Great food! Caters to gluten and dairy free. I got carnitas en adobo, and chips and salsa. Patrons order online, either at the restaurant entrance or at a table.
You know it’s a classic spot. Gluten free bun was great! I did end up getting sick so there was some cross contamination, which is to be expected given how small the kitchen is - just be prepared!

This was the first time I had been there. We ordered the veggie /meat sampler with gluten free injera. Everything was delicious. The only part I don't enjoy was one of the meat dishes had a lot of fat/grizzle I had to spit out. I will only order the vegetarian one next time. I also had the avacado smoothie. It was kind of bland, but OK ..tasted like diluted avacado with a little sugar. I mostly ordered it to help coat my throat, since some of the food is spicy.
I have been going to the highland grill for over 10 years and it is truly one of the best places in the twin cities. I also recently went gluten free and there menu is well labeled with regards to dietary guidelines 😊
Arrived as a girl, left as a woman. A changed woman. Amazing iced latte. I’m always scared of getting vanilla lattes from these “craft coffee shops” because it seems these days they want to be all “cool different full of dirt and grit” about everything (you know what I mean!!) but not here. Just damn good coffee and I appreciate that. It’s cute inside, spacious, comfortable and clean which is a plus. All the employees were super friendly each visit (I’ve only been 3x and each time like the last - a treat!) and seemed like they genuinely were happy. So that’s a plus, or they’re all great actors destined for greatness! Bakery items top tier with gluten free options for the celiac cuties which is always a plus in my book! Parking is kind of scary so plan to bike or walk in if possible, if you’re not local that’s okay, you’ll survive.
Love eating here. This was an old family favorite growing up and even with updates over the years this place always hits the spot. Perfect portions for days you are super hungry, and for the days you need smaller portions (the specials are amazing)
As someone who struggles with dietary issues (Celiac, and autoimmune GI issues) I love coming here knowing I won't get sick. -but my husband, who can eat anything, is a fiend for the caramel rolls and cinnamon rolls
A favorite place to brunch with my mom ❤️
I can't stop talking about this place. It's grab and go, heat and serve... AND SO GOOD. Very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Many vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options. They even have vegan queso and chorizo. The atmosphere is like nowhere I've ever been. This is a very welcoming environment. I was helped by a staff member named Atzin and they were awesome, I had called with a lot of questions and they patient and knowledgeable. They were able to give me additional guidance and recommendations when I was in the store.
Okay but the food.
So I've been gluten free for over ten years and usually I feel like the food I get is -missing something-. Not here. Food is so flavorful. I can't get enough of the queso poblano! I might also be newly addicted to the cilantro salsa.
Had a great time! Lanchi was very nice and went out of her way to make sure we had a gluten free option even though they had run out of gluten free noodles. (Mac and cheese with rice noodles is pretty good!!) we will be going back again!
