The food was awesome! And Henry is the man! His recommendations were the selections that I went with and he took care of me with regard to my gluten allergy. I went with the red fish and it was so good. It was the perfect end to my 60th birthday celebration in the Big Easy.
You’d likely never know this adorable, plant-filled space on a block bearing a street name no one knows (that feels more like an alley) could be the best thing to happen to your week. Located directly across from one of the two U.S. Court of Appeals loading docks, this oasis quickly transports the diner to a country they may have never visited and may now want to visit immediately.
This isn’t that “Mexican” place you have in your hometown that mostly serves to pacify the American palate. That isn’t to say it will feel unfamiliar or awkward; you may just realize excessive grease and cheese aren’t required for enjoyment of every item.
With the exception of tortas (sandwiches) and a couple of desserts, everything is gluten-free. Not just in the “no-gluten-containing-ingredients” way you may find many places, but instead it’s an environment where staff are trained on cross-contamination (and where they have a dedicated frier). There are also numerous vegetarian and vegan options.
Happy hour is 3-6 weekdays, and you’ll definitely leave happier. Then again, that’s kinda guaranteed anytime you visit.
Do yourself a flavor 😉 and walk right on over from the streetcar or even the French Quarter. Should you take the ferry over here from Algiers? Well, I sure won’t discourage it!
Come hungry, thirsty, and ready for your life (or at least taste buds) to be improved.
The food was very tasty with good sized portions -- I had the cheese enchiladas and my partner had the street tacos in jerk chicken and adobo. The jerk chicken was incredible. The music was super loud, which I wasn't a fan of, and the servers were laid back, which I don't mind but some people don't like. There were a lot of drink specials and an abundance of vegetarian options on the menu, and eating gluten free was very easy. We'll definitely be back.
Just had a wonderful lunch. Chicken and mushroom tacos are delicious. It is very accommodating for gluten-free, and my yellow Labrador enjoyed a few dog biscuits from our waiter:)))
Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon right after they opened for brunch. Nice cute decor, clean place... We were the first ones there, but it quickly filled up. Popular place, I guess.
We were greeted warmly and ordered some drinks. Bloody Mary was spicy and good. The mimosas were tasty.
THE FOOD:
I had the slow roasted pulled pork burrito with vegetable potato hash, black beans, cilantro and cheeses. It's topped off with poblano sauce and more melted cheese.
It was really good. I enjoyed it.
The girl who would be my girlfriend had the southwestern biscuits with chorizo and pulled pork topped with eggs. It was fantastic! VERY tasty. The serving sizes were perfect. Enough to satisfy, but not enough to make you completely full.
One of our party was lactose intolerant and allergic to gluten, and they were most helpful in substituting to accommodate her.
The men's room was kind of small and you had to wait in a tight spaces if it was occupied.
Little parking.
Overall, I recommend Santa Fe. Great food and service. Price point good!
Try it out!!
Everything about this place is great and fits. Atmosphere is cool/great for all ages, nice server, gluten free friendly, and man does the food taste great. Saw fish tacos were recommended by another review…yeah, best fish tacos I’ve ever had. Fresh fish, swapped out flour for corn tortillas, when cupped everything fit perfectly…and definitely filling. Got it with yellow rice. (Which was only *slightly* dry.) 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
