Duke Fine Foods | European Delicatessen Store

Duke Fine Foods has a great variety of Eastern European foods. Nice to have a store like this in Ottawa, as it reminds me of the old Budapest Deli in Byward Market, the Eurodeli on Merivale, and the Polish store on Richmond Road, all long gone now. The Duke's specialties are the wide assortment of meats from familiar brands (Sikorski, Piller), and specialty brands (Don José), cheeses, smoked fish (salmon, trout, sturgeon), tons of preserves, jams, sweets, bread (fresh from Montreal), pierogies, specialty diary products, and their homemade desserts which they'll take orders for gluten-free options. Most of the items are Polish origin, but they also have goods from Ukraine to Germany to Hungary. They also have a sandwich and espresso bar, but they weren't making any sandwiches the day I visited, so that will be in a future post. The staff are knowledgeable, and a good place to practice your Polish. With so much variety in the store, you'll no doubt leave with something extra special.
