Looking for the good old slap up Chinese meal? Look no further!
Heard about this place and was impressed by the gluten free options for classic 80s Aussie Chinese.
It’s like a staged time capsule to the 80s with a good dose of humor.
Make sure you book because it was busy!
But that only added to the atmosphere.
Good beer, great food and friendly staff.
What else can you ask for.
Definitely going back. May be for Sunday yum Cha next time. (Without the coeliacs)
I recently discovered I’m gluten intolerant, so my options are pretty limited.
Really good food! Highly recommend.
Different options available, including vegan ones.
Place is clean too
I hope management take note of this review. We were there on Saturday. Ordered gf pizza we asked very clearly and confirmed twice. Pizza came and after eating a slice realised it was too good to be a gf base. Confirmation came with the bill then asked server and was flippantly told oh sorry our mistake. As a coeliac this is just unacceptable when you ask clearly twice this simply can’t happen. It’s a shame as food was very good but I won’t be back and have had to warn against this venue in the coeliac community. Mistakes can happen of course they can but we could not have ordered any more clearly
It has been at least 15 years since I dined at Bay Tinh, it was my favourite restaurant for years. I returned on Friday night with a group of friends who have never been there before. The food was delicious, the taste and freshness were absolutely how I remembered. The biggest plus was that they totally catered for our dietary requirements, vegan and gluten free. I can't believe it has taken me so long to get back there and I cannot wait to return. All my friends were super impressed too :)
We discovered Hello Auntie somewhat by accident - but, what a find! The food was so very interesting (and delicious) - really fresh new takes on some classic Asian/fusion fare.
The service was great (perhaps a little more confidence and volume would have aided - but we got there).
We booked a somewhat late sitting, but glad we did as the restaurant was still very busy when we arrived.
There's a great vibe about the place, buzzing but not overwhelmingly loud... which is especially surprising given the amount of exposed brick.
Really good options for those needing to eat vegetarian and/or gluten free - we did one of the banquet menus, and it was all gluten free!
I would have no hesitation in recommending Hello Auntie to anyone and everyone!
Gorgeous large cafe/restaurant staffed with lovely, passionate and efficient employees, in the heart of Marrickville.
FOOD: Wide variety of cafe-typical food alongside some unique great Middle Eastern/European offerings. They cater to vegetarians/vegans and impressively so, to coeliacs, with a number of savoury and sweet gluten free options.
STAFF: I left, wanting them! They have that down-to-earth, proactive, passionate, friendly vibe! Whoever hires... Well done!10/10
AMBIENCE: Gorgeously refurbished post office... Think high ceilings, ornate details etc with a modern fresh stylish vibe. Bench seats and chairs and table seating... Easily fit groups of 10+
LOCATION/ACCESSIBILITY: Wheelchair and pram friendly, both in and outdoors. Located in the heart of Marrickville along the main street. Outdoor seating captures gorgeous sunlight and allows for dogs and kids to play with a open space next door.
OVERALL: Highly recommend, will travel to eat there again! The staff alone are worth dining there.
Disappointed… we eat at Cabramatta and Canley vale regularly and this wasn’t at that standard.
The squid was more like a Chinese restaurant and overcooked.
The pork and prawn in the pancake was overcooked the actual pancake seemed deep fried- it was chewy.
It’s a pity a the staff were great- as were the vast gluten free options.it was also at the high end pricewise.
I would say this was a western focussed asian fusion restaurant more than traditional Vietnamese
