) which he still talks about because it was so good (and he's very picky about his cocktails, since he's an unofficial expert mixologist). The service was exceptional. Our waiter (Linga?) was friendly and cheerful, prompt, personable, and respectful. The brief interactions we had with other waiters (and I think the owner) were all remarkably friendly. Our courses felt perfectly timed - neither rushed nor tardy. Our waiter even noticed that after the sun set, there were some mosquitoes near our outdoor table (we hadn't noticed) and was thoughtful enough to bring out some burning frankincense to repel them. It worked and smelled great! Everything looked and felt clean. The tables, chairs, plates, and decor all crafted an atmosphere that felt authentic, pleasant, and not overdone. They had so many options that we'd be comfortable bringing people there with all kinds of different needs - people who don't like spice or love spice, vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, dairy-free, whatever. It's very accommodating.

I've been going to Babette's for more than 2 years and I'm simply in love with their new space at the Sprig Wellness Centre! It's so beautiful, calm and relaxing! I have had almost every dish on Babette's menu and I love that it is healthy, farm to table style meals without any nasty ingredients. Fran, the owner is absolutely divine and always share such nice foodie tips with me when we visit! Highly recommend the gluten free, refined sugar free cheesecake and their halloumi salad - my absolute go-to's!

Having a gluten allergy I was super happy to find this place, as they have lots of GF options and seemed to take it seriously (not always the case in CT). Ordered online and selected GF option for both bread and flapjack. I also wrote a brief note in my order re the allergy. Food arrived and the bread wasn’t GF but only realised after a couple of bites. Long story short - food was nice but because of their slack outlook on GF (nothing was done regarding this) I couldn’t feel safe eating at this restaurant again. If you too have an allergy or intolerance, be mindful when ordering.

I found their menu limited. No gluten free designed meals as such. It was remove bun off a burger or remove dressing to make it gluten free. Staff were super helpful and stunning views.

Lazari – A little café with a big heart Lazari is one of those places that makes you feel instantly welcome – whether you're a local or just passing by. This morning, I met my sportgrouo friends there for a wholesome vegan breakfast: gluten-free Bircher muesli with dry coconut, blueberries and apples, a fresh carrot juice, a fiery ginger shot, and a warm, comforting cup of mesquite – now my favourite caffeine-free café-style drink. Usually, I’m not vegan, but with a retreat coming up tomorrow, I wanted to skip animal products – and this breakfast was just perfect to feel light and a little detoxed. And I normally don’t like almond milk, but here it was surprisingly delicious – smooth and satisfying. With its mix of small, cosy tables and larger ones for lively gatherings, Lazari offers space for connection and calm alike. And at the heart of it all is Linda, Michelle and her team who brings soul and sparkle to this beloved neighbourhood spot. I’ll definitely be back – to savour more flavours, support this sweet buzzing hub, and soak in the friendly, feel-good vibe.

The food is some of the best I have ever had. we shared 2 lots of tacos & each had the brisket that melted in your mouth. I truly haven't had food quite like it before. The price is extremely valuable for the quality & location. The staff were exceptional, very kind & very knowledgeable. My friend is gluten-free and had plenty of great options available.

The dinner was excellent! They were very considerate and served us very tasty dishes with our gluten-free and diabetics / low carb restrictions... so we came again the next day for another excellent dinner! The best ice cream cakes and waffles. I can’t eat dairy or gluten and Andrew made me my own little ice cream cassata cake for Christmas to accommodate my diet and it was delicious. Great attention to detail, amazing flavours and excellent service. Unfortunately, I lost my phone along with my photos.

Had a really nice glutenfree pizza there for lunch. Got served super fast. Our waiter Lucy was amazing with my toddler and he got his own pizza dough to make his own pizza bread, which they then baked for him. Can recommend 100%. Thaaaaanks !

We were 4 diners. My daughter has Celiac disease so we specifically went to Maria’s because they advertised gluten free food. The food was amazingly good! But the manager was rude and abrasive, very dismissive when we asked for assurance that the food was prepared separately. When we got our starters, her gluten free starter was placed next to pita bread that was NOT gluten free, thus contaminating her food. When we pointed this out to the manager, he simply shrugged and left. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. And also apologetic about another table that was very loud, causing us to not stay for dessert because the noise level was simply too high! The only down side about the food was the baklava fingers we ordered as take away. They were vile! Tasted only of cinnamon. I’m Greek so I know how they should taste. Very disappointing dessert, don’t order that!

Had high expectations that sadly weren’t met. The service really wasn’t great (not listening when taking our order, forgetting what we’d ordered and coming back, missing bits of courses, dropping dirty cutlery (understandable) and then not cleaning up the mess after, not taking deposit off the bill etc). My husband is gluten free, and we totally understand it’s not as recognised in SA, but this was the worst example we’ve had in the country. Food was average, sadly nothing to get excited about - or enough to make up for the service!
