Several of the dishes happen to be vegan or gluten-free, and it was so wonderful to be offered something more upscale. We tried the mushroom sopecitos and the ceviche - both really tasty. For mains, we had the cauliflower rostizado which came with a yummy spicy sauce and the chicken mole which is served with blue corn tortillas. For dessert, a homemade nectarine and pink pepper sorbet was perfect. There are lots of tequila and mezcal cocktail choices, beers on tap, and a small but decent selection of wines. Place has a funky vibe, too!

A quaint little restaurant in the plaza area of Santa Fe. Compact seating with hard bench like booths. Small tables with chairs to make more room. Walls are beautifully decorated. Unisex bathroom, usually a line forms so be prepared. The food is decently good, our party of three ordered a variety of dishes. So, the food portions varied, such as the order of nachos which was just a handful of chips on a little plate, very small portion for a lunch dish. Now the blue corn tortilla enchiladas (3) plate was evenly portioned and not overly crowded, looked very appetizing.
I ordered the Santa Fe plate with x-mas style chile (red and green). The plate came with a tamale, enchilada, taco, beans, Spanish rice and posole. All squished on to a similar sized plate as the nachos were served on. The posole, instead should have been put into a separate bowl so the food wouldn't get all saturated with juice and become soggy. The taco was left off because one, no room and secondly, it was forgotten all together. Each plate comes with a sopapilla except for the nachos. Gluten free options are available but with the possibilities of obvious cross contamination should be expected but they will try and prepare it safely. I will return to try another dish.

The manager was very accommodating to one of the members of our party who has celiacs disease and can't eat gluten without becoming violently ill for days and it only takes a crumb in a vat of oil that is cross used to fry both gluten and non gluten foods. For those that have the disease, there is no choice but not to eat it. Anyway, many restaurant managers don't seem to know this, but this gentleman did, and went out of his way to make sure the food was safe for her. Great experience, all of the food was delicious.

Yes, it's a gas station. YES! It's worth stopping! The food is very good! Locals kept coming in for takeout while we sat down to eat in one of the three tables available.
Gluten-free angle: NOT a dedicated frier, so passed on the fries. Got the carne asada barrio bowl. Rice, beans, carne asada, lettuce and shredded cheese. Said yes to the salsa too which complemented the meal nicely.
Agua de horchata was yummy too! Give them a try!

I have eaten all over the world. And the experience I had at Sazón with Alisha as our host, was one of the best! It was also an honour to meet Chef Fernando Olea, what a legend. Everything was perfection and you could tell by looking around the restaurant, how much everyone enjoyed the experience. Sopa de Amor was phenomenal, a medley of perfectly balanced flavors, and I don’t particularly even like soup, this blew my mind. I also had the Shrimp Enchiladas (Cayoacan) which, oh my goodness, was perfection. And while I rarely order steak when out to eat, the Popocatepetl was divine. The Smokey flavors of the beef cooked to perfection with the various mole sauces…. I was speechless. Also, margaritas? Just don’t miss out. Alisha recommended the perfect one! Lastly, it’s the chef’s dessert for a reason, Dulce Sinfonia was perfectly orchestrated by Alisha as she guided us through the tasting experience. Also if you have allergies, I found everyone very helpful in advising me on the right gluten free choices. The experience was one of my most memorable flavor adventures and I was extremely impressed with the staff and had to refrain from asking for a selfie with the Chef. I cannot wait to go back!
